Related Questions and Answers

Q: 1. can this matt box fits my sony z5u lens if I use a 72mm ring adapter?

A: I don't know that particular lens, whether it moves in and out much. However, I use the matte box with several prime lenses with 72mm IR filters mounted on the front.

Q: 2. I have a canon 2.0 lens with a 95mm thread. I purchased the 95mm flexible adapter ring that fits into this matte box BUT shape doesn't sell a 95mm threaded adapter ring to go on the lens itself. What adapter ring would work so my lens can connect securely into the matte box?

A: Please review the following item in order tp accommodate you 95mm thread size lens. Wooden Camera Zip Box Pro 4 x 5.65 Swing-Away Reduction Rings BH #WO267400 • MFR #267400 https://bhpho.to/3iKTteE SmallRig 95 to 114mm Threaded Adapter Ring for Matte Box BH #SM2661 • MFR #2661 https://bhpho.to/3W56Ft0

Q: 3. Does it take Diopters?

A: The bellows ring included in this kit integrates a 138mm slot for round polarizers. If you are mounting the diopter directly to your lens, you may then use the appropriate clamp-on ring that accommodates the front diameter of the lens.

Q: 4. Is there a 80mm to 114mm ring for this mattebox?

A: There is no 80mm to 114mm ring for the SHAPE Swing-Away Matte Box.

Q: 5. Will 3.35 x 3.35 filters fit in this one?

A: Yes and no. the paperwork supplied with this matte box expressly claims cokin P filters will fit "loosly in slot" I assume that means without the filter tray, though I cant see how that works unless you rotate the back filter position and slide the filter in sideways, otherwise it would simply fall out of the bottom

Q: 6. I have a bmpcc and Veydra lenses. They are 77mm. Will this matte box work with those?

A: The Veydra has a 77mm lens diameter or a 80mm diameter with the hood. Since the Cavision matte box can accommodate 50mm-80mm diameters with the inculded flexibel Donut Ring, you are good to go.

Q: 7. Does this come with mounts to the cage rig?

A: The Cavision 3x3" Matte Box is a clamp on matte box, which clamps onto your lens directly, with or without a rig.

Q: 8. Would 2mm or 3mm filters fit in the metal trays?

A: Yes, the maximum thickness that can fit is 4mm.

Q: 9. Can fit Cokin P Series filters (86mm)?

A: Is Cokin P filter 84mm in width instead of 86mm? cokin "P" filters fit loosely in filter stage slots only without using a filter tray. You can use filter tray locks on the side of the matte box to hold it in place.

Q: 10. Hello, I would like to know if a 2mm-thick filter is working with this mattebox ?

A: This matte box allows for the use of two 4x4" filters. It should accept any filter that is 4x4" in size.

[1.15 lb] 4x4 matte boxes are fine when you're shooting with the right sized camera but I'm using DSLR's a lot now and a full sized matte box looks stupid! The Cavision is the perfect size - the rig looks balanced. The matte box is light and the build quality is fine - it may not stand up to years of commercial work but it's better than a number of other larger matte boxes out there that cost more.

[1.15 lb] Good size and fit for a DSLR video rig. Can be used with a 15mm rail system or attached to the camera lens.

[1.15 lb] Great build quality! I use this with my C300 MK III and although it has built in ND the two trays of the matte box allow for a circular polarizer and a pro mist filter when I want/need them.
It’s fully adjustable and comes with donuts and knickers to block out any and all light.

[1.15 lb] I use it on a Canon 24 to 70mm zoom lens, mounted on a slider with a sony a7s II. you can either attach it to a rail system or as a clamp-on to the lens. If you are going to use it in a portable setup I would only recommend using it with a rail system, the clamp on is good if you are not moving around much.

[1.15 lb] Do I think it's the best matte box money can buy? No. Do I think it's worth it's cost, absolutely 100% And then some. For the price, one would expect it to just fall apart like an Ikea book case. However, the build quality is unexpected based on the price. Feels solid and functions as it should. A great accessory at an even better price for a new film maker looking to build up gear.

[1.15 lb] For the price, this is a great value. Swing out is a must for changing lenses on set. I do wish there was a little more play in the adjustment up and down. I didn't get exactly centered with the lenses on my BMPCC 6K Pro, but it was close enough. Good build quality overall.

[1.15 lb] Ok first off, B&H kinda vets their stuff so I wasn't heistatant to take a chance on this matt box. Upon opening I was surprised for I was expecting a product of way lesser quality. All this thing needs to do is hold filters and block a direct hit from the sun from hitting the lens. I trust that it can do just that and for under a hundred bucks!

Also i was surprised at it's ample tooling making it possible to remove the top and side flags if needed, which will be a plus for me for I'm trying to build my rig as light as possible for handheld / gimbal use.

I didn't want to spend 500-700 on something like PolarPro base kit. I compared weights between their Base Camp and this thing here with the top flag and a filter. The Cavision came in at about 40grams heavier which is about the same weight as two 77mm plastic Canon lens caps. At this price i'll buy two and keep a spare.

This thing has dual filter stages one of which rotates and the holders features a compression spring tab based mech to hold them snug. I mean com'on!!

And I never usually write reviews on stuff because really, who has the time?

[1.15 lb] Well designed and well constructed. Thoughtful, considerate and nimble.
Beyond the quality of this one product I'd like to note how great this company is. I recently had a camera hit the ground on set. Shape didn't just respond to my email and sell me the henge that took the brunt of the fall, they called me, two or three times. They wanted to make sure they got me what I needed, not more, in a timely manner. Their attention and concern has made a fan into a loyal costumer for life.

[1.15 lb] A full featured Matte-box for this price range? I can't find anything that comes close to this until you step into the 1k plus dollar range. I have a Wooden Camera umb-1 with the swing away arm and that cost 3x as much and similar quality(Shape being a high quality brand itself). There's others that have most of the features but with compromises, the tilta mb-T03 for example can't accommodate larger lens diameters for mounting.

It came with a nice foam molded insert that I just popped in a nanuk 915 case with a little plucking. If this came out a year ago I'd have bought two instead of getting the wooden camera Matte Box.

[1.15 lb] I wanted to be able to change lenses without removing my matt box, this filled the bill. I believe it's overpriced considering the materials and design, but if you really need or want something enough, you pay.
