Related Questions and Answers

Q: 1. Can these lights be on for a full shoot, or are they flash/strobe only? Looking to purchase something inexpensive for filming purpose, and won't need the flash setting.

A: You could use the modeling lights for filming but it's probably cheaper to just by led modeling lights with more wattage. I think the modeling lights on this kit is about 60 watts. Modeling lights are used to see the lighting and to help your camera focus on the subject.

Q: 2. What is the maximum watt light you can use?

A: These monolights can only except a modeling lamp up to 60 watts. The strobes themselves offer 100 watt/sec of power on each.

Q: 3. Are these lights tungsten or daylight ( 5500K). Can I use my Nikon on auto white or have to balance?

A: Strobe lights are typically daylight-balanced. You would either use the daylight-balanced or flash-balanced white balance preset on your camera, or you would use the Custom White Balance setting to set a custom white balance. Auto White Balance is not recommended for strobe usage.

Q: 4. Can this be used for outdoor portraits?

A: Probably not unless there is an outlet or something to plug into

Q: 5. In the list of accessories included with this kit theres a Dedicated EX100A SpeedringCan this speedring be used with softboxes made by other softbox manufacturers?

A: Unfortunately, the speed ring included in this kit would be limited to use with the included softboxes.

Q: 6. I have a Nikon D3300, Do I need to buy the PowerTrigger transmitter in order to make the Flash work? Or the sync cord will do the job.

A: I am not familiar with Nikon but I can tell you that the sync cord works with my Canon DSLR. As long as there is an outlet on the side of the camera, which there should be, it should work fine.

Q: 7. Will this work on a Novatron 240?

A: If you mean would you be able to use this product along with the Novatron 240, probably. The Novatron system does not have built-in optical slaves, but the monolights with this kit do, so you should be able to fire the Novatron system with you camera and let the optical slaves on this monolight kit fire them. You have to manually adjust the power settings on these to achieve proper exposure and the lighting effect you want.

Q: 8. Are there two monolights in this kit? As the title says? Because when i select what is in the box list it only shows one monolight only.

A: Yes, there are two.

Q: 9. 5600 k or tungsten?

A: This kit would contain monolights, which produces a color temperature of 5600K.

Q: 10. Will this strobe work with 3rd party modifiers, or only the supplied softboxes?

A: That model strobe uses the Elinchrom mount also called EX. There are a few different manufactures that make modifiers with that mount, Elinchrom, Impact and Interfit. Note to be careful when picking it out that it is the correct mount. Impact and Interfit make different mounts not just EX.

[Yes] The screen was simple to mount (we used lag bolts and attached the screen to a wall.) The screen did not come with instructions on how to install the switch for a 120v motor...complicated the electrical install was inconsistent wire colors on the switch and the screen. After consulting an electrician and enduring his derision for working with this product - he correctly intuited the correct wiring configuration. A big thanks to the customer service at B&H. We ordered the screen 2 weeks from a graduation. The shipper lost the screen for nearly a week, without informing us. I contacted the shipper, who responded with a long distance shoulder shrug - explaining they would look for it again. Unable to motivate the shipper, I called B&H - they got involved, and the screen was in my driveway 36 hours later. Thanks B&H.

[Yes] This Screen was easy to install. It took 3 people and 2 ladders to get the job done. The remote is really not needed but i opted to install it as well. The motor runs really smooth. The screen is nice and wide. A really good buy.

[16:9] We use the screen in our church sanctuary once or twice a month. Installing it was an adventure with the weight and length, but several sections of scaffolding and a couple friends made the install move along nicely. The instructions for wiring were right on and it worked first try! The image is right on and visible the entire length of our viewing area (over 100').

[Yes] We installed this in a rehabbed church space that's now a contemporary art gallery flush mounted it to an exposed beam and it looks and works great. That said, it's only been about a week, so maybe I'll report back later if I have any complaints! I was surprised that, for its length, there are only 2 mounting holes on either end, so I fear that it may sag over time. But again, too soon to tell. Where it does mount in those 2 places, it's on a solid plastic end cap/brace, so it seems like it will hold up well. It weighs about 85 pounds, so we had 3 people to install. We had to go about 17 feet up to the beam, we leveled, marked and pre-drilled & drove lag bolts into the beam and then used two extension ladders on either side to climb and carefully slide the projection screen/case up on the ladder's rails. Our 3rd person was on a 10ft ladder in the middle and was there as a spotter for extra support. It was then quite easy to hook it on to the lag bolts once we slid it to the top. All in all, it's an easy install, we opened the box and had the job done in less than 4 hours. Just be sure you have the wiring supplies and the proper mounting hardware and you'll have no problem!

[16:9] We use the electrol screens almost exclusively in close to a 100 locations. They are versatile and durable.

[Yes] I installed in my living room in between ceiling joists. It works great. I use it with a Panasonic HD projector. It impresses everyone who walks in the room. Has a clean appearance when retracted. Note: it didn't come with a 12v trigger as both the B&H customer service rep and myself thought it did. We both misunderstood the description (it's optional.) The part was available at Da-Lite for $80 and came with no instructions. I got it to work after a few emails and chats with da-lite. Also, I ended up placing some holes in the top of the case to mount using 8 Lag bolts into the 2nd story floor structure. All the hardware that comes with it assumes you will have access to hang it from the top which requires access via the side while it's in it's final position. I was putting it in a hole the size of the case in my finished ceiling so that method would not work ( I would have had to remove and re-install a lot of drywall). I knew this before I purchased by reading the installation instructions so no worries just a fact and maybe a consideration for future changes to the case or just the directions.
