[Aluminum] As someone who has used the P2 Card reader in the past. I must say that theSonnet Thunderbolt Pro P2 Card Reader trounces it by far. This was the best investment for importing or ingesting media from Panasonic cameras.

[Aluminum] I love this thing, hats off to Sonnet. I used to have to come in to work a couple of hours early to download my media after every shoot. P2 Cards are very reliable. However downloading your media is painfully slow. Until Now. The Thunderbolt P2 Reader is lightening fast. It works with both the Standard P2 Cards and P2 Adapter SDXC Cards. If you can use a lightening connecter this will speed up your work flow. I stopped using my P2 cards after the adapter came out because of the time it saved me. Now I can use my P2 Cards again. I can unload my 64 GB Cards in about 15 mins. Using a USB2 it took nearly 40. It would be nice if they also had a USB 3 port but that's a small complaint. If it did, every other editor in my office would steal it!

[1.04 lb] Purchased the Sony Reader worked fine with the USB connection to a powered hub, not sure if it would work straight into the computer. The sonnet worked using the Apple adapter Male USB-c to Thunderbolt 2 Female attached to an Apple Thunderbolt 2 cable Males on each end one plugged int the Apple Adapter and the other end plugged into the Mac with has Thunderbolt 2 input.

[Aluminum] Best CFexpress card reader for me so fay. The fastest, and cards go in and out with ease, but with a solid feel. Yes it needs power but fine for me sinece it is connected to my Mac desk-top. The good thing is it has daisy-chaining, which does for use up one of my Thunderbolt ports. Very happy so far. It does, however, gets warm if you transfer large amounts of data but that is to be expected. The heat sinks on the unit does a good job anyway. RECOMMENDED.

[1.04 lb] mac OS 10.15 - Sony has not yet updated the driver credentials to be easily installed in Catalina (10.15). To install the driver in Catalina, you must disable SIP to use Sony's XQD driver as follows:

DISABLE SIP
1. From the Apple menu, select Restart.
2. Boot into the macOS Recovery partition on an internal drive. Hold down command-R on your keyboard immediately after pressing the power button to turn on your Mac, or immediately after your Mac begins to restart. Continue holding until you see the Apple logo or a spinning globe. Startup is complete when you see the macOS utilities window on an internal drive. [Note: Booting into a Recovery System on an external drive will not be successful in disabling SIP.]
3. From the Utilities menu, select Terminal.
4. Type csrutil disable and press return.
5. Close the Terminal app.
6. From the Apple menu, select Restart.
