Connect a ball base on an underwater camera tray or grip handle to a lighting arm, or connect two arm sections together. Additionally, you can use the clamp to attach a strobe or video light to the end of an arm. This extended version gives you about an extra 1" of length on each side of the clamp, allowing for greater freedom of movement when using buoyancy compensation arms. The longer reach can also help when mounting a focusing light. Related Questions and Answers

Q: 1. Will this product work with a RRS Plate for Sony A7II?

A: Yes, it will.

Q: 2. What is the base diameter?

A: The base diameter is 2''.

Q: 3. Is there a safety on the lever-release?

A: No, you do not need a safety lock on the RRS lever release. The release plate should have safety pins to prevent the plate from quickly sliding off if you release the lever by mistake.

Q: 4. what size panning clamp is this is it the bh40 size?

A: The Really Right Stuff BH-55 Ball Head with Lever-Release Panning Clamp has a 40mm clamp.

Q: 5. Will this fit a vanguard 265 CB?

A: Yes it is compatible with the Vanguard 265CB.

Q: 6. What do the numbers on the moving pan/swivel represent? Do those numbers (which appear in increments of 15) go all the way through to 360 on BOTH the swiveller at the very ballhead AND on the swiveller at the lever clamp? (They don't seem to on the swiveller at the very bottom of the ballhead, where it attaches to your tripod.)

A: The pan base on the bottom of the Really Right Stuff BH-55 Ball Head is laser engraved in 2.5º increments from ±0º-90º-0º. Located on the main body just below the drop notch is an index mark for tracking progressive panning, used in multi-shot panoramic photography. The precision pan head on the bottom of the Really Right Stuff Lever-Release Panning Clamp is also laser engraved in 2.5º increments, except it is engraved from 0º to 360º.

Q: 7. besides price, why would you want a compact lever-release vs a full size lever?

A: Good question, they really don't make it very clear. According to the RRS website, the compact edition comes with the B2-40 LR lever release style quick release clamp while the full-size edition comes with the B2-AS II 60mm lever style quick release clamp . If you check the RRS website for those parts individually, you can see the differences. The full-size clamp has jaws that are about 0.5 longer than the compact clamp. The weights are also slightly different. There's a thread on DPReview (id 2510302) that suggests the difference doesn't matter if you're just going to use an L-plate. In that case, you can probably go for the compact version.I'm not fully confident though, so take this with a grain of salt.

Q: 8. How easy is it to do fine adjustments for landscapes when shooting at 200-400mm? Is the tension knob useful for this?

A: It's easy to adjust using the tension knob. The tension knob is easy to grip as well.

Q: 9. How is this Lever-Release Clamp vs the screw knob version?

A: Excellent alternative. First it's quicker. Second, you don't have the protruding knob. But in final function mode, either one will do the job.

Q: 10. Is the BH-25 the best choice for use on a platypod ultra? I plan on using it with my Olympus OMD EM1 Mk2 with a 12-40MM lens. Or should I step up to the BH-30 for this use?

A: The Really Right Stuff BH-30 Ball Head with Compact Lever-Release Clamp B&H # REBH30LR would be better to use with the Platypod Ultra since it has nearly double the load capacity of the BH-25.

[5.2 x 3 x 2"] I am using the arms with an aquatic housing, I was previously using Ikelite arms. These are much lighter, and have an o-ring. The o-ring helps with ease of movement when you are underwater. The ones with out never seem to clamp down enough to stop movement as you get in and out of the boat. The clamps are a new design from my old aquatic ones, more compact so that helps with weight. I see a big difference in my whole set up now, you get 3 clamps and 2 arms(8) and 1 ball mount. The clamps are lighter then the ikelite ones too.
