A: The DX format image area will automatically be selected when a DX lens is attached to the Nikon D610. If you would like to turn this off, you can do so in the camera's menu. The camera would then be able to shoot in FX mode with DX lenses. Conversely, you can also choose to shoot in DX mode with FX lenses if you are looking for a narrower angle of view. All of the information about how to set up the default format, and change format, would start on page 89 of the user manual. This can be found on the D610's page in the Overview section. Do keep in mind, when shooting with a DX lens in FX mode, there will be vignetting.
