Built with the same materials and to the same precise specifications as the larger models, Leica 10x32 Ultravid HD-Plus Binoculars | High-Performance Opticsdeliver bright and clear high-contrast images across the entire field of view with true color rendition and virtually zero distortion. The smaller objectives reduce the overall size and weight for better portability and less muscle strain during long-duration viewing sessions, while still delivering competent low-light performance. Helping to compensate for the distracting hand shake common with using 10x and greater optics, is a wide 67° apparent viewing angle. This allows the use of high-magnification binoculars without the need for stabilization equipment such as harnesses.

Leica employs specially formulated SCHOTT HT glass, which increases light transmission especially in the blue-violet light band, improves color fidelity, and enhances low-light performance. Scratch- and abrasion-resistant High Durable Coating (HDC) and hydrophobic AquaDura coating on the outer lenses protect surfaces and cause water and oil to bead off for easier cleaning and clearer vision. The roof prisms feature P40 phase correction and proprietary High Lux System (HLS) coatings. These coatings virtually eliminate chromatic aberration for enhanced color rendition and increased contrast.

Complementing the optical performance are uncompromising construction details. To reduce user fatigue during long glassing sessions, the chassis is made of a lightweight yet durable magnesium alloy, with a high-tensile titanium center hinge axle. The optical tubes are nitrogen filled for fogproof performance and sealed to make the binoculars submersible to 16 feet. Ergonomic thumb indents on the bottom of the binoculars, coupled with protective rubber armoring, provide a comfortable slip-resistant grip. A lubrication-free focus system provides fast and precise focusing, with PETP-Discs to provide smooth movement throughout the broad operating temperature range.

Related Questions and Answers

Q: 1. What solar filters would you recommend for these binoculars? Tanhs.

A: DayStar Filters 50mm White-Light Universal Lens Solar Filter (2-Pack, 50-69mm OD) BH #DAULF502 • MFR #ULF50-2

Q: 2. Would you explain the difference between the Leica 8X42 ultravid and the 8X42 noctivid? Are either armored?

A: The Ultravid HD-Plus is indeed based on an older mechanical and optical design that has been around for a long time. Its a true and tested performer. The Noctivid is Leica's newest optical and mechanical designs which many individuals at Leica Camera, Inc, worked on for over 6 years before introducing. It shows numerous easily noticeable improvements in performance over not only our existing Ultravid designs, but arguably has been referred to as the new performance benchmark for all. The Ultravid line is complete with 8 different models of full sized binoculars in 32 mm, 42 mm, and 50 mm objective lens models, while the Noctivid is only available in 8x42 and 10x42 models. Comparing apples to apples between the Leica 8x42 Ultravid HD-Plus, and the Leica 8x42 Noctivid binoculars, one immediately appreciates the Noctivids closer focus (almost 5 feet closer than the Ultravid product, down to near 6 feet) as well as the Noctivid's very obvious wider field-of-view (443 feet versus 389 feet at 1,000 yards). Especially when comparing in challenging lighting, the Noctivids superior light delivery is easily demonstrable and since delivered at very high transmission across the entire visible spectrum, the Noctivids high dynamic range lends itself to a seemingly unparalleled depth of focus front to back that offers amazing eye comfort. This feature also lends itself to a very quick focus system. With so much of the field from 50 feet to infinity in focus or near focus so at once, most users find they barely have to refocus and adjustments being made are mere degrees on the focus wheel. This means you are spending more time appreciating your subject in focus and less time trying to get the subject in focus.

Q: 3. How are the Leica 10x32 Ultravivids for people who wear glasses like me?

A: works great with glasses

Q: 4. Are these binoculars made in Germany or Portugal?

A: These are not the same quality of the German made Trinovid in the old times. The Portugal copy of this renovated product line is performing at best as a $250-$500 bino from other manufacturers. If you are from a $100 bino this will for sure amaze you, but definitely not for someone own quite a few Leica optics. Just be aware...

Q: 5. What is the warranty for a USA purchaser?

A: These binoculars carry a 3-Year Leica No-Fault Passport Warranty and Limited Lifetime Warranty.

Q: 6. I am looking for a high end -high quality Bino. I am down to this model Leica 10 x 42 and the Swarovski 10 X 42 swaroVision. Can anyone help with comparison info, especially if you have used these glasses? I will use these mostly for wildlife viewing and helping me find good images for wildlife photography. Thanks for your analysis. J.L.

A: Personally I would go with the Swarovski EL 10x42 SwaroVision Binoculars. I have compared both models side by side in a low light setting, and the Swaro's are superior. There is a slight brightness difference. Also there is more glass in both barrels of the Swarovski's. Build quality wise it's a better binocular too.

Q: 7. How far out do the bullet drop system work? On the new model 10x42 the inclinometer system only works out to 600 yards.

A: The Ultravid model does not have a built-in rangefinder. Only the Geovid model has that. A Geovid HD-R can do calculations for a range of 10-600 yards and provide an adjusted horizontal distance measurement (what we call EHr). Thats usually a good range for bow hunters. The Geovid HD-B can do calculations for a range of 100-875 yards (or out to 1000 yds. by using the included micro SD card to load a custom calculation through our website), and can provide the above mentioned EHr value, or a Hold value, or the number of click adjustments to make on a riflescope. This model is better for the rifle hunter.

Q: 8. Does the cordura nylon carrying case have a shoulder strap?

A: Yes it dose

Q: 9. Does the "Open Box" model with all the accessories as the brand new model, including the same warranty?

A: The Open Box Model does not qualify for the Brand New Warranty.

Q: 10. Were are these MFG?

A: My Leica 10x42 Ultravid HD's are made in Germany. Says so on the unit. Some Leica optics are made in Portugal. Not all.

[10x] Binos are so bright today most people won't need anything larger than 32mm anymore, even at 10x, and this is an ideal choice. Wide field, sharp nearly to the edges, high resolution, vivid contrast and color, smooth quick focus, light weight. It's actually hard to imagine any way they could be better! (Unless you need more eye relief for use with strong prescription glasses... I have the opposite problem, many other binos now have such high eye relief that I'd have to hold them away from my face.)

[13.2 mm] After much research and trying Swarovski; Zeiss; Vortex; and Nikon, these were hands down the best binoculars for me. They are light, well built, and really bright. The clarity and color rendition is truly amazing! The ability to see birds in thick foliage and pick out fine details in the feathers is also nothing short of amazing. My wife and I were looking for binoculars to travel with, and I felt these best met my criteria for ruggedness, light weight, and optical clarity. We like to hike and climb (Yellowstone, Glacier, Yosemite, etc.). I looked at both the 8X and !0X versions of the brands previously noted, and settled on the 8X. The 8X were easier to hold steady. The other brands mentioned were also incredible and buyers really will not go wrong with any of them. However, for myself the Swarovski binoculars were too heavy, the Zeiss too big, the Vortex and Nikon were nice but didn't feel as well balanced as the Leica Ultravid HD Plus. It is great to have so many high quality choices! Also the eye relief on the Leica binoculars was perfect, especially for those who wear glasses. They are rather expensive, but worth it to me.

[3.2 mm] I bought these to accompany me when using my spotting scope, or when using a camera with a telephoto lens. They are sharp, clear and so light and compact. They let in an amazing amount of light for 32's. They could easily be my primary binoculars. A must for hikers where weight or size is an issue.

[Center] These binoculars are terrific. I can easily use them with my glasses on, which is very important to me. They are light weight and objects are clear even at long distances.

[-4 to +4] Great glass - bright, clear. The 10x42 is not at all shaky. So glad I got the 10 instead the 8.

[Roof] Just upgraded from my previous birding binoculars. These are awesome. Had some low profile ones but now I had the chance to buy this pair and I love them. They are light and compact, with awesome close focus to watch birds at close range. Ready for more birding adventures during and after covid2019!!!
