A: The picture I see down not have a boom and mine didn't come with one. I'm using it to hold a tablet computer it is great for that. My computer holder came with a threaded connector that matches the stand. The stand is a little heavy but very stable and ideal for my needs.

A: This stand is very light weight, as it is designed to be extremely portable. I use a mini-boom with no counterbalance, but I don't get the mic too far from center. Just enough to clear my strings. If you use a full boom you'd have to counterweight it evenly with the microphone. At some point, the balance point would move too high and cause tipping. But it fits in a 20 bag!!!

[0.8 lb] i put this on my mike stand extension ( the skinny part, but it works on either) I use it for song lists and lyrics. I like that it holds my iPad securely and accommodates it IN the case ( up to 1/4 inch. I like it enough to buy a send on. I use it when I'm lying down. I put it on my chest for hands free operation. Oh yes, and the iPad can be put in the holder for landscape display or portrait mode. Nice 5
