The Lectrosonics UHF Filter Amplifier Module Block 20-21provides a unique, high performance solution for antenna systems requiring long cable runs or distribution to multiple receivers or locations. The unit can be used to apply RF gain at the antenna ahead of a long run of coaxial cable to compensate for signal loss through the cable. A compact, high performance multicoupler can also be configured using the UFM50 ahead of an RF splitter to offset the loss through the splitter.

The UFM50 design places RF filtering before gain to minimize intermodulation (IM) products and prevent overload. Two transmission line ceramic resonators at the input provide filtering with a 50 MHz bandwidth. Following the filters, 12dB of gain is applied with a high quality GasFET RF amplifier with an excellent +41dBm IP3. The result is outstanding RF performance without IM or overload problems.

A switching regulator is used in the power supply to control current consumption over an input voltage range of 8-16 volts. The regulator maintains low current consumption and low heat dissipation which is especially useful in portable audio mixing common in field production and ENG.

The UFM50 can be powered from external DC or via phantom power through a coaxial cable connected to a multicoupler. The housing is constructed of cast aluminum with a brushed aluminum cover plate. Two rugged BNC connectors and a threaded, locking power jack provide secure connections for rugged field conditions and for long-term installations.

Q: 1. Is it safe to plug the receiver into an audio interface that supplies 48V phantom power?

A: Most audio interfaces that provide 48V phantom power allow for that feature to be turned off, which is what I would recommend when plugging in this system.

A: No, the Movo Photo WMX-20-DUO does not offer built-in recording.

Q: 3. Does this riser block & the corresponding base plate fit the Movcam A7sii cage?

A: The Movcam A7SII cage has a different riser block, which we do not yet have available for a separate purchase. We do however have the Movcam Sony A7II/A7SII/A7RII Accessories Kit which comes with the handle, cage, riser block and base plate available at this time.

Q: 4. Can this be attached to a standard baseplate or do you have to have the movecam baseplate?

A: The riser block is cut with a dovetail on the bottom intended to slide into the Movecam baseplate. However, the riser block is also drilled and tapped on the bottom for one centered 3/8 hole and four additional 1/4 holes. So, I'd say it's possible to mount the riser on a standard baseplate.

A: Yes, the Sony FE 20-70mm f/4 G Lens is now available as a lens profile in Lightroom CC.

Q: 6. What is the difference between large and small Block?

A: The Large socket block for compatibility with Archer, M-1, Shadow & Ultra2 systems. The Small socket block is for compatibility with Zephyr systems.

Q: 7. Can I use 2 of these systems on one camera and have 4 separate audio channels? If I plug one receiver in XLR 1 and the second receiver in XLR 2 can I separate all 4 channels of audio for 4 people in one camera?

A: Yes, you can use two WMX-20-DUO systems at the same time on the same camera, but you would have two audio tracks, not four. Each receiver outputs one signal with the combined audio from its two mics. Also, the camera only records two audio tracks, not four. If you do need to have four separate audio tracks, it would be best to use individual wireless systems for each person and capture the audio on a multi-track recorder. The audio and video can be synced in post production.

Q: 8. Is this transmitter mountable to a camera shoe mount? If so will the audio be sent to the camera directly? I have a Canon 7d and am looking for a mountable lavalier kit to send audio directly to my camera.

A: The receiver is designed to mount to a camera cold shoe. The transmitter is designed to be clipped to the persons belt. There are próducts to adapt the clip to mount to a cold shoe, such as: B&H product SKU # SECA2 and others; basically, you mount this holder to your shoe and then "clip " the transmitter to it!

Q: 9. Is there a AC powered compatible receiver that works with these mics? The batteries in the receiver just do not last.

A: No, unfortunately not. The Movo Photo WMX-20-DUO and their other wireless microphone systems are designed for use with cameras so the receivers all use batteries for power. There is no compatible receiver that uses AC power.

A: A maximum of two wireless transmitters can be used with the wireless receiver included with the Movo Photo WMX-20-DUO 2-Person Camera-Mount Wireless Lavalier Microphone System.
