Related Questions and Answers

Q: 1. The L-angle plug does not fit through my cage that encloses my blackmagic pocket camera. Where can I get a straight plug adapter or extension so I can plug the L-angle plug of this IndiPRO Grid to the power port on the camera?

A: Unfortunately there is not a solution for adapting this right angle connector to a straight connector.

Q: 2. Will this work with the c200?

A: Yes it will. The C200 uses the same battery system as the C300 Mark II.

Q: 3. Will this work with the c300 markiii?

A: Yes, the C300 III uses a 4-pin Lemo for power.

Q: 4. Is there an easy way to mount this if you're not using rails? I'm thinking of getting a cage so would want to mount it using a shoe or screw mount. Does the clamp come off?

A: The clamp comes off. There is a 1/4 -20 screw hole. If you get that cage, I suggest keeping the battery close and rigidly mounted to it. I think an arm would cause balance issues. Here are two pieces that will hold the Power Grid. Pearstone Accessory Shoe Adapter with 1/4 -20 Stud Connector B&H # PEAMM1420 and DM-Accessories BOT-FLAT Handle or Underside Camera Shoe Mount (Black) B&H # DMBOTFLAT.

Q: 5. About how much runtime will two new fully charged LP-E6 batteries give you with an A7S compared to the original battery?

A: We have user reports of 4 or more hours of run time with the IndiPRO Tools 8PASA7.

Q: 6. Is this product made of metal?

A: The rail mounting clamp and bolt are metal. The battery and microphone input block is plastic (except for electrical connections and a few small pieces on the xlr inputs. The plastic has so far held up fine -- without receiving 'kid glove' treatment. Biggest issue is that there is nothing that locks batteries in place, and the shape makes rigging a solution a bit of a chore. As a cord-cutter, we've ran a BMPCC for a good eight hour day with almost no off-time, and plenty of checking takes - and could have gone hours more. Keep an eye on camera temp during extended 'camera on' shoots - especially if shooting time lapse in RAW format - parts of the camera can get too hot to touch and suffer damage. This not an 'approved' Blackmagic device, so may lack some form of power management on a camera that has no self-cooling system. Note the xlr inputs are just converters (not a preamp and offer no phantom power). Otherwise, a good, budget solution with a touch of DIY to keep batteries on the unit. For pro use, there are better and, naturally, more expensive choices. That said, ours is still in the field...

Q: 7. Where does it mount to the Pocket Camera?

A: It's designed to mount on rails, not the camera itself, but the rail mount can be unscrewed leaving a 1/4-20 hole if you want to mount it another way.

Q: 8. Will this work with the A7/m2?

A: Yes it will, this will work with all the cameras in Sony's A7 line up, including the A7SII.

Q: 9. does it include the batteries?

A: No this unit does not include batteries. All batteries are sold separately.

Q: 10. Will this setup give the "Battery Not Supported" issue when used with a Sony a9?

A: This is designed to work with the Sony A9 camera. It should not give you such an issue.

[12 to 16 VDC ] When I invested in the BMPCC 6K, like many others, I was disappointed in the battery life. I have several V-mount batteries for lights, and wanted to find an inexpensive way to power the camera. I found this item in an online review, and decided to try it out for the price. The BMPCC 6K is very lightweight, so the V-Mount battery heft isn't as bad. This plate is also super lightweight, mostly because it is made from a thin sheet metal. It isn't machined, or milled out like other camera mounting systems. It does a great job, but it could be a little more sturdy on the rail mounts. I have to fidget with the V-Mount lock sometimes to get it to connect solidly, but once it is in, it won't move. There are 3 diamond shaped holes on the underside, and you can see the thin wires that connect to the external cable. I wish that they were shielded all the way out to the connector. BUT, for the price, you can't beat it.

[Aluminum] It’s a simple plate. My favorite thing is being able to swing it back to see the bmpcc 4K screen when I need to get into menus. This keeps my rig more compact while shooting.

[Gold Mount] Straight forward design v-mount battery plate with Canon LP-E6 dummy battery. This dummy battery has proper slots to fit perfectly into accessories that use canon batteries. Can power a BlackMagic Design Micro Cinema Camera, many monitors, or Canon DSLR cameras. Steps it down to proper 7V. Comes with 15mm clamp already built into v-mount plate for easy mounting.

[Gold Mount] We often have a mobile camera on our productions and having to mount our gold mount batteries with zip ties wasn't the ideal scenario, especially if we had to change mid-show. This mounted to our rig easily and makes it easy to swap out and doesn't offset the balance. The flexibility of mounting options also helps us both access other screws on the rig if needed and doesn't lock us into a specific orientation.

Add a power adapter or two for your devices (which we did), and this little piece of engineering becomes one of your new best friends. Sometimes simple really is best.

[12 to 16 VDC ] The ability to tild the battery on an angle makes it perfect on a based of a DIY Steadycam sled. I can move it horizontally on the 15mm rails plus tilt it up or straight horizontally. All that powering a wireless Hollyland Mars 300 and a 2200nit 4K 7 monitor! Take that tilta, wooden and smallrig!

[19 mm Rod Mount] I bought this as a replacement for the Wooden Camera version (which happens to be 2x the cost of the IndiPRO product). So far, we're loving it and we especially like how this product attaches to our 15mm rods so it's out of the way of the default battery ports on the backside of our Red Komodo. That in turn allows us to not have any issues plugging in SDI cables on the backside. Highly recommend this product to any Red Komodo owners.

[12 to 16 VDC ] I don't want to spend outrageous money for a V-Mount solution. If I did video/cinematography as a pro, then yes. For me it's a hobby. I was able to do some elegant jury rigging, and fit a much less costly, high power battery solution on my BMPCC4K rig, for about 1/5th the price of v mount.
