Related Questions and Answers

Q: 1. Is this compatible with balanced or unbalanced XLR?

A: The VXLR+ is designed to convert high voltage phantom power used with pro balanced XLR mic inputs into much lower bias voltage (plug-in power) that is needed by many unbalanced electret condenser mics like lavalier mics and shotgun style camera mics.

Q: 2. Can this allow me to use a RODE videomicGO on a SONY HXR-NX100? The Sony only has XLR inputs.

A: It should. I use it on all my cameras that have XLR inputs and it works great.

Q: 3. Can I use this with a Xlr splitter? I want to split a Lav mic into two inputs.

A: This would not be a recommended practice.

Q: 4. Hello. I have the f3 zoom. Is this adapter necessary with phanton power??? because the f3 has the option to give phantom power. I don't understand very well what it would be used for

A: The RODE VXLR+ 3.5mm TRS Female to XLR Male Adapter with Phantom Power Converter would be used when you have a lavalier microphone with a 3.5mm connector, and you want to connect it to an XLR input. Lavalier microphones require a certain type of power, which is different from the 48v phantom power provided by XLR audio recorders. This adapter can convert that 48v phantom power to the special plugin power the lavalier needs. Compatibility will depend on the specific model of your lavalier.

Q: 5. I'd like to use the 9V battery powered Rode Videomic (VIDEOMIC-R) to connect with a Zoom PodTrak P4. Will a standard VXLR converter work with that, or do I need this VXLR+ for it? Thanks!

A: With 9V battery installed, the standard VXLR converter will work.

Q: 6. What is the plastic clip it comes with used for?

A: That clip allows the user to attach the VXLR+ to a belt if using a lav with it.

Q: 7. I'd like to connect my on cam cold-shoe shotgun mic (sennheiser, takes AAA) to audio mixer (zoom F4). Is this what I'm looking for?

A: You can use that but it isn't necessary. You can use a simpler adapter like B&H # KOAXMMF or B&H # ROVXLRB&H # ROVXLR

Q: 8. Will this work with VC1 3.5mm 10' Extension cable that requires a plugin power or do I need VXLR Pro ?

A: Yes the Rode VC1 extension cable will work with the Rode VXLR+ adapter.

Q: 9. Will a 3.5mm input plug without threads work with the VXLR+?

A: Yes, a non-threaded 3.5mm input will work with the RODE VXLR+ 3.5mm TRS Female to XLR Male Adapter with Phantom Power Converter, the threading is simply for locking connections.

Q: 10. Can this be used as an adapter for PA's or DJ's desks into a XLR input on a recorder?

A: The Rode VXLR+ 3.5mm TRS Female to XLR Male Adapter with Phantom Power Converter is typically used to adapt microphones with 3.5mm wiring to XLR inputs, however this adapter could presumably work in the same manner with a line level 3.5mm connection from a DJ deck into a line level XLR input on a recorder.

[Gold-plated] I use this Y-cable for connecting two audio cords (from my desktop speakers) to my computer which only has one stereo output. It is great and I have not found any flaws. I will see how it will hold up in the long run.

[Gold-plated] No loss in quality, great to get good audio of an interview and use your shotgun mic instead of having to buy a boom mic.

[20' (6 m)] I've purchased mostly Pro Co cables for 35 years and they have never let me down. With supply chain issues I've had difficulty getting some types, so I thought I would give this one a try. This cable seems to be great quality too, but only time will tell how durable it is. My 35 year old Pro Co cables are still working flawlessly.
