A: I and using my iMac and running a projector and 3 TVs in my classroom. I use a display port to hdmi adapter and then hdmi cables to everything else. Not sure if it would be the same for an iPad or not but has worked great off my iMac. Make sure the TVs are on prior to switching it on otherwise itll freak the iPad out a little. My iMac flickers if I leave the hdmi switcher on and then turn the TVs and projector on. Hope this helps.

A: No it can not. It does not have the ability to scale the output to match the display. It will output the lowest common denominator to all displays.
