[85°] This product definitely matched my needs. I was looking for a led light that was both compact and powerful enough to light my subjects during wedding portraits or events and this definitely gets the job done.
Now I have a good led light, powerful enough and the size & weight of my smartphone.

[Metal (Housing)] I bought one of these for an improvised indoor photo studio for pictures of small objects, dishes, for example. I get diffused sunlight from a very large window at one side but the other side of of an object would be in shadow. I crank the color temp to 5600K to come close to natural light and get good color rendition. It's also handy to adjust the brightness to get the same exposure all around the object. It's also good to be able to adjust the height of the LEDs to put the light where needed on an object of somewhat complex shape. One lamp is enough for my objects but using another would be useful for something that has a hollow needing light from a third direction.
This light as functioned perfectly all of these ways. It's very easily adjusted. I like the data about battery life since I prefer using the light without a charging cord that might be bumped to knock the lamp over. It's stable enough to not have much hazard of that when battery operated. The battery power is plenty since I can only use my studio midday when the sun's shining.
I would suggest only one change and it's not a big deal. There's a rotatable ring around the shaft which had notches for folding the legs against the shaft when not in use. The ring is rotated one sixth of a turn to hold the legs deployed when in use. It would be good to have a shallow detent between the notches so that the legs in the notches would gently lock the ring from inadvertent rotation. It's not a big deal since there's plenty of friction between the ring and deployed legs if you just press them up to start with. I don't consider this a defect, it would just be a cheap safety feature some users would like.
Clearly a five star rating for my purposes.

[50 W ] Great little light. Have only used for macro (flowers & seashells) so far but was impressed. Easy to use on camera and off, and the power and color increments give you the exact light you need. Thanks to B&H for the great deal also!

[12.17 lb] This light is super impressive, the RGB colors are very pure and the flexibility with white balance is very very useful when working with mixed lighting on location. The app is pretty good, but the on-screen controls are so well implemented I usually just adjust things there. Yeah it's pricier than budget lights but the quality of the output and flexibility is very valuable. The design may also not please everyone (I love it), but it seems incredibly durable and a good balance of discreet and eye-catching. The only weaknesses I found were how bulky the protective case is, and the effects were not as extensive or impressive as some other brands (though, that seems pretty clearly not really the point of this light).


Huge kudos as well to the Kelvin support team. I purchased mine used here on B&H and a the previous owner had removed and disassembled a part and stuck it in a bag. Kelvin support were not only willing to send me detailed instructions on how to fix it, but even mailed some replacement pins at no cost to me. Amazing support, very confidence inspiring!


It's definitely a bit of a jump to pick this over other lights, especially when cheaper and more powerful options are available. However, if you like the idea of buy once and the design and durability appeal to you as they did to me, this might the perfect light.

[50 W ] Great quality first of all. It comes with a silicone diffusion panel which really helps softening the light further more.

I mainly use it for Zoom meetings, but it still works well for small video projects.

[12.17 lb] Gave it to my wife for office meeting as they all have to show their faces when in meetings and she loves it!

appears to be solid quality , no complaints , controls are intuitive and easy to manipulate .
BE ADVISED , as you see in reviews , you can NOT use just ANY usb charge set up .. my apple phone or ipod does NOT work to charge .
That is my only complaint .. I should not have to purchase an adapter
or stand alone charger for this unit .. should be a Plug and Play item..
having said that , I am Satisfieed with item .. and Recommend this ..

[50 W ] Ive used Arri panels on set and now I see litepanels everywhere, and yes you of obviously going to get more with those other brands, especially in the build quality. But for these lights being the 999$ they are nuts. I would say you could do 70-80% of what a 2x1 litepnale could do, but for 1/5 of the cost. They are super bright. I liked these so much I bought 2 more.
