A: I use a Wimberley plate on my 100 2.8L. I bought the Vello lens mount for this lens, and the way that it curves down in the back doesn't give you a square edge for the lip on the back of the plates to snug up against. You just need to make sure it's positioned right before you tighten the plate down. I'm generally using ProMediaGear lens plates for larger lenses than the 100mm (and L-plates) now because of their quick release system which works great with the Black Rapid straps.
