A: Arca Swiss is not an international standard so we cannot guarantee performance of this combination. However can offer some observations. Most likely you will be fine since the 3 Legged Thing has a screw clamp: it is the lever clamp that sometimes in the past has caused problems. In the end the answer will be you testing the set-up. If it is good and solid and you like it; you are good to go. If not, do not use it.

Q: 4. Will the Peak Design 'Slide' strap fit this L-Bracket using it in the sling position i.e. slung across the shoulder with the camera resting on you right or left side?

A: Yes it will fit perfectly fine

There are two models of L-bracket plates, one for the battery grip and one without it... will the model *for* the grip fit on a D850 that does *not* have the grip (and not be too weird looking / oversized?) I'm trying to only buy one bracket .. i dont have the D850 grip yet (might be a while).

A: The bracket made for use with the camera and grip might fit, but it may not fit properly because it has been designed and machined for the grip only. The openings and connections will all be off and may get in the way of using your camera if it is not used properly, with or without the grip.

Q: 6. I see a number of books listed as accessories for this plate but I don't see the L-component listed. Does that mean you don't sell it?

A: Unfortunately we currently do not sell the L-component alone. However, we do carry B&H# REBMBD17LLPL which are both components together as a full L plate set.

A: The plate is a welded to a steel pin. The load limit will more be a matter of how you mount it and what you mount it too.

A: You get just the L-bracket.

A: It comes with the L-bracket, in a small bag with a Ziploc closure along with the other screws, if I recall correctly. It is small (tiny is an accurate description).

A: You would need a step down ring such as this: https://bhpho.to/2PCnU4x But when using a step down ring, you risk vignetting the image. Plus the quality of the Bower VL152 52mm Right Angle Mirror Lens Attachment is not nearly as good as the quality of your Canon lens. If at all possible, I would recommend not using a right angle attachment due to the low quality.
