The Canon EF Lens to Sony E-Mount Camera Lens Turbo Adapter Mark II from Mitakon allows Canon EF lenses to be mounted on Sony E-Mount APS-C format cameras, increasing the angle of view by 0.726x and the maximum aperture of the lens by 1 f-stop.

The four optical elements of the Lens Turbo adapter condense light from the Canon EF full frame lens and project it onto the camera's APS-C sensor allowing the sensor to capture all of the lens' transmitted light, negating the 1.5x crop factor and effectively producing full-frame coverage on non-full-frame sensors. A corresponding increase in the maximum aperture of 1 f-stop makes the lens more effective in low-light situations.

The Mark II version of the Lens Turbo features an improved design to produce sharper images. Its rectangular rear lens rests closer to the camera's sensor improving light transmission and an enhanced lens coating minimizes ghosting and flare. One extra-low dispersion (ED) lens element reduces aberrations for better delineated images. The adapter offers a sturdy metal construction and stainless steel mounts, it attaches to both camera and lens with little play and includes a front and rear protective cap. The Lens Turbo is a manual adapter offering no electronic communication between lens and camera.

The Lens Turbo adapters are compatible with APS-C sized sensors. Although they will physically fit the Sony full frame mirrorless cameras, the camera must be set to Crop Mode to fully support the speed booster's functions.

Related Questions and Answers

Q: 1. will this adapt ricoh lenses to sony a7 e cameras, if not which adaptor does this ?

A: While you can use the Mitakon Zhongyi Pentax K Lens to Sony E-Mount Camera Lens Turbo Adapter Mark II to mount Pentax K-mount lenses onto a Sony a7, you would need to shoot in APS-C /Crop sensor mode. You would need to use an adapter that is designed for full frame Sony E-mount cameras if you want to take advantage of the a7s full frame sensor. http://bhpho.to/2fVNIdj

Q: 2. I have an a6300 and the FD lenses fit the Zhongyi Adapter fine but I can't get it to fit the a6300 body. Has anyone had this problem? is there something I'm missing or a setting I need? It basically won't thread onto body because the fittings are too shallow

A: There are many who have difficulty with this adapter. We suggest following the instructions regarding the correct procedure in mounting the lens. If still does not work, we then suggest contacting B&H Customer Service for a exchange or refund before 30 days is over.

Q: 3. How do the images produced by FD lenses with this adaptor compare to images produced by FD lenses on Canon film cameras?

A: There is no comparison I am aware of that has been made. This adapter has optics, adding optics to any lens will not make it better. So the most you will get is it will be the same but chances are it will loose some sharpness.

Q: 4. Can this adapter use with FF Ultra Wide Leen? Such as Canon 14mm. 16-35mm .... I have Sony a6500. Thanks.

A: I bought the adapter to try to use on (non full frame) Pentax lenses in hope of using them with a full frame Sony A7R II. For this purpose the adapter did not work, giving a small circular photo's on the Sony.I have no experience of using the adapter with lenses for cameras with the same sensor size.

Q: 5. Does anyone actually use this adapter with Canon 50mm f1.4 FD lens? On some other brands, it specifically stated it won't fit any FD lens with the rear lens protrude far outside of the lens body as it will interfere with the lens inside the adapter.

A: I've used it almost exclusively with the FD 50 f1.4 and it works great. I have the newer FD (the smaller FDn, not the S.C.C. version), so it for sure fits that version.

Q: 6. If I use this adaptor to mount a 50mm k-mount lens on my FS7 (super-35 sensor), will the resulting focal length remain at 50mm or widen to 35mm?

A: Short answer: about 50mmLong answer: Super-35 has a crop factor of approximately 1.4x compared to 35mm full frame, so a 50mm lens mounted on a Super-35 sensor without intervening optics would give about the same field of view as a (50 x 1.4=) 70mm lens does on full frame. A focal reducer like this Mitakon one could increase that field of view to about 50mm. This Mitakon adapter reduces the focal length by 0.726x. I don't know the exact sensor size of the FS7 (because digital Super-35 sensors vary), but assuming it to have a 1.4x crop factor, then with the Mitakon adapter you will get a field of view equivalent to 50mm x 1.4 x 0.726 = 50.88mm on a full frame sensor. One possible caution: This Mitakon focal reducer is designed to project an image circle that does a good job covering a Sony APS-C size sensor. Super-35 sensors have a slightly greater diagonal length, so you 'might' not get good sensor coverage in the extreme corners -- I don't know and haven't tried it with the larger sensor. It works very well on my APS-C camera.

Q: 7. I have a collection of Canon FD lenses. Will this adapter fit the Sony A6000 camera and allow me to use all of my Canon lenses with the camera? I have a Canon 20mm, 24mm, 28mm, 35mm, 50mm, etc, lenses.

A: Most FD glass will work with this adapter, but follow the included instruction so you don't damage the camera or lens. Some FL glass will work, it seems to be about 1 out of 3, the lever pin seems to be to long on some and the infinite setting may not be able to be reached on others. It's great on glass that will work.

Q: 8. does it has aperture control or must be done manual?

A: You will need to set the aperture manually in-camera when using the Mitakon Canon EF Lens to Sony E-Mount Camera Lens Turbo Adapter Mark II.

Q: 9. if i plan to use other mounts, especially FD mount, can i use m42-FD adapters with this? Thanks

A: While this adapter does take the Canon FD mount, there have been no tests confirming that an M42- Canon FD adapter can work on this successfully. Your results may vary.

Q: 10. Does it work with Tamron 24-70 f2.8? And how to change the apature with this lens?

A: While the Mitakon Zhongyi Canon EF Lens to Sony E-Mount Camera Lens Turbo Adapter Mark II may be used with the Tamron SP 24-70mm f/2.8 DI VC USD Lens for Canon Cameras. do note that the Turbo Adapter Mark II does not have an aperture control dial on the adapter ring. As such, you would be limited to using the lens with the aperture set wide open, as Canon EF mount lenses control aperture electronically and there is no mechanism to change the aperture when using this adapter.

[Sony E (APS-C)] I'm completely satisfied with the purchase. It does exactly what it claims. One thing to note is that when you put an FD lens on this adapter, make sure to align the red dot on your lens to the red dot on the adapter and then twist it to the yellow dot and then lock the lens on by twisting back. If you don't align it to the red dot first, you will not have the ability to change the aperture. It's all in the manual but I've seen a lot of comments online where people did not do this and then they automatically assume that the adapter doesn't work. It works, it's great. I love it for video and photo. No autofocus but I knew that when I bought it.

[0.6 lb] I've been using this adapter with some old 70's era Nikkor manual lenses on a Sony a6500 body. Nikkor 35mm f1.4, 85mm f1.8 and 200mm f1.4. These are all non AI* lenses. Be aware this adapter is different than the competition in that it doesn't have an apature ring built in so you need to use manual Nikon lenses with their own focus and aperture controls. The combination of these great manual lenses , with the ability of the 6500 electric view finder with live view manual focus zoom in allows you to get great focused shots easily at wide open aperture. Great adapter to add cheap, fun, stylistic, high quality glass to my setup.

[Sony E (APS-C)] This device gives new life to all my old Canon FD lenses, making them work on my Sony E-mount camera. AND, not only do I get the full benefit of no-crop-factor focal length (which is to say that my 17mm lens is still a very wide angle instead effectively 26mm), I GAIN a full stop of additional light on the sensor, so it goes from being an f4 to an f2.8! Importantly, it does all this without giving up image quality. What's not to like?

[0.6 lb] Easy to use, sharp as a tack. I bought this adaptor to work with my Sony Alpha 6000. It allow me to use F-Mount and AIS Mount Nikkor lenses at their intended focal length with the added bonus of an extra stop of light gathering ability. All the lenses (including a Tamron macro) fit nicely on the adaptor and take crystal clear shots. I strongly recommend this product.

[0.6 lb] The Mitakon adapter is a well constructed product. I have had a couple of months the test the adapter comparing it to a Canon T70 and a Sony A6000. The Canon lenses tested were as follows: 24mm F2.8, 50mm F3.5 Macro, 50mm F1.4, 55mm F1.2, 100mm F2.8, 200mm F2.8, and two Vivitar lenses, the 135mm F2.8, and 300mm F5.5. The focus at infinity was within a quarter of an inch before mechanical stop, except for the 50mm F1.4. It focused to infinity between the 10 and 15 foot marks on the distance scale. Light amplification; the only lens to gain a full F-stop was the 24mm F2.8, all others gained more than a half F-stop bur less then a full F-stop. Angle of View: All lenses lost between 1 and 3 degrees of angle of view, which was very good, nearly nullifying the 1.5 crop factor of the A6000. This adapter has revived all my old Canon FD mount manual focus lenses. The image quality is excellent, far less distortion then the Sony Kit lens and the CA with the old lens is gone, improving my post processing time. A good investment and I would recommend it to anyone with a collection of Canon lenses and a Sony A6000.

[0.6 lb] I bought this adaptor to make my Sony Alpha 6000 a little more interesting. It is a little tricky to attach this to FD lenses, but once you get the hang of it the results are superb. I am using a 50mm f1.4 and a 15mm fisheye with the adaptor. The fisheye has a even exposure to the edges, something that surprised me. The 50mm is effectively working at f 1.0. I have no trouble focusing rapidly with focus peaking and the viewfinder is astounding to look through at night. I can see better through the camera than without it. Working shutter speeds and tack sharp images make this one of my favorite purchases to date. I also bought the Nikon F-mount version and am impresses with the optical properties of both adaptors.
