The gray Sanken COS-11D Omni Lavalier Microphone with Normal Sensitivity and LEMO 3-Pin Connector for Zaxcom Transmitters is a subminiature lav microphone designed to deliver clear, full-bodied sound and reliable performance, making it a popular choice among industry professionals in broadcast, TV, theater, film, videography, and more.

Engineered to meet the standards of modern digital wireless microphone systems, the COS-11D is RF shielded to eliminate interference issues and ensure a pristine audio signal. The microphone capsule features a rectangular design that sits vertically, increasing the surface area and allowing this tiny mic to offer a rich, full sound that outperforms many larger models.

The mic's 50 Hz to 20 kHz frequency response rolls-off extreme low end and provides accurate, transparent audio reproduction with a small presence boost in the 6 kHz area for crisp, intelligible speech. With a forgiving omnidirectional polar pattern that picks up sound in a 360° pattern, levels stay consistent, even when the subject turns away from the mic.

A water-resistant mesh screen protects against humidity, perspiration, makeup, bad weather, and other potential on-location issues, while the durable cable is also moisture-resistant and built to stay soft and pliable, even after extended use. This version of the COS-11D terminates in a 3-pin LEMO connector and is wired for use with Zaxcom transmitters. Accessories are available separately and are not included with this configuration of the microphone.

Q: 1. If I'll buy 2 receivers and 2 transmitters, what else I would need to connect it to my DSLR camera? I need to connect 2 people at the same time and I'm intending to use it together with 2 of sanken cos-11d ( i have a NIKON D800 and a Nikon D850)

A: Hi Vasile - to use two receivers on your DSLR, you'll need to split the signals so that they are routed independently to the Left & Right channels of the stereo input on your camera. This can be done using a Stereo Y-cable (e.g. Hosa Technology Stereo 3.5mm Male TRS to Two 3.5mm Female TS Y-Cable (6")). Once captured, you'll need to split the signals in post from a stereo feed into to mono channels (Channel 1 = Left, Channel 2 = Right). Alternately, it may be worthwhile to look into a portable audio recorder as the preamp will be quite an improvement over the mic input on the camera - you can send your signal from the EW Receivers into a camera mounted recorder and use a stereo output to the camera while having much more control over your audio and monitoring with much better quality.

Q: 2. Will this work with the rode ntg2 and the canon c100 markII?

A: Yes, the Sanken rubber O-rings will work with the Canon C100 MKII to secure the Rode NTG2.

Q: 3. Is there a wireless handheld mic that works with this rx?

A: No, there is no compatible wireless handheld transmitter/microphone available for use with the Polsen UWM-2 2-Person Camera-Mount Wireless Omni Lavalier Microphone System.

Q: 4. Is this compatible with a Panasonic AGUX90?

A: Yes, the Sennheiser EW 112P G4 Camera-Mount Wireless Omni Lavalier Microphone System is compatible for use with the Panasonic AG-UX90 UHD 4K Professional Camcorder.

Q: 5. Hi, I just ordered this mic a couple weeks ago. So far it has not shown to turn on or record any audio, nor did I receive an instruction manual with it. I have plugged it into my canon 5d mark III and also a Zoom H5 recorder, and both have giving me no sound from the mic and some plug in noise. No levels are shown to record. I have not been able to find any troubleshooting pieces on line. Can you help me?

A: This microphone requires power you need to send it 48V

Q: 6. Will the o rings fit with the Rode NTG2 on Sony's PXW-X70?

A: Thank you for you inquiry. The O-Ring is normally used with the CS1E which is 19mm and the Rode NTG2 is 22mm. I would say that should not be too much of a stretch and will work fine. Please let us know if you have any other questions or concerns.Best,Peter Hanniganplus24/Sanken323-845-1171

Q: 7. Do these fit the Sennheiser MKH 416?

A: Yes, these will work with the 416. Please let us know if you have any futher questions.Best,Peter Hannigan323-845-1171Sanken/plus24

Q: 8. Does this has extreme wether proof design and RF rejection like NTG3 and Senn MKH416?

A: The Sanken is fairly robust in adverse weather, but it is not weather-proofed. Its directionality is comparable depending on the environment.

Q: 9. Does the receiver have a stereo output? Will I be able to separate the tracks or are they stuck together as one mono file?

A: Yes, the dual-channel receiver in the Polsen UWM-2 2-Person Camera-Mount Wireless Omni Lavalier Microphone System for Cameras and Smartphones (538 to 586 MHz) implements a stereo 3.5mm output and each transmitter signal can be separated out of the receiver via the provided cable options.

Q: 10. What are the reasons for choosing one of the frequency ranges (470-558 or 558-608) over the other?

A: It also depends where you will be using the device. You can use sites like https://en-us.sennheiser.com/sifa to find which frequency bands in your target area are free or busy. This will narrow it down. If you travel abroad, certain frequencies may be banned or license only. Worth doing a little research into what you need where you are going.

[Omnidirectional] I devoted a lot of time to researching lavalier microphones before I settled on the Sanken COS-11D. I looked and listened to all of the on-line comparisons I could find and read the technical data. I wanted top sound quality for spoken voices and different options to conceal the microphone. B&H had the XLR connector model in stock and it fulfills all of my wishes. Additionally I have a Sony ECM-55B lavalier, a great mic with a long reputation (and also a great deal from the B&H Used store) but it is relatively large in size. Ive tested the Sony vs the Sanken in different environments and bottom line, the Sanken is the clear winner for overall sound quality. it is that much cleaner and crisper with a lively presence and brightness, even when tucked behind a collar. I will buy another one of these if/when I need another lavalier.
