Related Questions and Answers

Q: 1. I run 2K (SDI) video into this this and it converts (with power) to HDMI 1080p. Do I have this right? With that happening can I loop an SDI monitor to run video out of that as well? Is it too much data to run a 2k Alexa Classic picture through it?

A: Yes, that is right. The converter supports 2K over SDI, but not HDMI. If you feed it a 2K SDI input it'll output 1080 HD on the HDMI output. There is no processing on the SDI Loop Out so that will still be a 2K SDI output.

Q: 2. Does this support SDI A or B?

A: It does not specify SDI A or B. If this is a concern we suggest looking at the Decimator MD-HX instead which does support both SDI A and B. https://bhpho.to/3sZzZTe

Q: 3. Is there a difference in performance between the regular or bidirectional micro converter in terms of latency?

A: The Blackmagic Design Micro Converter Bi-Directional SDI/HDMI 3G and the other Mini Converters have very little to no latency. They would both perform the same.

Q: 4. Can you use this to take an output feed from a Blackmagic Design Teranex Mini SDI 12G Distribution and use the hdmi to send it to a monitor?

A: Yes you can as long as the Teranex mini is outputting a resolution/frame rate that is supported by the micro converter.

Q: 5. The version Blackmagic Design Micro Converter HDMI to SDI 3G it also carries the audio? Or only video?

A: The Blackmagic Design Micro Converter HDMI to SDI 3G will also transfer the audio signal.

Q: 6. Does this device work to boost the signal of the SDI signal?

A: The Blackmagic Design Micro Converter Bidirectional SDI/HDMI 3G does not boost the signal of the SDI.

Q: 7. Does it bypass EDID / HDCP as i need to connect it to medical devices ?

A: The AVMATRIX SC2030 3G-SDI/HDMI Scaling Cross Converter cannot bypass HDCP.

Q: 8. Can these be left in permanent setups for long periods without power cycling? Other converters have given us issues.

A: The current information provided on the AVMATRIX SC2030 3G-SDI/HDMI Scaling Cross Converter should allow the product to be left in a permanent setup.

Q: 9. Can I use this to link my Sony a7iv hdmi output to my Small hd focus SDI. Thanks in advance

A: With the HDMI output on the Sony A7IV and feeding into a SDI input on the SmallHD focus, it would be optimal to look towards this model: Blackmagic Design Micro Converter HDMI to SDI 3G BH #BLCVCMICHS03 • MFR #CONVCMIC/HS03G. https://bhpho.to/3HiBenM

Q: 10. What will happen if I input a 12G SDI signal from the camera to this? Will it be downscale to standard format? Will the 12G signal recognize?

A: No, you will just be using a 12g sdi cable to get a 3g signal. The unit will not upscale.

[0.3 lb / 150 g] The Elvid 3G-SDI to HDMI Micro Video Converter is one of those pieces of gear you don’t realize you need until you do. It’s such a convenient tool for anyone working with SDI equipment but needing to connect to HDMI gear like monitors or computers. I’ve used it to convert SDI signals from a camera to my HDMI monitor, and it’s super easy...just plug in, and you're good to go. It has worked flawlessly for me.

What I appreciate most is how versatile it is. It supports up to 1080p60, so I’m getting crisp, broadcast-quality video every time. Plus, the SDI loop output is a fantastic bonus, letting me retain the option to still send out the signal SDI and not only HDMI. Whether you’re working with a 2nd monitor that is SDI or another SDI device, it keeps everything running smoothly.

The power options are also a nice plus. If I’m somewhere with an AC outlet, it comes with an adapter. Or I can run it off my computer’s USB port, or any other device with a 5V USB output It’s nice to have that flexibility, especially on location. And speaking of locations, the compact and durable metal design makes it super portable. I can toss it in my gear bag without worrying about it getting banged up. And I love that it has a little blue light to let you know it is receiving power and is on. That is good information to have, especially when on location.

For anyone dealing with both SDI and HDMI setups and gear, this little converter is a must-have. It’s reliable, compact, and makes switching between SDI and HDMI workflows a breeze. It’s been a handy addition to my kit for my productions. [I have received this product in exchange for my honest review]

[0.3 lb / 150 g] PC/MAC VGA-BMD ATEM SDI BNC translator. This is exactly what I needed to integrate a PC output into the ATEM video mixer wanting 1080i. The key is the scanner/scaler and not just a media converter. Just wish the Syner-G tool could be run on a Mac which our studio is predominately composed of.

[10.5 x 6.9 x 4"] At the Bristol Village retirement community in southern Ohio, we have an auditorium with a group of volunteers providing A/V services. We currently use AVMATRIX SC2030 converters to feed a Blackmagic ATEM TV Studio HD. Trying to control the wiring mess was a challenge.

In order to organize wiring, we created a mounting board. The AVMATRIX has included 'ears' that make this possible.

[10.5 x 6.9 x 4"] This Elvid Video Converter is one of those tools that makes your production life so much easier. If you work with SDI equipment but need to integrate HDMI signals, this little guy is a lifesaver. I love how simple it is, just plug in your HDMI source, and boom, it converts the signal to two SDI outputs. Whether you're sending video to a monitor, switcher, or both, it gets the job done without any fuss.

For live events, studio work, or any situation where you need to convert from HDMI to SDI, it’s been super reliable. And the best part is, it supports up to 1080p60, so you're getting really crisp, broadcast-quality video. I’ve used it with my camera and even hooked it up to my computer when I needed to send video to an SDI workflow. It handles both like a pro.

One thing I really appreciate is how compact and sturdy it is. The metal body gives it that extra durability, so I don’t have to worry about it getting damaged when I’m transporting gear. And there is flexibility for power options. It comes with an AC adapter if you have access to a wall outlet. but can be also be powered from a computer or device with a 5V USB output. It’s great to have that choice depending on your setup.

Honestly, for anyone looking to bridge the gap between HDMI and SDI, this converter is a solid, hassle-free solution. It’s small, reliable, and just works. It's exactly what you need when you’re on the go or in the studio. [I have received this product in exchange for my honest review]

[10.5 x 6.9 x 4"] Was tasked with getting various HD signals from a TV truck to the court side monitors for college basketball broadcasts. Initially had a budget throw down HD-DA's, but the cable length could be over 300 feet and the signal was intermittently dropping out. Installed the SC2030 and watched the signal clean up. Apparently, it is a reclocker, although not advertised as one. I have to deal with 720p59.94, 1080i59.94 and 1080p59.94 broadcasts. This UDC easily accepted these signals and I have set the Dips to 1080i59.94 to feed the Time Out Coordinator's monitors. The Eye Pattern of the signals is excellent with very little jitter detected.

Normally, I would have purchased Decimater UDC's, but they are back ordered. I took a chance, since this is just monitor feeds and I am thrilled. I will buy more, if I need to feed monitors. They accept SDI and HDMI and output 2 x SDI and 1 HDMI. It's a budget swiss army knife converter. Good to have in your kit...because you never know when you'll have a flaky signal to clean up!

[2 W maximum] Used these devices to successfully convert SDI content from a Blackmagic ATEM switcher to several HDMI displays. Initial use of Blackmagic SDI/HDMI converters was not successful because the Blackmagic device did not convert the 59.94Hz refresh rate to 60Hz. The Gefen Scaler/Converter is able to do this. One note: You MUST change the Blackmagic ATEM to Level A output from its default Level B. This is on the General Configuration tab.
