The black anodized aluminum CB Digital-SB Flash Bracket from Custom Brackets is a simple L-shaped bracket that attaches to your camera's 1/4"-20 tripod mount via a D-ring screw. The vertical arm has a cold shoe to attach a flash or accessory like a microphone or LED light. The cold shoe can be removed, revealing a 1/4"-20 threaded screw so that you can attach a TTL cable or other accessory. Two mounting holes on the base plate enable attachment of the optional Custom Brackets AT anti-twist bar. The bracket can be attached to a tripod or other support by means of a 1/4"-20 threaded hole on its base. A foam grip provides added comfort on the vertical arm.

Related Questions and Answers

Q: 1. Can this be placed on the right side of the camera? With still enough space for holding camera?

A: No

Q: 2. Can I use this with my Sony a7II with attached Nissin i60 external flash and Rode videomic on the cold shoot?

A: As the Rode Microphone will attach to the camera through the 3.5mm jack, if the Rode sits on the bracket, it will work just fine. It would help to put the handle of the bracket on the same side of the jack on the camera. 1. since the cable isn't so long and puller across the front of back of the camera and 2. so you don't block the handle part of the camera where all the control takes place. The Nissin must be attached to the hot shoe to work.

Q: 3. Can the little knobs on the baseplate be removed to accommodate a larger (med. format) camera?

A: Yes, they are attached with little screws and can be removed.

Q: 4. Will this work for a Sony HDR-CX240 video camera and insted of flash can I attach a microphone on it?

A: Yes the Sony HDR-CX240 can be attached to the Custom Brackets CB Digital-T Rotating Flash Bracket. As long as your microphone has a cold shoe mount, it will fit in the cold shoe of the bracket.

Q: 5. What is the difference between the tall and small?

A: The tall bracket has a longer arm to support the larger body.

Q: 6. I shoot with the Sony a7III + 24-70m GM, do I need to a battery grip to use this flash bracket?

A: You can mount your camera without a grip on this bracket. It is a product geared to event photographers and they prefer using a grip for the vertical controls and long battery life. But it is not a requirement to have a grip.

Q: 7. Is there a way to mount this on a gimbal head?

A: Technically yes because it has a 1/4-20 female mount just like a camera or lens has. However, this Wimberley flash bracket was designed specifically for use on a gimbal head: https://bhpho.to/3ilu7Bw

Q: 8. Is it possible to mount the SMDV Diffuser Speedbox-S40 - Professional 17-inch (40cm) Rigid Hexagonal Softbox for Speedlite with their new SB-05 speedlight mounting bracket?

A: You would block the lens if you mounted a softbox that large to it.

Q: 9. Suitable for Canon 1DX with 600EX flash?

A: Yes.

Q: 10. I am new to flash photography. I have a Nikon D500 with a battery grip. Do I need to purchase any additional accessories, besides the Nikon SC-29 flash cable, to get this bracket operational? Thanks in advance for any information.

A: Hi--you don't need anything else to make this work.

["L" Type] A balance and necessary tool for hand- held photography. With flash attached on top of bracket, light is balance and help to control shadows behind subject.
An excellent, well made product. Very comfortable to hold & carry. Highly recommended.

[Aluminum, Foam] I just received this bracket today. The build quality and design is excellent. It fits great on the 5D3 with a grip. This bracket designed to work on the grip side on the camera unlike many others that are position on the left side. This allows you to rotate the camera counter-clockwise for portrait orientation as is normal versus clockwise as required by other brackets. I purchased it with a 1.5' Vello ttl flash cord and an RPS Studio locking shoe, model rs-3119. The whole setup works nicely together. The rotating arm joint is stiff and, although not locking, has a spring loaded knuckle at both 90? positions that should keep the flash in place well under normal use. I definitely recommend this bracket for any who needs an affordable bracket for there dslr with a grip attached.

[0.5 lb] Not everyone needs a flash bracket, but if you do, this one is much nicer than the similarly-priced generic flip brackets sold under various brand names. Despite being almost featherweight, it holds my Nikon D7500 and Speedlight firmly in a well-balanced, easy to handle package. This non-folding model is an incredible value.

[Aluminum, Foam] Solid and well built for the price.... seriously.  Smooth locking movement of the flash arm, easy to adjust.

["L" Type] The CB Digital-S is a well designed and machined aluminum bracket with a strong, but easy to operate spring-loaded rotating arm allowing rapid switching from landscape to portrait orientation. The anti-rotate stop pins on the base-plate have a limited adjustment range so may not function properly on some smaller cameras, but if it fits your camera body, it will do the job. I use it to hold Lume Cube for front-fill lighting and have replaced the flash cold-shoe with a small 1/4-20 ball joint to allow quick positioning of the lamp. Works perfectly for thid application. I've use it with large DSLRs and lately with the Mirrorless EOS R and EOS RP which is as small a camera as will work with the anti-rotate pins

[Aluminum, Foam] This low cost bracket is a must have. Very goog fabrication. It is a very affordable solution (ten times lower priced) to challenge the Promediagear Boomrang bracket for mounting my Profoto B2 head. Amazing.

["L" Type] This is an inexpensive device that gets the job done and done well. It does add weight to my camera but it's a good trade off.

[0.5 lb] I bought this to photograph my girlfriend's granddaughter's wedding. Probably the only time I will use it, so I has hesitant to buy a high dollar unit. I was pleasantly surprised by the quality packed into this inexpensive backet. The screws to mount the flash to the camera are captured to the bracket so nothing gets lost. There are adjustments on both the top and bottom to allow for different makes of flash and camera, and make sure they remain securely fastened. This bracket was exactly what I wanted at the right price point

[Aluminum, Foam] I had many years ago a flash bracket built for my Sunpak 622 and it was similar to the one I am reviewing here. With the flash high above the lens, shadows are frantically reduced. When you change from portrait to landscape shots, the flash bracket rotates so the flash is always center over the lens and high above the lens.

The bracket’s weight is light considering the weight of my Nikon D780 , Sigma 24-105 lens and the Nikon SB5000 flash. When you add up all of this weight, this bracket adds very little and makes carrying the rig quite comfortable.

I highly recommend this bracket for its usability, weight and price!!

["L" Type] Taller than most, with plasticized no-rotate adjustable pins for the camera and adjustable plates to keep the flash facing forward as well.  The extra height helps drop shadows behind a subject, if youre not too close to a wall. A firm spring in the handle keeps the upper arm from flopping around in either the vertical or horizontal position.  It does not have a cork or rubber base for the camera, so a camera could slide around if the no-rotate pins are removed or arent adjusted properly.  I simply cut out and glued a cork gasket to the camera platform.
I use it with Olympus micro four thirds cameras.
Four stars for not having a rubberized camera platform, back to five stars for the value and easy fix.
