Designed for film production on the move, the FilmLight Slate Control Surface for Color Gradingis a portable, high-precision color-grading panel with context-sensitive controls. Its keys are back-projected and adaptive to show you the functions available to you within your current operation. Moreover, to allow multiple features to be supported, sets of buttons can be swapped into different modes quickly and easily.

One of the most powerful features of Slate is the ability to define custom functionality using the Chalk utility (available separately). Chalk for Slate allows you to customize button layouts for Slate panels. You can select between preset button layouts, make your own unique layouts, and edit the functionality of individual buttons. The Slate control surface is suited to working with the Baselight Editions within your editing or compositing system, and is equally at home with the full Baselight color grading system and with the Daylight platform for the On-Set Dailies system.

All keys are soft-configured so that any operation can be assigned to any key, and have a dynamically displayed label or image that shows the exact context in every operation directly on the key.

Slate features twelve limitless optical encoders for rotary input. Each encoder has an integrated push switch for further operations.

Slate employs two display screens to give the colorist clear and instant feedback. They not only display the values for the current operation, but also show the flow of operations to assist in navigation with more complex tasks.

All controls vary in range, sensitivity, and feedback depending on the operation. The function and labelling of keys, encoders, and displays changes seamlessly with every operation. Slate only illuminates the active controls to speed up navigation.

The trackballs feature a six-contact point mounting system, ensuring movement is easy in every direction, with third-axis rings designed to float precisely under the lightest touch.

[2x Color LCD] It may be a tad on the expensive side(more than the Wirecast program itself) but for us running a two and soon-to-be 3 camera live stream for our church, this is simply a must-have! Our workflow has decreased dramatically and having the full controls of the Wirecast at your fingertips there is no choice. Get this switcher!

[2x Color LCD] My clients have never commented on the expensive camera's and lenses I bring to a shoot. But when I bring out the Slate, their eyes light up and suddenly it feels like Hollywood. Get a slate. Even if you don't actually need it. Your clients will be impressed.

[2x Color LCD] I have to admit that I was a little worried about investing in a control surface with all of the many choices that are available. I missed out on the C24 and finally came to the point of seriously needing a trusted control surface to help my work flow in my home studio. Mackie is the brand that we all know plus I have owned several of the old analog boards throughout my journey. Pro Tools and UAD hardware are my tools of choice. The MCU Pro solved my tracking and mixing needs and is the perfect bridge to my creativity. It requires a learning curve at first but once you get to know the controller and how it works it is an invaluable tool. 100 percent satisfied with my choice and financial investment for my studio. Definitely wish I had done this sooner.

[23.25 lb] When Avid dropped support of their C24 and Control 24 the units were worthless overnight. So was the furniture that housed it. I decided to drop Avid hardware completely. I checked out an MCU Pro V3.0 about a year ago and hated the feel of the faders. I think at the time they used P&G. The updated 4.0.3 MCU Pro now has Alps faders which are every bit as smooth as sensitive as the Avid/Focusrite faders and the unit is clearly sturdier than Avid Artist Mix. ProTools 11 setup takes literally a few moments. It AMAZES me how Avid drops support for their own hardware, but continues support for third-party hardware. MCU also integrates perfectly with Studio One 3, my new production DAW. This unit is a winner. DON'T BUY USED. The older ones (V3.0) have resistant, noisy faders which can't be swapped. Avid forced me to change my style of production - for the better. Thank you, Avid, for encouraging me to shop elsewhere.

[23.25 lb] If you own the Mackie MCU Pro this is a no brainer!!! It’s expensive but it adds immediate value to your tracking and mixing capabilities. The only reason why I don’t own two of them is because I need the spare midi ports to plug up my MPC 2000XL and Nord Stage 3 into my MCU Pro! Do yourself a big favor and purchase one if you are on the fence. Once you get one you will immediately be glad that you did.
