The Rycote Medium Suspension 72 for Shotgun Micsprovides shotgun microphones with isolation from handling noise and has a comfortable pistol grip that allows for handheld use. The suspension isolates by supporting the microphone in a cradle arrangement using Lyre suspension webs. There is also a 3/8" boom adaptor in the base for quick transfer boom operation.

Q: 1. Does this have any kind of thread to attach to a boompole?

A: Yes. If you are attaching it to a studio Mike stand you will need an adapter. Rode makes one for 10 bucks.

Q: 2. Will Sennheiser SKP300 wireless xlr transmitter fit onto the end of this? Compatible?

A: We have a Sennheiser MKH-416 with a Sennheiser EK 500 G4 Pro Wireless Plug-On XLR transmitter attached to the mic, and it works great in this blimp. Still lots of extra room inside even it you have a longer mic.

Q: 3. Will a Sennheiser MKE 600 fit this blimp?

A: Yes. It fits mics up to 12.75 in length. The MKE 600 at 10.1 should fit great. My Rode NTG2 is 22mm in diameter so the Rycote Lyres should also hold the 20mm diameter of the MKE 600.

Q: 4. Does your current stock include the upgrade pack (i.e., Rycote Upgrade Pack for INV-Lite Shock Mount)? ... simply, plastic sleeve for metal that appear standard now on Rycotes website.

A: Rode does carry parts for their older mics. Hopefully they can help to get you the correct Rycote Lyre shock mount for your mic. You can reach their customer service department by phone at 562-364-7400. Their US offices are based in California.

A: The Rode Blimp Windshield will accommodate the Sennheiser MKH 416, and similar sized shotgun mics.

Q: 8. Can i use with Rode Blimp??

A: These will work with a Rode Blimp as it is suitable for 19-25 mm diameter microphones.

Q: 9. Does this shock mount include a shoe adapter so that I can mount my mic on top of my DSLR?

A: The Rycote INV-Lite 19 is designed for boompole use, primarily. If you would like to mount it on a DSLR camera, you would need The Rycote Hot Shoe adaptor; B&H# RYHSA.

Q: 10. Would it help with Rode VideoMic NTG?

A: Yes. If you plan to be shooting in overly windy conditions a blimp would not only help but be necessary.

[1.2 lb] Many people go with Rode products since they seem to be more well known, but after watching a presentation of Rycote from a past NAB, I saw how dedicated they were to the wind/ outdoor sound area, literally custom fabricating shields for outdoor golf broadcasts, rain, etc, I was impressed. I purchased this for an outdoor shoot and on the day there were about 20mph winds. I monitored the audio the whole time and this thing SAVED my life. Id highly recommend this product, the quality is impeccable and the results SAVED my shoot. Clients couldn’t believe the sound quality I was able to achieve. 5

[1.2 lb] I bought this to shoot my video guitar lessons outdoors using my Sennheiser shotgun mic. On my first outing the audio turned out perfectly even with the wind. I believe this is pretty much the same product that Rode markets under their own brand. I liked the fact that the hand grip comes with a built in mic stand mount. I don't think this is true of the Rode. I believe you have to buy and adapter with that one. This was a big factor for me in choosing the Rycote. 5

[1.2 lb] Such a good blimp for boom work, the dead cat handles heavy wind like a pro. I could wish the XLR clamp wasnt so close at the base which sometimes gets tight against the boom pole mount, but its not a big deal- no real design flaws in this whole piece. 5

[1.2 lb] Works perfectly for my shotgun mic, maybe strong wind you have to put a dead cat, but for ordinary work in and out is a great tool for sound location and sound field recording. 5
