For use in studios and other applications which require SDI video feeds, this HDMI/VGA to 3G-SDI Scaler Converter by Gefenfrom HDMI/VGA to 3G-SDI Scaler Converter by Gefenwill scale and convert VGA or HDMI signals to an SDI signal. Supporting Full HD video, all input signals can be scaled up to 1080p resolution. All settings within the unit can be changed via an OSD (On-Screen Display) menu system. Alternatively, the Gefen Syner-G software suite can configure the unit as well.

A: There aren't any USB powering options on the device; only a DC barrel input with a VDC AC Power Adapter that is included.

A: That number denotes the format being transported through. The NTSC refers to the TV standards being employed and the numbers represent the applicable frame rate on the signal.

A: No! This device only convert frame rate signal.

Q: 5. Does it bypass EDID / HDCP as i need to connect it to medical devices ?

A: The AVMATRIX SC2030 3G-SDI/HDMI Scaling Cross Converter cannot bypass HDCP.

Q: 6. Does this device test analog signals? Or just digital signals?

A: This is a HDMI to HD-SDI scaler. It converts HDMI signals (which are only HD or "digital") to SDI. (a signal type typically used in broadcast or television studios). I am not sure what you mean by "test", the device doesn't test anything. Although the display does offer confidence that the incoming HDMI signal is present and some basic information about the incoming HDMI signal. HDMI signals are very hard to test and require exotic equipment to truly test the signal (and cable). The Lumantek offers a particularly advanced features typically only found on much more expensive HDMI-HD-SDI converters/sealers; namely the option to set the outgoing resolution as fixed. This feature is particularly useful when using non-scaling video switchers such as the Black Magic ATEM series, which require specific set input specifications/resolutions. If you want to connect more than one HDMI device to the ATEM switcher, such as a DVD and PC, the Lumantek can make sure each HDMI device signal is converted to a single signal standard for use with the ATEM. A: The Lumantek EZ-HSV+ HDMI to SDI Converter with Display and Scaler cannot process 4K.

A: Yes, the Lumantek HDMI/SDI Cross Converter with Audio Mux/Demux and Scaler can convert HDMI to SDI or SDI to HDMI. It would be either or but not both at the same time.

[0.5 lb / 230 g] Had to send HD-sdi to some older displays in our balcony that are fed from 5-bnc. Had to cycle through the resolutions to find the best one, but it works great, and we were able to take out an old scaler that was messing with the image!! 5

[0.5 lb / 230 g] If you have the occasion to need to convert SDI or SDI-HD to VGA then buy this unit. It does what it's suppose to do and it does it extraordinarily well. This is pure video excellence. I realize this is now more of an odd piece but when the need arises choose a DAC-60. 5

[2.6 lb] We are using it to convert from a VGA adaptor / DA to a Black Magic Design switcher for webcast. Used the builtin menu to configure - Black Magic switcher would not show output till we used a separate monitor with variable inputs. 5

[2.6 lb] Bought this because we have an older computer with VGA outputs and we need a specific resolution at our video mixer. So, for us we have a format converter and a scaler in one unit. Makes installing the system less complicated. Also, when we upgrade the computer, we can switch it to use the HDMI input. 5

[5 W maximum] Used these devices to successfully convert SDI content from a Blackmagic ATEM switcher to several HDMI displays. Initial use of Blackmagic SDI/HDMI converters was not successful because the Blackmagic device did not convert the 59.94Hz refresh rate to 60Hz. The Gefen Scaler/Converter is able to do this. One note: You MUST change the Blackmagic ATEM to Level A output from its default Level B. This is on the General Configuration tab. 5
