Combining three distinct effects within a single filter, the Tiffen 4x4" IRND 0.6 Glimmerglass 1/2 Filterfrom Tiffen 4x4" IRND 0.6 Glimmerglass 1/2 Filteroffers a 2 stop exposure reduction, attenuates infrared wavelengths, and slightly softens skin details while adding a glowing quality to highlights. Intended for use with high definition video capture with CMOS and CCD sensors, this filter compensates for the extended red sensitivity of these sensor designs in order to produce cleaner, more accurate colors and also takes the over-sharpened "digital edge" off for a smoother image quality. The filter is constructed from water white optical glass for maintained clarity and measures 4 x 4" / 101.6 x 101.6mm to pair well with lightweight or clip-on matte boxes.

Alleviating the need to use multiple filters at once, this filter combines three distinct effects to reduce the number of filter surfaces in use.

IRND 0.6 filter offers a 2 stop exposure reduction to permit working with longer shutter speeds or wider aperture settings than normally required.

Infrared attenuating design is proportionate to the neutral density value, and helps to ensure clean, accurate colors and true blacks.

Glimmerglass effect produces glowing highlights; helps to soften skin details, blemishes, and wrinkles; and offers a slight reduction in contrast for a more ethereal image appearance

When viewed from the subject's perspective, the filter appears to be sparkling and helps to instill confidence in models, resulting in a potentially better performance.

No. 1/2 diffusion strength provides the least amount of softening, which is less than the 1 strength.

Constructed from water white optical glass for maintained image quality.

Measures 4 x 4" / 101.6 x 101.6mm and is ideally suited for use with lightweight clip-on matte boxes.

Related Questions and Answers

Q: 1. Does the picture stay in focus down the zoom range

A: This is best for for shooting situations in which zooming need is minimized for this is a partial zoom adapter. It will allow zooming only from wide angle to mid-range and you must use auto focus mode. Also note: it has a bayonet mount meant for attaching it directly to the lens of the Sony HVR-Z7U and HVR-S270U.

Q: 2. Will the adapter work on a Sony DSC RX 10 IV, which has a fixed 24-600 zoom lens?

A: No. The Cavision LWA06X72-HVX-HD100 has a larger 82mm filter thread attachment and would not work with your cameras 72mm thread. Two other 0.6x wide angle choices that would work are - https://bhpho.to/3QV1hXn or https://bhpho.to/3CuZAvv

Q: 3. What size filter does it take?

A: Unfortunately this auxiliary lens is not designed to be able to mount any filter on to it.

Q: 4. is this lens has internal focus system compatible for matte box?

A: This is correct, there is no external movement of the lens barrel when focusing the Milvus 2.8/18 lens.

Q: 5. Apertura of the lenses manual?

A: Unfortunately, I am not sure what you are asking based on the phrasing of your inquiry listed above. If you are asking for the aperture of the ZEISS Milvus 18mm f/2.8 ZE Lens for Canon EF, the lens would have a maximum aperture of f/2.8 and a minimum aperture of f/22. If that was not your question, I would have to recommend e-mailing your inquiry to askbh@bhphoto.com and we will attempt to assist you via e-mail.

Q: 6. is this lens ONLY Manual focus?

A: Hi! Yes, the Milvus line for Nikon cameras are a manual focus lens.

Q: 7. Does this lens work fully with Nikon film cameras such as the FM3a? Meaning, does it only work in stop-down mode or does it allow full operation wide open and then close down to the set aperture at the moment of exposure?

A: The following lens will adapt to all Nikon F-Mount Lens/FX Format As well the manual aperture ring can be de-clicked.

Q: 8. Is this lens suitable for cinema camera use? The balloon shape end makes me think it would be difficult to attach a matte box for instance. Also, does the lens extend and retract during focus?

A: Yes. We suggest the following Matte box when using this lens. Cavision 3 x 3 Swing-Away Matte Box Package with 15mm Bracket for DSLR Cameras BH #CAMB3485S15B • MFR #MB3485S-15FBSA-DSLR https://bhpho.to/3xg7a8v

Q: 9. If I buy this along with the Lamparte DSLR Starter Rig B&H # LABSK01, do I need to also buy 2 short rods for the front to mount the matte box?

A: You should be able to get away without it., Unless you are using a really long lens. You will have to adjust the camera to connect to the the matte box. I don't have the extension and it works fine for me with a GH4.

Q: 10. Hi, can i use this wide angle adapter on a 82mm front diameter dslr full frame lens ? would it work and would i get infinity focus ? THANK YOU

A: We do not see a reason it will not work. However, each combination is different so we cannot say for sure. I can say that B&H has a generous 30 day return policy if you are not satisfied with your purchase.

[Glass] Tiffen Filters are always the best when it comes to build quality, reliability and options they provide. I am super happy with my 2 Set of Glimmerglass!!:) They make the image naturally gloomy without washing out the entire scene.

Also B&H did a perfect job on shipping and customer contact! I live in Germany and my package arrived only 4 days after my order was placed. Thanks, you guts are the best!

[Glass] So I have used the GlimmerGlass series a lot as a large matte-box filter on the cinema cameras. But sometimes I go and shoot inserts on a lighter setup with my FX6 and a Zoom lens. For that purpose this filter is absolutely perfect. If the 1/2, 3/4 and 1/4 become available as 82mm filters I will purchase them.

[Glass] Great diffusion filter that adds soft contrast to take off the digital edge while retaining sharpness. Would highly recommend over other diffusion filters.

[Glass] I was looking for a filter that would bloom the highlights and practical light sources without decreasing the overall contrast of the image, and I think this was just the filter I wanted. Compared to Black Pro Mist and especially Cinebloom, the shadow levels and sharpness are maintained with this filter. The diffusion is just enough for me. To me, it seems it blooms the highlights and light sources just enough to look like my image was shot on film, but without being too dramatic or noticeable. I think if I were going for a more dreamy look, I'd go with a higher Glimmerglass strength or use something like Cinebloom.

[Glass] Any time I decide on diffusion filters, the biggest considerations for me are the strength of halation and the amount of contrast I'm looking for. I usually default to Hollywood Black Magic as my standard diffusion filter. When I want something stronger and a big more vintage feeling I'll reach for Black Pro Mist. When I want something much more subtle, I'll go for Glimmerglass because the halation is under much better control than the other two. I usually aim for a 1 strength when I want to see the effect. Even then, it doesn't feel too strong.

[Glass] Works well so far, and is less obscene than even 1/4 black pro mist can be. And price is fair. Now why do these filters cost 500% more in rectangular shape?

[Glass] Lots of reviews suggest the 1/8 for a more 'filmic look but I found that I needed the 1/4 strength to get that effect.

Note that focal length and the quality of the light itself will impact the outcome.

A note regarding the GG1: This provides a very noticeable effect in most cases. Maybe a tad too much for everyday use.

Tiffen needs a magical filter that works on the jpeg but leaves the raw alone !
