A: No. After thirty minutes, the camera will automatically stop recording. However, you can just start recording right after. The camera will make a new file when the current file hits 4GB which is the file size limit for the SD Card File System that the camera uses. (Fat32) So say you are recording in 4k, 5 or so minutes of recording will create a 4GB file. The camera will keep recording but just split it into multiple files. The only times the camera will stop recording is if the 30 min limit is reached or if the camera runs out of memory or battery.

That said, it is in fact quite solidly built, it just seems like they didn't pay attention to tactile feeling, which admittedly is more a marketing thing than an engineering thing.
