The Ubiquiti RocketM2 2.4GHz 2x2 MIMO airMAX BaseStationfrom Ubiquiti RocketM2 2.4GHz 2x2 MIMO airMAX BaseStationfeatures a mix-and-match industrial design, that supports speeds of up to 150+ Mb/s real TCP/IP throughput. It is suitable for deployment in Point-to-Point (PtP) bridging or Point-to-MultiPoint (PtMP) airMAX applications. You have the freedom to locate, deploy, and operate the Rocket in this unlicensed band. Ubiquiti's Time Division Multiple Access (TDMA) airMAX protocol allows each client to send and receive data using pre-designated time slots scheduled by an intelligent AP controller.

The 2.4 GHz frequency band is free to use, however, it is crowded due to interference from other wireless devices. Also, there are only three non-overlapping, 20 MHz channels available for use. The Rocket enclosure is built to survive harsh environments and fits the Rocket mount built into every airMAX antenna. You can pair the rocket with the appropriate antenna for your PtP link or PtMP network. A PoE adapter is included.

Rocket radios and airMAX antennas are designed to seamlessly work together. Every airMAX sector, RocketDish, Omni, or Yagi antenna has a built-in rocket mount, so installation requires no special tools. Snap the rockets securely into place and mount the antenna, then you have the optimal combination of Rocket radio and airMAX antenna for your PtP or PtMP application.

Ubiquiti's Time Division Multiple Access (TDMA) airMAX protocol allows each client to send and receive data using pre-designated time slots scheduled by an intelligent AP controller. This time slot method eliminates hidden node collisions and maximizes airtime efficiency. It provides significant performance improvements in latency, throughput, and scalability compared to all other outdoor systems in its class.
Intelligent QoS: Priority is given to voice/video for seamless streaming.
Scalability: High capacity and scalability.
Long Distance: Capable of high-speed, carrier-class links.

Built upon an intuitive user interface foundation, airOS 5 is an advanced operating system for Ubiquiti airMAX product. airOS provides additional advantages, including protocol support, long-range PtP link mode, automatic/manual transmit power control, automatic distance selection (ACK timing), device statistics, and diagnostic tools.

Integrated airView provides advanced spectrum analyzer functionality such as waterfall, waveform, and real-time spectral views that allow operators to identify noise signatures, and plan their networks to minimize noise interference. Waterfall aggregates energy over time for each frequency. Waveform aggregates energy collected. Real-time feature shows energy in real time as a function of frequency. Recording automates airView to record and report results.

airControl is a powerful and intuitive, Web-based server network management application, which allows operators to centrally manage entire networks of Ubiquiti devices. It features network map, monitor device status, mass firmware upgrade, Web UI access, management of groups of devices, and task-scheduling.

Related Questions and Answers

Q: 1. Hello do you get two dish antenna ? And can i use both of them to bridge two buildings ?

A: No, unfortunately this would be a single unit. Other hardware would be required to bridge the two points together.

Q: 2. Is this for a pair? or is it a single unit where I have to purchase 2 to make it work?

A: This is a single unit, half of a complete system. It can be used with another unit of the same type, or with other airMAX network equipment.

Q: 3. what's the difference between item R5AC-LITE-US and RM5-AC-PTP-LITE ?

A: The difference is the operating frequency, the RM5-AC-PTP-LITE is Worldwide: 5150 - 5875 MHz and R5AC-LITE-US is USA: 5725 - 5850 MHz

Q: 4. Does this have the same functionality as the Bullet MX, but covers both bands (2.4 and 5ghz)?

A: Yes, this is the dual band version of that hardware.

Q: 5. Point to Multi-Point, how wide is the "beam" at ~1,000'? How far apart can I place receivers to send and receive data back to the "base station". Will Nanostations on the remote locations work at this distance in this configuration?

A: Litebeam is a 1:1 bridge. You would need to use a LTU or AirMAX multipoint to have multiple receivers.

Q: 6. Is this listing for 2 pack of rocket dish?

A: Yes, this would be a 2 pack

Q: 7. What PoE injector is required for this device? It's unclear from the specs what it expects.

A: This unit requires an 8.5w PoE budget.

Q: 8. Is this the internationational version or locked to us?

A: RP-5AC-GEN2-US is for use in the US.

Q: 9. Does this item have the passthrough PoE? I have ordered several Gen2's, and they only have 1 Ethernet port. Apparently, units manufactured after November 2017 have the passthrough PoE. Please verify that your units have the passthrough PoE. I need several. Thanks.

A: The Ubiquiti Networks NBE-5AC-GEN2 NanoBeam ac Gen2 airMAX ac CPE with Dedicated Management Radio (BH #UBNBE5ACG2US) does support PoE power pass through.

Q: 10. What is the range?

A: The range will be determined by the antenna used.

[22 to 28 dBm] This is a great antenna. It's rugged, weatherproof and performs as expected. This is my third one! And the customer service at B&H is top notch in the unlikely event you have a problem.

[1.35 lb] Performance increased using this vs omni antenna. Same simple setup and mount is very easy to deploy. Remember the anti seize on all bolts just in case you need to move it in the future.

[6.5 W] works wonderfully in an on-the-fly IP video system... in our latest deployment, this was mounted on the roof of a 41 story building facing South while multiple IP cams coupled to Ubiquiti AC Nanobeam station points were down at Street level on lightpoles facing North and upwards... the 5G19-120 Antenna/ AC Rocket Prism radio combo worked flawlessly in grabbing all of our cams - a separate Nanobeam was mounted with the Prism and used as a
'backhaul' shot to our Command Post, which was about 1.7 miles North and through the entire downtown Los Angeles area ... our lowest linkspeed was in the 90 mbps range and all cams worked flawlessly. We previously used a 'mesh system' that was literally 1000X the cost that was not as effective.

[1.35 lb] This antenna is a very solid built device and works well. It’s a nice upgrade from the older sectors that Ubiquiti produced, but with a very similar feel and design.
