The Ewa-Marine V300 Underwater Housing for Canon EOS C300, C500is a waterproof enclosure enabling you to shoot beneath the water's surface with your Canon EOS C300, C300PL, or C500 Cinema Camera with Canon EOS lens. It accommodates many lenses, though the PL type/series and those with filter threads larger than 82mm will not fit. Lenses with a maximum length of 5.7" are compatible. The V300 includes Ewa's Tripod Connector with Mounting Plate, which consists of an anodized aluminum plate with both a 1/4"-20 and a 3/8"-16 screw threads and a quick-release head.

The housing has a depth rating of 32.8'. Two clamping rails anodized for corrosion resistance fit together to form a watertight seal. The enclosure provides full access to virtually all camera functions, which are operable through the clear, thin, flexible, double-laminated PVC body. There is a dedicated slot for the camera's top-mounted monitor, as well. The housing has an integrated, optically neutral flat glass lens port with a diameter of 100mm. The included CA-77 adapter screws onto camera lenses with a 77mm filter thread, fixing the front element of the lens to the interior of the port in order to hold the lens securely in place.

Several accessories are included. Drying agent CD5 helps prevent moisture buildup, and foam padding fills up extra space inside the housing when shooting above water, to ensure your camera fits snugly. Below the surface, the water pressure will compress the housing, eliminating excess space. However, you should still keep the foam padding inside and make sure there is some air left in the housing, so that that will be enough interior pressure to withstand the water pressure. The included water-resistant yellow carrying case is not meant for submersion but will protect your gear against splashes.

Safe to use at depths up to 32.8'. The housing's watertight seal is created via two clamping rails that fit together. The rails are anodized for corrosion resistance.

Virtually all camera functions can be operated through the housing's thin, flexible body. While the enclosure has positive buoyancy, the weight straps at the bottom permit the attachment of optional weights for negative buoyancy, to keep the housing from floating.

Crafted from durable double-laminated PVC, which is clear to enable you to monitor the waterproof seal and maintain a full view of the camera. Design includes a dedicated slot for the camera's top-mounted monitor.

Integrated, optically neutral flat glass port with diameter of 100mm accommodates Canon EOS lenses with a maximum length of 5.7" and a filter thread up to 82mm in diameter. PL lenses or lenses with filter threads larger than 82mm are not compatible. The included CA-77 Adapter screws onto camera lenses with a 77mm filter thread, fixing the front element of the lens to the interior of the port to hold the lens securely in place. The optional CA-82 Adapter allows for the use of lenses with 82mm threads.

Includes Ewa's Tripod Connector with Mounting Plate, which consists of an anodized aluminum plate with both a 1/4"-20 and a 3/8"-16 screw thread and a quick-release head. Also supplied is a packet of drying agent CD5 to help prevent buildup of moisture in housing, as well as enough foam padding to fill up any extra space inside housing when shooting above water. Below the surface, water pressure will compress housing, getting rid of excess space for a more snug, secure fit. However, you should still keep foam padding inside and ensure that there is some air in the housing so that there will be enough interior pressure to withstand exterior water pressure. Supplied water-resistant yellow carrying case with plastic interior and zippered side-pocket is not safe for submersion but will keep your gear dry if splashed.

[32.8' (10 m)] This really is an amazing housing for the price. The first one I had I used I actually found in the basement at my parents house. It had been sitting there for 10+ years and I did a leak test, still worked, and I used it to do surf photography for the first time. It did eventually split open at the side, but I did catch it before going in the water. It lasted a good 6 months which was amazing because it was at least 10 years old. So I bought another one! I loved the second one for a long time and my mistake was leaving it in the car in the heat :-( It shrunk because it got too hot in my trunk, then when I put the camera in it, the housing was soft and the side split open. My fault here for sure. So I bought another one, hahahaha :-) Moral of the story here is to just continuously do water checks for your housing, it is soft housing so just be aware of not leaving it in your car for a day when you aren't using it, but this has been such an amazing an affordable option for me until I can buy a proper water housing. The only downside is it is too hard to change the settings once the camera is in the housing. So I use masking tape to keep my lens set at infinity, then I set my aperture and shutter speed depending on the light, sometimes auto if it's one of those days, and then just go for it! I have taken some amazing photos and love love love how much I've learned to get creative with my settings because of the restriction of being able to change it in the moment :-) It gets 5 stars because for a tenth of the price I get to create amazing photos and enjoy surf photography! I don't have to wait to spend 2500+ on a housing to do what I want :-) And as with any type of water housing, there is always a risk of ruining your camera. I already lost one camera to the sea :-) But the joy of ocean photography is so worth it so I'm willing to jump into the possibility of doing it again! I hope you enjoy yours as much as I enjoy mine!

[2.65 lb] This is a really great housing. I have been using it for surf photography. The housings made for surf photography can run you a couple of thousand, minimum, so this one is an awesome way to get started! It's a bit tricky without being able to test the settings and the lens port requires some cropping in post when using wide angle lenses. Totally worth it though!

[2.65 lb] For the price, it is great. You do need weighs for it if you want to go deeper than arms length. It is not easy to adjust focus or iris but it is possible between shots through the finger inserts.

[2.65 lb] Light weight and easy to use. I started using it with my Canon EOS10D and am still using it with the EOS 50D. With all other housings I would have had to buy a new one each time I changed the camera...

[2.65 lb] We use the newer Panasonic AG-HMC150 and this VP2 EWA-Marine product was recommended directly from the manufacturer as compatible. It is, it does work great. We did fashion some internal foam to keep the lens in line with the glass but otherwise it works great. We strap it to the front of a sea kayak and take GREAT HD footage while kayaking in and out of sea caves in the Channel Islands off the central California coast.

[2.65 lb] My canoe I was riding on capsized before I had this product. Needless to say, my expensive DSLR and lens were damaged beyond repair. Bought this product to protect against water spray, dust, and overall protection from elements - and yes, from possible capsizing. It worked for the purpose intended. Will test it on shallow dive when opportunity arises. No leaks or moisture problems. However, it's tough but it's still plastic. So, you want to protect it from pokes and scratches or you just threw away almost $$.

[2.65 lb] Loved the shots - it was easier to preset many of the controls first - no problems on vacation reef dive -way cheaper than a hard housing - flexible but has a glass lens port.

[32.8' (10 m)] Here is the most important thing you will need to know... IT WORKS! Putting your 5D Mark III into a body of water with a $2500 dollar lens and a flash does not feel natural in any way the first time you ease it into the water. But life is life and if it was going to leak I was going to find out the hard way, It did not leak. Humidity packets that came with it got rid of fog. The only tricky thing is that you really need to dial in your settings before getting in there, or use it on full auto. I shoot in Pools in Manual and it worked fine with a bit of going back and adjusting settings again. Direct flash looks terrible underwater as it does above water, so I am still not sure I will use flash again for my underwater needs. Great thing is I can turn flash on and off through the housing anyways so, not a big deal to have there just in case. The plastic does warp your lcd image and makes it look cloudy, the first time I thought everything looked terrible until I took it out of the thick plastic housing. Bottom line, this works, and the company that makes it guarantees your gear in case of manufacturing failure. KEEP YOUR RECEIPT!
