The gray Sanken COS-11D Lavalier Mic with TA4F Connectoris a subminiature lav microphone designed to deliver clear, full-bodied sound and reliable performance, making it a popular choice among industry professionals in broadcast, TV, theater, film, videography, and more.

Engineered to meet the standards of modern digital wireless microphone systems, the COS-11D is RF shielded to eliminate interference issues and ensure a pristine audio signal. The microphone capsule features a rectangular design that sits vertically, increasing the surface area and allowing this tiny mic to offer a rich, full sound that outperforms many larger models.

The mic's 50 Hz to 20 kHz frequency response rolls-off extreme low end and provides accurate, transparent audio reproduction with a small presence boost in the 6 kHz area for crisp, intelligible speech. With a forgiving omnidirectional polar pattern that picks up sound in a 360° pattern, levels stay consistent even when the subject turns away from the mic.

A water-resistant mesh screen protects against humidity, perspiration, makeup, bad weather, and other potential on-location issues, while the durable cable is also moisture-resistant and built to stay soft and pliable, even after extended use. This version of the COS-11D terminates in a TA4F connector and is wired for use with Trantec transmitters. Accessories are available separately and are not included with this configuration of the microphone.

Related Questions and Answers

Q: 1. Does this has extreme wether proof design and RF rejection like NTG3 and Senn MKH416?

A: The Sanken is fairly robust in adverse weather, but it is not weather-proofed. Its directionality is comparable depending on the environment.

Q: 2. How exactly do you use these? Do you put one on the mic or multiple? I find no instructions on using them.

A: They go one on the top of the other till the microphone fits properly inside the camera mount/shock mount you trying to use the microphone with.

Q: 3. Is this mic compatible to be used with a Denecke PS power supply? I'm having a problem, cause I just hear a loud hum noise and no transmitter signal. I tried it with other mics and transmitters, and I hear the same loud hum noise.

A: Yes, the Sanken CS-M1 can be used with the Denecke PS-1A or PS-2 which are both compatible 48V phantom power supplies. The Denecke PS-T is not compatible for use with the CS-M1 because it is a 12V "T-power" supply intended for use with older microphones that require lower voltage and the CS-M1 requires 48V phantom power.

Q: 4. Will the o rings fit with the Rode NTG3 on AG-UX90 that the holder is set up for 21mm?

A: I use the o rings on an NTG3 on my canon c300 and it works well.

Q: 5. Is this the latest version with ground protection?

A: Yes it is. This is the latest version of the Lentequip SafeTap Connector and it features Ground Protection.

Q: 6. Do these fit the Sennheiser MKH 416?

A: Yes, these will work with the 416. Please let us know if you have any futher questions.Best,Peter Hannigan323-845-1171Sanken/plus24

Q: 7. Does this Rycote Softie Kit MFR #033395 work with Schoeps CMC641-- MFR #CMC641G SET?

A: Yes, the Rycote 033395 Softie Kit for Sanken CS-M1 Microphone with Windshield and Shockmount can also be used with the Schoeps CMC641 Set Colette Series Supercardioid Microphone.

Q: 8. Can I simply attach this to a shoe mount on the FX3 and use it?

A: Yes. The CS-M1 will work with the FX3

Q: 9. I'm very fond of Sanken mics personally. Thus I wanted to ask how is the reach on this mic. Is there anything you guys could tell in that regards? I know it's not a shotgun mic, however it's Super Card.

A: It very similar to most of other shotgun mics (and it's a shotgun mic). Not as directional as Sennheiser 416, so I wouldn't recommend if you need to capture sounds outdoors very far away.

Q: 10. Will the o rings fit with the Rode NTG2 on Sony's PXW-X70?

A: Thank you for you inquiry. The O-Ring is normally used with the CS1E which is 19mm and the Rode NTG2 is 22mm. I would say that should not be too much of a stretch and will work fine. Please let us know if you have any other questions or concerns.Best,Peter Hanniganplus24/Sanken323-845-1171

[Plug-In Power] I have yet to find a better all-purpose lag for interviews. Not much else to say, worth the money.

[Plug-In Power] This microphone is excellent. Durable. The sound is very clean and high quality. If black is worn, the black mic is invisible on camera.

[Gray] I had to return Rode Wireless Filmmaker Kit due to a mediocre SQ and was going through Sound Bible over and over again in search of an answer... I think I found it! Won't compare this two, but rather simply state that it cannot be better, I'm very satisfied with what this mic has to offer, and I'm willing to deal with cable until I find wireless system producing same results... Top notch craftsmanship and performance. VERY sensitive and requires only 9 o'clock gain on my SD MixPre-D for a strong clean signal. Love it!
