Sketching Light: Illustrated Tour of Flash Possibilities (Ebook)from Sketching Light: Illustrated Tour of Flash Possibilities (Ebook)and written by Joe McNally takes us on another memorable ride sketching light using a variety of flash options.

McNally covers Nikon speedlights as well as "in-between" lights like the Elinchrom Quadra. The most important aspect of his instruction is the straightforward, complete, and honest style. No secrets are held back and the principles he talks about apply generally to the shaping and quality of light, not just to an individual model or brand of flash.

He tells readers what works and what doesn't via his "let's-see-what-happens" approach. McNally shows how he sets up his shots with plentiful sketches and behind-the-scenes production shots.

Sketching Light: Illustrated Tour of Flash Possibilities (Ebook)Joe McNally is an internationally acclaimed photographer, whose career has spanned 30 years and included assignments in over 50 countries. He has shot for Time, Sports Illustrated, National Geographic, and Life. He is a recipient of the Alfred Eisenstaedt Award and has been honored by Pictures of the Year International, World Press Photo, The Art Directors Club, American Photo, Communication Arts, and Graphis.

[432] I needed a touring road case to protect my Marshall DSL100H amp head. The newer DSL100H's are larger (about 1 deeper) than the first generation (called JCM2000 DSL100), and my case for my older DSL wouldn't fit my new one. I looked at several of the custom case manufacturers making me a custom case for this sized amp, but the cost of them doing that was way more than the cost of this production line case. And this case rivals the quality of my other custom cases. This case is rock solid. I've had it for a few weeks and it's been protecting my amp on the road from Memphis to Los Angeles and back. The great thing about this case is that it comes with high-density foam blocks of different sizes so that it can be adapted to pretty much any size amp head that will fit on a standard 412 guitar cabinet. I should have bought one of these years ago. It's a large sized road case and is sturdy, so it also weighs accordingly. I will be buying another one soon for one of my other Marshall head that I've been carrying as a backup amp.

[432] I do professional location audio and primarily use a boom pole 99% of the time.  Every now and then the client requests an impromptu voice over session and prefers the feel/vibe of a mic stand to address a microphone.  I keep the TAMA Tour Tabletop Stand and a Tour Straight Stand in my van for such situations.  Im a huge fan of TAMA Iron Works Stands because of their superior build quality.  The Tour Series is a great option--weight wise--for portability and moving around.  For my home studio I prefer the TAMA Studio stands with their extra weight and stability.  This Tabletop Stand works equally well in both of those realms.  TAMA resolved an age old design flaw of other brand mic stands that screw into their bases.  Over time the center post threads can strip or break.  TAMA solved this issue by having the center post insert into a sleeve in the base and fastening from underneath with a T-fastener.  TAMA mic stands are living proof of the old adage buy nice or buy twice.  These are nice stands that should easily outlive you.

[Joe McNally] I bought this for a traveling in and out of the country, specifically needing a case that could go inside the cabin and that would hold my essential gear. I needed a case to hold my gear, something to stand on and a sturdy build for travel and this fills the need perfectly. I have lugged two of these around Europe on extended trips and they still look and feel like new. I have sold both of them to colleagues who were very impressed with the construction. I am on my fourth case and very happy.

[432] I bought the TAMA Tour Mic Stand to take on location audio situations that require a voice over along with specific voice over style microphones. This is primarily for clients that prefer or feel more comfortable having a mic stand. The TAMA Tour Series stand gets a 5 Star rating primarily for its solid build quality with a reasonable weight to keep it portable and easy to transport. I prefer the TAMA Tour round base because the stand does not thread directly into the base ( a weakness of other brand round base stands) and is not subject to cross threading or breakage at the base. The center shaft of the TAMA stand actually slides into the base and is secured by a T-bolt from the bottom side of the round base. Genius! I prefer the TAMA Tour Series to other non-TAMA brands for solid performance, portability and durability. I would not consider adding a boom arm to this particular stand and suspend any of my microphones at any distance away from the main shaft. If you need a boom arm stand get one with a tripod base for stability. For vocalists, public address or voice over this stand will serve you well. Disclaimer: the only stands I like better than the TAMA Tour Series stands are the TAMA Studio Series stands which are the finest mic stands out there. They are extremely stable, built like a tank, and heavy! The Studio Series is hands down the best mic stands you can buy in my book. If you dont move your mic stands around much for location work, get the Studio Series. If you move your mic stands around frequently and portability is at the top of your list, then the Tama Tour Series deserves your serious consideration.

[432] I'm using this rack case to house my nascent collection of 500 series modules, with an eye towards portability. So far the Gator case is proving its mettle. It is built like a tank, conveniently sized, super heavy duty hinges and sprung handles, the works. I feel confident that my gear is protected when it's racked up in this thing.
