The Manfrotto MT055CXPRO4 Carbon Fiber Tripod is a 4-section support that replaces the 055CXPRO4 tripod. It has a load capacity of 44 lb and extends from 3.5" to 67". Its carbon fiber legs are secured by the Quick Power Locks. These updated flip locks increase the tripod's rigidity by 50% compared to its predecessor.

A redesigned center column has a "one finger" operation, and includes an Easy Link 3/8"-16 attachment for attaching accessories such as an LED light or a reflector via a compatible arm. The center column can be positioned horizontally, allowing for low-angle and macro photography. The upper disc where a tripod head is mounted has been redesigned as well, and now has a bull's eye bubble level that rotates 360° so you can locate it where you can see it. This allows you to level your camera on both the horizontal and vertical planes.

Q: 1. Could you please tell me the major differences between MT190CXPRO4 and MT055CXPRO4? Thanks

A: The main difference between the 190 and 055 tripod series is the load capacity. The 055 is the next series up from the 190, and has a larger load capacity. The MT190CXRPO4 has a load capacity of 15.4 lb, while the MT055CXPRO4 has a load capacity of 19.8 lb. The MT055CXPRO4 is also slightly taller (Max height of 66.9 vs. 63).

Q: 2. I'm going to buy one mor tripod.I have the opportunity to purchase manfrotto 055cxpro3 or manfrotto mt055cxpro3.What are the benefits of the newer tripod (manfrotto mt055cxpro3)?Thanks in advanceGershon

A: Don't know. The plate may be larger on one.

Q: 3. Can i add padded holders for the legs ? I have seen tripods having that so you do not feel the legs freezing when you are shooting in winter. Thoughts..! Suggestions..!

A: Does this include a carrying case of some sort?

Q: 4. Greetings! I have a Really Right Stuff BH-55 ballhead, which would pair up very nicely with this tripod, except for one thing: the BH-55 has a 2.9 base diameter, which would appear to cover the bubble level on the Manfrotto's plate. What is the diameter of the circular top plate on the MTO55CXPRO4, and if smaller that 2.9 , is it possible to have a larger-diameter plate? Thanks! Alain

A: The diameter is approximately 2 inches. The plate cannot be switched out for another.

Q: 5. Is this tripod compatible with Manfrotto Ball-Head 496RC2 and Wimberley Head WH-200 Version II ?

A: This tripod has an industry standard 3/8-16 mounting stud so it should work with the Wimberley head. It will definitely work with the Manfrotto 496RC2.

Q: 6. I need a good stable, travel tripod for wild life photog. I currently have a Nikon D800e with Sigma 150-600mm Sport lens and Manfrotto/Bogen 3421 gimbal. I am also 5'7 and cannot bend forward for any length of time so tripod needs to be tall enough with very little center column extension. I typically shoot beyond 500mm on my lens. Will this tripod excel for me or is there another model? Thank you.

A: I purchased this tripod at the end of February and have been totally happy with the decision. It is a very stable tripod. I have used it with my Canon 70-200L lens and it has worked very well. I am not familiar with the gimble support you mentioned but I think the tripod would work well for you. When spreading the legs out it takes a little practice to get the hang of it. I have found that you need to back off the legs slightly to get the leg latches to release in order to spread the legs to the next position. If you purchase the four section leg model you should have more than enough height without extending the center column. The tripod is very light and easy to carry in the field. With your big lenses I might suggest that you hang your camera bag from the built in hanger for additional stability although I have not found this to be a problem. The tripod is very stable by itself. As I also own one of Manfrotto's professional studio tripods (which is quite heavy) I have found this to be an exceptional tripod for the field and carrying to various sites. You will not be disappointed with this tripod. Construction is rugged and will hold up well in the field. I hope this helps you.Jim

Q: 7. Would it be a good buy for Canon 70D with Sigma 150-600 Contemporary and Wimberley WH-200 Gimbal Tripod Head II with Quick Release Base ?

A: Yes! I'm using mine for both Canon and my Phase One system

Q: 8. Despite having an extra segment per leg, the MT055CXPRO4 has the same max height & support weight as the MT055CXPRO3. Is one better or more desirable than the other? What difference does an extra segment make, if it doesn't extend further? Is it just extra moving parts (and potential points for mechanical failure), or is there a benefit?

A: The addition of the extra segment allows the tripod to fold down smaller. 21.3 vs 24.8

Q: 9. Will the RRS BH-55 work on this tripod, given that the diameter of the ball-head is larger than the diameter of the tripod plate?

A: Yes, this ballhead will work though it has a larger diameter.

Q: 10. Will this work with fugifilm cameras

A: Yes and no. Yes, this is strong enough for any Fujifilm camera, including the GFX-series of cameras. No, because this is just the SKU for the tripod legs and doesn't work with any camera until completed with a tripod head of some sort. Compatibility with camera systems and the tripod head is a separate topic/question all together.

[Carbon Fiber] Sturdy tripod and light enough for travel. I like the clips better than twist tightening legs. I'm a little tall so I also appreciate the maximum height being a bit more than some other tripods. Very happy. Maybe not a Gitzo or RRS but neither is the price.

[Carbon Fiber] Have not had this tripod long, but have used it a few times since arrival. It’s larger and more steady than the one it replaced. The ball head holds position well once set. Would purchase this combo again!

[Yes] Great product and upgraded 055 tripod from Manfrotto. Definitely more compact (yet sturdy) tripod compared to my 9+ years old 055CX3 tripod. Leg locks worked great (better than on the 055CX3). All in all a great outdoor use tripod.

[Yes] Very well built equipment. The head is a serious thing- there is weight to it, but sturdy. Not something you want to take hiking, but for Real Estate photography, it is perfect. The tripod is awesome, but watch out for those snaps... they will pinch you good. I'm very impressed with the total quality.

[Yes] Purchased this tripod to replace my old 055CXPRO3 which was a tripod that I loved but it didn't quite fit in my roll on luggage. The CXPRO4 is shorter than the PRO3 when fully collapsed and raises up higher as well. Very sturdy, very light. I love it!
