The IndiPRO Dual LP-E6 Power Grid XLR Audio Box NP-FW50from IndiPRO Dual LP-E6 Power Grid XLR Audio Box NP-FW50provides power to your Sony a7 Camera using two optional Canon LP-E6 type batteries. It converts two XLR inputs to a 3.5mm stereo audio output to provide two channels of audio directly to your camera. The Power Grid System incorporates a clamp so you can mount it to optional LWS 15mm support rods and it features a right angle power plug to keep the cable neat and snug on the camera.

The Power Grid features a two-sided design that mounts the batteries one on each face, although only one battery is required to supply the necessary voltage to power the camera. A blue LED built into the plate lights up to indicate sufficient voltage available to power your camera. You can hot swap your batteries without powering down the camera, as long as there is always a sufficiently charged battery in the Power Grid. The Power Grid System is Made in the USA.

Related Questions and Answers

Q: 1. Where does it mount to the Pocket Camera?

A: It's designed to mount on rails, not the camera itself, but the rail mount can be unscrewed leaving a 1/4-20 hole if you want to mount it another way.

Q: 2. Does this work with the Blackmagic Pocket Cinema Camera 4K? As it also uses LP-E6 batteries... Thanks.

A: Yes, this product should work with the Pocket Cinema Camera 4K. The Pocket Cinema Camera 4K is powered by LP-E6 batteries, which is the kind of dummy connection this offers.

Q: 3. Does it provide Phantom Power to the xlr inputs?

A: It does not provide phantom power.

Q: 4. About how much runtime will two new fully charged LP-E6 batteries give you with an A7S compared to the original battery?

A: We have user reports of 4 or more hours of run time with the IndiPRO Tools 8PASA7.

Q: 5. this works with the sony alpha 6500 ?

A: Works with all the Sony 'a' series bodies

Q: 6. how long is the cable from the pod to the fake battery?

A: The cable is 20 inches long.

Q: 7. How does this mount to the camera - or will you need a cage?

A: You could use a hot shoe to 1/4 adapter to mount this on top of the camera. The Vello Multi-Function Ball Head with Removable Top & Bottom Shoe Mounts would be one example. However, this is fairly large and might be rather awkward. If you do not want a cage, then get a mini baseplate with 15mm rods such as the IndiPRO Tools DSLR Baseplate with 9 15mm Rods. Then with IndiPRO Tools Dual 15mm Rod Clamp with 1/4 -20 for Power Pod, you can mount the Universal Power Pod to the rods.

Q: 8. If I power my camera with a regular sony battery, can I use the xlr to 3.5mm works without the LP-E6 batteries? Does the audio box need to be powered in order to work?

A: The unit doesn't need to be powered, but the mic that you are using needs to be powered,

Q: 9. does this also work (given the LP-E6 battery) with canon eos DSLR cameras?

A: This unit is designed to power the Sony A7 series of cameras, it will not work with Canon DSLRs that are powered by LP-E6 batteries. However IndiPRO Tools makes similar solutions that will. They have LP-E6 powered battery grids that you can use on cameras like the Canon 5D Mark III, 7D Mark II, 6D and more.

Q: 10. Is the dummy battery swappable? For instance, is it possible to use dummy canon lp6 battery, if I were to purchase one?

A: Sorry no the dummy is not swap-able without being a technician nor is it available that I can find. However, IndiPRO does have power solutions for LP-E6 battery cameras. Please see the following link. http://bhpho.to/1QPCe2p

[7.2 to VDC ] Battery life on my A7s is poor, so I needed better battery life for portable work - this unit fits the bill. Its light, and allows me to use my collection of Canon batteries, for 4x+ recording time. Connects to my A7s cage, is light, and easy to use.

[7.2 to VDC ] I have also used this setup on my gh4. I currently am using it with the a6300 and a7sii. At first it seemed the summary battery was reading as a incompatible battery. After a couple of tries it read it in the a6000, a6300, a7rii and a7s. The connectors on the dummy battery may have had something on them from the manufacturer. This is extremely helpful when my camera is on a rig and gives me easy access to the batteries. The canon batteries also seem to last longer as well.

[7.2 to VDC ] This is perfect, it's lightweight, small, affordable and not in the way when I use a shoulder mount. Phantom Power for the XLRs would have been smart, not sure what they where thinking, but you can't have everything. That being said, I love the size. It allows my rig to stay small and very portable.

[7.2 to VDC ] I purchased this unit and it worked flawlessly, then suddenly didn't work one day... I contacted IndieProTools and they responded within one day with troubleshooting ideas, and ultimately shipped a brand new replacement unit and paid return shipping for the old one. Great product and excellent customer service from IndieProTools, I don't anticipate an issue with this new one. Works great and adds hours of usability on to the Pocket Cinema Cam. I dont use the XLR inputs often but it's a nice addition to have when needed.

[0.85 lb] I am currently using this product on a Canon 6D. It will work with both a Battery Grip and Body. Both have a rubber flap that allows the cord to come out the bottom. The batteries swap out well and hold into place. maybe the could fit a bit more snug but still works. if you are uncomfortable then you gaffers tape. with four off brand batteries it can extend shooting to around 14 hours. but if you swap out you can go continuous. The rod clamp I really cant use. would be nice if it were more versatile, but I have it sitting on another bracket. all in all,IMHO, this would be better than using a BG-E13 battery grip.

[19 mm Rod Mount] I have the Sony A7s as you probably know by now, battery life is short! This extends the battery life and uses by 1000% The two XLR channels are a great feature.

[7.2 to VDC ] Since the limited life of the BMPCC battery leaves much to be desired, especially when also using a Metabones Speed Booster, I searched high and low for alternatives that would keep me from having to frequently change batteries. I even considered a large V-mount battery and a d-tap cord, but having come from using Canon DSLRs, this product was the obvious choice. I already had some LP-E6 batteries, they perform really well, and they're extremely lightweight. It's easy to slide this onto my Tilta Rig for the BMPCC (or any other rig for that matter), or you can mount it directly to the camera (above or below) using a 1/4 male to 1/4 male threaded screw adapter (sold separately). And I love the fact that I can hot swap the LP-E6 batteries as long as the internal battery is in the camera.
