Related Questions and Answers

Q: 1. Can this be used with an Epson Surecolor P900 inkjet printer?

A: Yes, this Awagami Factory Kozo Thin White Paper (17" x 49' Roll) can be used with an Epson Surecolor P900 inkjet printer.

Q: 2. Can I use this paper with Canon Pro series printer ?

A: Marcello, Yes, you can. Almost all papers can be used in all printers. What becomes specific and a help for accurate printing is that Epson, for example, provides profiles that match the paper to the printer. These profiles will probably not be appropriate for the Canon. However, they can be modified and you can create your own with screen and printer products like ColorMunki. But the simple answer is yes, print and then adjust for better results. Hope this helps.

Q: 3. Does this paper use the Photo Black or Matte Black cart in the P600/P800?

A: The Epson Legacy Fibre Paper (8.5 x 11", 25 Sheets) uses a smooth matte black.

Q: 4. Does this paper work OK in the P900 top loader or is it necessary to front load?

A: The Epson Legacy Fibre Paper (17 x 22", 25 Sheets), B&H # EPLEFR1722, can fit on either paper loader.

Q: 5. Can this paper be used with an Epson R1900 printer? Many thanks.

A: Yes, Epson Exhibition Fiber Paper can be used with the Stylus R1900.

Q: 6. Will this paper work with an Epson 1430 Printer?

A: The 1430 normally won't handle the thickness of this paper. I have successfully been able to get one sheet of 11 x 17 to feed in a couple of years of trying.

Q: 7. Will this paper work with Canon Pixma-Pro 100?

A: Yes, it will work fine with the Pro 100, however there is no ICC profile specifically designed for it to be used with that printer.

Q: 8. do you use photo black or matte black with this Epson fiber paper when printing on an Epson 4900 printer?

A: Exhibition Fiber paper by Epson is a semi-glossy paper that requires photo black ink.

Q: 9. Is this paper glossy on both sides? Looking for a good weight paper to build packaging mockups.

A: No, this paper is not mat finish but it is not glossy on the back side .

Q: 10. Does this paper contain optical brighteners? And if so, do we have any information on archival quality? Would there be a difference in longevity of b&w vs. color prints?

A: Exhibition Fiber is a 325-gsm paper with an exceptional white base and is capable of deep, rich blacks. While it has a fiber paper base and is acid-and lignin-free, it does contain optical brighteners. According to Wilhelm Research, framed under UV glass using pigment inks, they say about 150 years. Album/dark storage is around 200 years. This is for both black and white, and color using pigment inks.

[300 gsm] A great paper, not only for photos bur also for printmaking and collage. Love the fact I can put it in my printer so any type of image can be used and then the paper image can be used in another application. The whole line of Awagami papers is fun to explore! Customer service at their website can also answer technical questions which is very helpful for artists!

[Alpha Cellulose] This paper is the best.  You cant go wrong with it (including getting the side wrong), because both sides are coated.  The dynamic range is huge (for matte) and all shades of green do well.  The blacks open up beautifully (because its matte).  The paper is smooth, the images sharp and clear (not smudged as with other matte paper).    A great choice.

[1.8 lb] Recently others have discovered the additional creative options available for fine art printers. The range of Awagami washi presents additional choices with which to render images in a way that is simply not possible when using more prosaic printing papers. Highly recommend trying this paper and others from Awagami. The trial pack is a great way to get started.

[1.8 lb] I am so pleased with how well this paper is working for me. And the ICC profiles for my P900 are surprisingly good (surprising to me at any rate). Now…if I can sell the prints…

[1.8 lb] I just finished printing a portfolio with this paper using an Epson P800 printer. I'm delighted by the results. This is a lightly-textured, matte, Japanese Washi paper. It fed through the printer without problem. Awagami's downloadable ICC profile worked well, although the generic Epson matte paper profile did to. There was some softening of image contrast and color saturation as you'd expect, so don't think of this as a general-purpose paper. For me it worked better with images that didn't have lots of dark areas. This paper is also rather delicate. You have to match the right image to it for it to really make sense, especially given its price. But if you want a paper with a certain tactile quality, this is a beautiful choice.

[1.8 lb] I love this paper. I'm an artist, focused on geometric pattern, mostly printed on Japanese papers the last few years. Inbe Thin is indeed very thin and delicate. It has a beautiful subtle texture.

[Alpha Cellulose] I used a 1922 Austrian woodblock print as the background for a business card. Inbe Thick is about 32 lb paper, the thickest that will go through my b&w laser printer. I've printed on it, torn it, soaked it in water. Its very strong, it tears cleanly and it has a superb subtle, very subtle, texture and its smooth and feels really good. Awagami is a special company. They have about twenty different papers made just for digital printing. Inbe is the whitest. Theres no bleach or brighteners. B&h delivered twenty pages of thick inbe for a little less than forty dollars. I've made a commitment to have Awagami paper.
