Related Questions and Answers

Q: 1. How long is the sync cord? Can you buy a sync cord in longer lengths?

A: The included sync cable is 15 feet long. You can an extension like the Impact Sync Cord Male PC to Female PC (16') B&H # IMPCMPCF16.

Q: 2. I just received my impact EX-100A monolight today. And realized my cord is a European cord. I wanted to know if I am able to get an adapter for it so that it works, or do I have to return it?

A: Hi Sharlene, you have bought the 220V AC unit, so, you must know if where you are you have that electricity. If you are, you just need to buy the adapter. I have used mine in Chile where the electricity comes at 220V AC, but I needed an adapter to plugging in.

Q: 3. does this unit have hss?

A: No it doesn't have HSS

Q: 4. does this come with a sync cord?

A: Yes the sync cord is included.

Q: 5. what is the power source?

A: The lights include a 120VAC power cord which is a regular USA household plug.

Q: 6. Are these lights tungsten or daylight ( 5500K). Can I use my Nikon on auto white or have to balance?

A: Strobe lights are typically daylight-balanced. You would either use the daylight-balanced or flash-balanced white balance preset on your camera, or you would use the Custom White Balance setting to set a custom white balance. Auto White Balance is not recommended for strobe usage.

Q: 7. Can this be used for outdoor portraits?

A: Probably not unless there is an outlet or something to plug into

Q: 8. Will this work on a Novatron 240?

A: If you mean would you be able to use this product along with the Novatron 240, probably. The Novatron system does not have built-in optical slaves, but the monolights with this kit do, so you should be able to fire the Novatron system with you camera and let the optical slaves on this monolight kit fire them. You have to manually adjust the power settings on these to achieve proper exposure and the lighting effect you want.

Q: 9. Can these lights be on for a full shoot, or are they flash/strobe only? Looking to purchase something inexpensive for filming purpose, and won't need the flash setting.

A: You could use the modeling lights for filming but it's probably cheaper to just by led modeling lights with more wattage. I think the modeling lights on this kit is about 60 watts. Modeling lights are used to see the lighting and to help your camera focus on the subject.

Q: 10. Hi, which exactly is the Mini to PC Synch Cord? Could you send me a link?I have a canon 650D and i'm not pretty sure if i can manage these lights from my camera.Thanks.

A: A mini to PC sync cord would allow a camera with a sync terminal to be connected to these lights. Please see the following link for an example of the cable: a href= http://bhpho.to/1qtaQvJ. target= _blank http://bhpho.to/1qtaQvJ./a As for use with the Canon 650D, you would need a hotshoe to PC sync adapter to use these monolights. Please see the link for the adapter: a href= http://bhpho.to/1jT4Cko target= _blank http://bhpho.to/1jT4Cko/a

[150 degrees] I installed in my living room in between ceiling joists. It works great. I use it with a Panasonic HD projector. It impresses everyone who walks in the room. Has a clean appearance when retracted. Note: it didn't come with a 12v trigger as both the B&H customer service rep and myself thought it did. We both misunderstood the description (it's optional.) The part was available at Da-Lite for $80 and came with no instructions. I got it to work after a few emails and chats with da-lite. Also, I ended up placing some holes in the top of the case to mount using 8 Lag bolts into the 2nd story floor structure. All the hardware that comes with it assumes you will have access to hang it from the top which requires access via the side while it's in it's final position. I was putting it in a hole the size of the case in my finished ceiling so that method would not work ( I would have had to remove and re-install a lot of drywall). I knew this before I purchased by reading the installation instructions so no worries just a fact and maybe a consideration for future changes to the case or just the directions.

[Yes] Assembly for very straight forward. Looks great on the wall. Really like the velour wrap around the frame. It does a very good job of rejecting light back onto the screen. Because of the size, (110 inch) I decided to put up a folding screen to cover it when not in use.

[Front] We installed this in a rehabbed church space that's now a contemporary art gallery flush mounted it to an exposed beam and it looks and works great. That said, it's only been about a week, so maybe I'll report back later if I have any complaints! I was surprised that, for its length, there are only 2 mounting holes on either end, so I fear that it may sag over time. But again, too soon to tell. Where it does mount in those 2 places, it's on a solid plastic end cap/brace, so it seems like it will hold up well. It weighs about 85 pounds, so we had 3 people to install. We had to go about 17 feet up to the beam, we leveled, marked and pre-drilled & drove lag bolts into the beam and then used two extension ladders on either side to climb and carefully slide the projector up on the ladder's rails. Our 3rd person was on a 10ft ladder in the middle and was there as a spotter for extra support. It was then quite easy to hook it on to the lag bolts once we slid it to the top. All in all, it's an easy install, we opened the box and had the job done in less than 4 hours. Just be sure you have the wiring supplies and the proper mounting hardware and you'll have no problem!

[16:10] The screen was simple to mount (we used lag bolts and attached the screen to a wall.) The screen did not come with instructions on how to install the switch for a 120v motor...complicated the electrical install was inconsistent wire colors on the switch and the screen. After consulting an electrician and enduring his derision for working with this product - he correctly intuited the correct wiring configuration. A big thanks to the customer service at B&H. We ordered the screen 2 weeks from a graduation. The shipper lost the screen for nearly a week, without informing us. I contacted the shipper, who responded with a long distance shoulder shrug - explaining they would look for it again. Unable to motivate the shipper, I called B&H - they got involved, and the screen was in my driveway 36 hours later. Thanks B&H.

[220 VAC/50 Hz] This screen was installed in a small conference room with an NEC projector. The screen can be wall or ceiling mounted, and this flexibility came in handy when we had to switch to a ceiling mount at the last moment. The screen presents very well, and is unobtrusive when retracted. The tensioning system works nicely, and we didn't have to change any of the factory settings for the drop. I would have liked to see some additional mounting holes for attaching the screen to studs in the wall, so the installer has more options for wall mounting.

[All Four Sides] This Screen was easy to install. It took 3 people and 2 ladders to get the job done. The remote is really not needed but i opted to install it as well. The motor runs really smooth. The screen is nice and wide. A really good buy.
