The white Sanken COS-11D Omni Lavalier Microphone with Reduced Sensitivity and LEMO 3-Pin Connector for Zaxcom Transmitters is a subminiature lav microphone designed to deliver clear, full-bodied sound and reliable performance, making it a popular choice among industry professionals in broadcast, TV, theater, film, videography, and more.

Engineered to meet the standards of modern digital wireless microphone systems, the COS-11D is RF shielded to eliminate interference issues and ensure a pristine audio signal. The microphone capsule features a rectangular design that sits vertically, increasing the surface area and allowing this tiny mic to offer a rich, full sound that outperforms many larger models.

The mic's 50 Hz to 20 kHz frequency response rolls-off extreme low end and provides accurate, transparent audio reproduction with a small presence boost in the 6 kHz area for crisp, intelligible speech. With a forgiving omnidirectional polar pattern that picks up sound in a 360° pattern, levels stay consistent, even when the subject turns away from the mic.

A water-resistant mesh screen protects against humidity, perspiration, makeup, bad weather, and other potential on-location issues, while the durable cable is also moisture-resistant and built to stay soft and pliable, even after extended use. This version of the COS-11D terminates in a 3-pin LEMO connector and is wired for use with Zaxcom transmitters. A metal windscreen, holder clip, rubber mount, and plastic case are included.

Related Questions and Answers

Q: 1. Can I wire a 3.5mm end to this?

A: Yes, the CUB-01 Boundary Microphone (Beige) comes unterminated and can be terminated with a 3.5mm TRS connector.

Q: 2. Will the o rings fit with the Rode NTG2 on Sony's PXW-X70?

A: Thank you for you inquiry. The O-Ring is normally used with the CS1E which is 19mm and the Rode NTG2 is 22mm. I would say that should not be too much of a stretch and will work fine. Please let us know if you have any other questions or concerns.Best,Peter Hanniganplus24/Sanken323-845-1171

Q: 3. Can this windjammer be used with a Sennheiser ME-4 lav mic?

A: I use it fine with the ME-2 lav mic. I have never used it with the ME-4 which is a little fatter on top but this windjammer stretches and looks like it should fit the ME-4. The windjammer only cost $20 so you might order it and try it out and if it doesnt work with your mic then you can return it.

Q: 4. Will this work with the Shure MV7? Or is it too light?

A: In this case, the O.C. White Podcast Pro by Accu-Lite Mic Boom Package has a pre-determined boom tension and is made specifically for microphones weighing between 1.4 and 2.5lb. The Shure MV7 Podcast Microphone has a specified weight of 1.21lb and therefore may not be completely compatible with this mic boom for optimal functionality.

Q: 5. Will this setup work out of the box with EVRE20 & SMB7?

A: Yes, the O.C. White Podcast Pro can be used with the RE20 and SM7b. You will just need to have a mount or shockmount for the mic. The Podcast Pro has a standard 5/8" thread like a typical mic stand.

Q: 6. Hi, I just ordered this mic a couple weeks ago. So far it has not shown to turn on or record any audio, nor did I receive an instruction manual with it. I have plugged it into my canon 5d mark III and also a Zoom H5 recorder, and both have giving me no sound from the mic and some plug in noise. No levels are shown to record. I have not been able to find any troubleshooting pieces on line. Can you help me?

A: This microphone requires power you need to send it 48V

Q: 7. Will this work with the rode ntg2 and the canon c100 markII?

A: Yes, the Sanken rubber O-rings will work with the Canon C100 MKII to secure the Rode NTG2.

Q: 8. All this does is stand straight up how do I adjust the tension?

A: The weight of the microphone is enough to prevent it from standing straight up. This works with most mics but it is possible you are using a mic that is too light for the arm.

Q: 9. I have a question about that "included threaded stud to connect to the microphone's holder"...is that included with the mic or with the OC White Acculite? I have both of these items and the mic does not fit perfectly (flush) on the OC White...which has a 5/8 standard thread. The PodMic has a 3/8 thread with a PARTIAL 5/8 thread...so when you attach it to the OC White it only goes about halfway on...it's firmly on, but it's only half way...not "flush" as in the pictures.

A: The Rode Podmic has a removable 3/8-inch adapter, and can be connected flush on to any studio arm with a 5/8- inch threaded stud.

Q: 10. How wide does the clamp open up to?

A: This clamp is for a 1.5-inch thick desktop, but can open up to almost 2-inches.

[3 to 10 V] The profile and discreet size of this mic combined with the exceptional sound really make it hard to beat. Where discretion is needed for film production, this might just be your golden ticket. It's incredibly versatile and able to be fitted to talent in a wide variety of ways. My favourite is taped vertically inside the shirt behind the buttons. The factory lapel clasp is one of the best I've used in 20 years of audio experience.

[Omnidirectional] Normally, I record with XLR mics, the Tram TR50 or Sennheiser MKH416, onto a Sound Devices 702. Pretty high quality setup. This microphone takes the Sennheiser wireless packs from terrible (with the included ME2 mics) to pretty good. (that's supposed to be a compliment) Perhaps a bit hot on the high end, but so much crisper and clearer than the ME2s. Worth the money.

[3 to 10 V] Clear, crisp sound. Works perfect with our Sennheiser Evo Wireless. The amount of ambient noise this mic rejects is unbelievable. May seem pricey, but it's extremely well worth it!

[3 to 10 V] I devoted a lot of time to researching lavalier microphones before I settled on the Sanken COS-11D. I looked and listened to all of the on-line comparisons I could find and read the technical data. I wanted top sound quality for spoken voices and different options to conceal the microphone. B&H had the XLR connector model in stock and it fulfills all of my wishes. Additionally I have a Sony ECM-55B lavalier, a great mic with a long reputation (and also a great deal from the B&H Used store) but it is relatively large in size. Ive tested the Sony vs the Sanken in different environments and bottom line, the Sanken is the clear winner for overall sound quality. it is that much cleaner and crisper with a lively presence and brightness, even when tucked behind a collar. I will buy another one of these if/when I need another lavalier.
