This 57" Elinchrom Indirect Litemotiv Square Softbox 57x57from Elinchrom Indirect Litemotiv Square Softbox 57x57is a favorite of portrait and product photographers. The large surface area offers excellent coverage of full length subjects as well as flattering wrap-around performance when used up close. The shape is almost custom-made for head and shoulders portraiture and small groups.

Called Indirect because of how its rear-firing design softens the light output, the Litemotiv Square boasts an edge to edge brightness without hotspots, yet can take the heat when it has to. The black-backed silver reflective material is rated for lamps up to 650W, and the unique folding system allows you to quickly break it down for transport or storage. Each Leitmotiv comes with both a front and interior diffuser, as well as a quality made carrying case.

The Litemotiv Square can be used with Elinchrom or Profoto flash heads with separate purchase of an adapter.

The unique folding system allows a speedy setup of the Indirect Litemotiv in any location and with each softbox.

The central mounting for the flash head places the flashtube at the point of focus inside the softbox for the best possible results. The light is so even that many photographers use it as a single source.

The reflective fabric of the Litemotiv softboxes offers more light output compared to previous fabrics while providing the same distinctive Elinchrom look. Built to last and heat-resistant up to 650W, it is a good choice for rental studios.

The integral reflector of an Elinchrom flash unit is designed to maximize the efficiency and evenness of light. The flashtube is precisely positioned 20mm from the surface to avoid the inherent unevenness of non-concentric flashtubes. The bayonet mount is compatible with all Elinchrom flash units since 1974.

Small rings were added to the sides of the softbox so that photographers can securely attach them to the ground or any element around them.

The setting up / breaking down process is so simple that, even though this is a large softbox, it can be quickly folded down into one carrying bag for convenient storage and transport.

Related Questions and Answers

Q: 1. What stand do you recommend for a softbox this large?

A: Hi,It really is location dependent but typically it is recommended to use a stand with wider foot print. Since this is a large light shaper you want to make sure you also sand bag the stand for additional safety.Kupo Junior Roller Stand (8.8')B&H # KUKS300712 MFR # KS300712 would be a good stand to use for this shaper.Regards,Will HBrand Manager Lighting, MAC Group US

Q: 2. How do I attach to a Broncolor Siros?

A: find under the Litemotiv accessories a speed ring for Broncolor Siros

Q: 3. Greetings, I was curious what specific ring I would need to mount Broncolor heads to this particular modifier? Many thanks.

A: You need a Parabolix Universal Adapter.

Q: 4. The mounting mechanism for my Elinchrom Indirect Litemotiv Octa Softbox (75 ) has stripped, both at the plastic handle for angling and the plastic knob used to tighten onto a light stand - what are my repair/replacement options?

A: The stand mount on these are terrible (sorry MAC Group but they are). The absolute best solution is to replace it with a hollywood grip head. it's an easy replacement (takes 2min) and will make sense if you have a grip head to look at. I'll write a product review and post a pic of the install there as everyone who owns one of these should do it.

Q: 5. can is use this with the broncolor siros 800?

A: From the manufacturer; Sorry we only have a mount for Elinchrom and Profoto.

Q: 6. what would the quality of the lighting and photos be if I used this Indir. 75" Litemot. in studio basement with 93" of height?

A: The light quality produced by the Elinchrom 75" Indirect Litemotiv Octa Softbox would be excellent. However, the results may vary depending on the light being used and the distance at which the modifier is placed towards the subject.

Q: 7. Can you use a Profoto B1 with this Octa?

A: According to Elinchrom, you'll need this adapter: https://bhpho.to/3dkxuo5

Q: 8. Can I use the Indirect Litemotiv 75 with a Bowens type flash head?

A: No

Q: 9. Does his have front diffuser ?

A: While Elinchrom does offer a diffuser for the Indirect Litemotiv Octa, we are not carrying it at this time. However, as new items become part of our inventory, we can notify you via our e-mail newsletter. If you have not done so already, you may register your e-mail address at the bottom of our homepage.

Q: 10. What is the best light stand option if I want this 190cm Octabox to be useable as overhead light ? It’s both big and heavy

A: The Manfrotto 025BS Super Boom with 008BU Stand - Black B&H # MA025BS would be a solid option to place this Elinchrom modifier overhead. https://bhpho.to/2VZw1K1

[Yes] Such a great lighting tool, really love the quality of the light and use it for all my fashion ecomm work. Provides a crisp and even light with soft fall off. It's huge at 75 so not for everyone or every situation. With it's size it does need a lot of power, I'm looking to start using a Profoto twin tube with this as it'll give me the power I need and help cut my recycle times (I usually shoot at f/18-22). The only down side, but easily resolved, is the horribly designed stand mount. A lighting tool of this size requires a much more stout mount. The one included is toy like with all it's plastic parts and will not last. I strongly urge everyone to replace it with a hollywood grip head immediately! I've attached images of the upgrade, take 2 min to swap them out. I recently replaced a broken rod, Elinchrom/MAC Group was super helpful and sent the rod for a DIY fix. I could have sent it in for repair but opted for the DIY at a fraction of the cost ($22 w/shipping). The replacement took about 20-30min and was easy just requiring a phillips head screw driver and steady hand (several small pieces inside).

[Silver] Wow, what amazing light this softbox produces! The indirect nature of the light is something I've never experienced before.

I was expecting the grip head attached to this softbox to be cheap and made of plastic, like I've heard, but to my surprise, Elinchrom has listened to the consumers and upgraded the grip head to an all-metal, beefy unit, which looks to be the grip head made by Impact.

Out of a dozen softboxes I have, this is overall my favorite softbox that I have ever owned, and I also have a Chimera OctaPlus 57, which is a 5' octabox that converts to 7' with a kit that adds length to the rods and an extension of fabric. That unit takes 10 minutes to setup and is not indirect like the Elinchrom. This thing opens up like an umbrella and is ready to go. This is perfect for me as I shoot on location so am constantly setting and breaking down lights.

[Yes] I recently purchased one of these and the light coming from this modifier is absolutely on another level. I highly recommend this Elinchrom product. The build quality is great. My only con is the price. A++++

[13.65 lb] This modifier is an industry standard in Advertising, Commercial, Fashion, and Editorial Photography. A nice soft source as a key or fill. It is especially beautiful when feathered away from subject. It is quick to set up and tear down. My last octa lasted 15 years before replacement.

[650 W] I intend to use a Profoto D2 1000W studio flash with the Elinchrom Indirect Litemotiv Octa Softbox (75) and was very concerned about the poor quality tilthead design of mostly plastic parts. I read David's review from 24 December 2016, which included a photo of his fix for the poor tilthead (he replaced it with a Hollywood Grip Head). Based on David's fix, I decided to order the Elinchrom Indirect Litemotiv Octa Softbox (75) with the intent to replace the tilthead with a Hollywood Grip Head. To my surprise, the Elinchrom Indirect Litemotiv Octa Softbox (75) arrived with a Hollywood Grip Head already installed! It's great when a company listens to their customers. I haven't used the Elinchrom Indirect Litemotiv Octa Softbox (75) yet, but I hope it lives-up to it's excellent reviews.

[Silver] Light is number one ingredient to get a great photo
It produces one of kind light, not similar to any other modifiers
If you have space for it , it's absolutely must and worth investment.

[650 W] One of my favorite modifiers. I own 2 for the times I'm working in 2 different cities. Use this on almost every job involving humans. Incredible soft and even light, like a huge window. It's beautiful. Not as big as people complain about - I use it on a normal 13 foot light stand with a weight on the bottom. Sets up easy, folds down small. They need to create an adapter for Broncolor though.... Great, great modifier, and reasonably priced.

And to those that are complaining about the plastic handle, my oldest one is almost 20 years old now, and it works as well as the day I bought it.

[Silver] I was hesitant about this light box, but its performance has convinced me otherwise. Before, I would use 2x 4ft normal octaboxes or large umbrellas to get a similar look and also another large box for fill to get the same results. With the Indirect Octa, I can get the same look with only 1 modifier, this light is so even edge to edge that it acts as the key and the fill for some strange reason, the way the light rakes across the subject is so natural and the transition from highlight to shadow is incredible. It is even without looking boring or flat. It almost gives off a look of a beauty dish with a large fill in behind, depending on how you use it. The fabric inside is much nicer than the standard Elinchrom Rotalux and the output is just...dang, different, is the only way that I can put it. I've used it on location, in the studio and it just throws a really beautiful even, and most importantly, not boring across into any situation. With the diffuser on, it looks like a punchy north facing window. With the diffuser off, it looks like even sunlight, almost like a gigantic parabolic. I've used it with Profoto B1s, B10s, D1's with and without the dome diffuser and have gotten great results. It is my go to for simple and effective fashion images that model agencies want. Get this modifier, it will pay for itself in a couple shoots!

It is not as big as you would think. It's big for sure, diameter wise, but not that deep and fits into large and small spaces very well. The best thing is that it can be very close to your subject and not throw hotspots so even in a small studio, this can be used. With a large studio and with enough distance from the background, you can get that classic head to even light with dark background that you see in many fashion magazines. At most you would need a fill board to make it perfect.

[Silver] This is the softest light you will every use in your studio. It is huge and needs a heavy duty tripod and boom. I use the Manfrotto Minivator II with wheels (sold separately) and 025BSL SUPER BOOM to support this monster.
