Related Questions and Answers

Q: 1. Regarding Phottix Varos Pro BG Flash Bracket: Can the flash be mounted horizontally through the hole on the sides rather than top mount? If yes, is it possible with provided adaptors, or do I need something additional?

A: Yes. No additional accessories needed.

Q: 2. Will this accept Sony flashes? I bought a universal flash bracket and my sony flash shoe (Godox tt685s) doesn't fit nicely in the flash bracket.

A: I think it would fit but not 100% certain because I have never seen a TT685s up close...I found some images of TT685s foot on google...its a little hard to tell just by looking at a picture. The only thing i can say is that generally speaking this holder will hold onto pretty much any flash ...because it has a clamp at the top...with a screw on the side. Regardless of flash brand it should hold on to the foot of the flash.

Q: 3. Can you mount an LED 1 x 1 panel on this?

A: By taking off the shoe mount or adjusting the arrangement of included adapters it can work with a variety of LED lights.

Q: 4. Can this hold a large umbrella. e.g. 60 or bigger?

A: Yes this bracket can be used to hold an umbrella 60 or larger.

Q: 5. i saw pictures online that the flash is mounted flat on the mount. Can the flash be mounted on the side? in order words the narrow part of the flash against the flat surface of the mount.

A: Yes. You can rotate the flash around in the holder. This will allow using the flash head pivot to point the light UP, Down, or left or right sides.

Q: 6. It says it supports 62lbs is this missing a decimal point? Serious question - it would be great if this did in fact support heavy lights.

A: These are very heavy duty and can easily support the weight as long as the stand can. I have used them with studio monolights, LED panels, as well as the more typical use of speedlights.

Q: 7. Can you remove the hotshoe?

A: Yes. Note the thumb screw at the top-side of the holder.

Q: 8. How do you remove the metal insert at the bottom?

A: Loosen the knob and push the metal button. It should fall out.

Q: 9. is this compatible with Yongnuo speedlight?

A: Yes it is compatible with all the flashes since it is cold shoe, and a very nice build.

Q: 10. it is compatible with Nikon flashes?

A: Absolutely. The cold shoe at the top of the bracket clamps against the Nikon flash foot making a very secure hold. The umbrella clamp has a curved plate that presses against the shaft also for good hold without denting the umbrella shaft like some other brackets do. Great design. I have two of them.

[0.795 lb] Great holder, I use it with my manfrotto stand. No worries about the flash dropping!

[62 lb (28 kg)] I bought one of these about 2 years ago not realizing just how versatile it really is.

I've since used to for off-camera flash and speedlites, umbrella mount, and even for a 2nd camera mount.

It's a very heavy duty item that will likely outlast anything else I own.

I highly recommend it.

[0.795 lb] I really like how you can move the angle of the top swivel down in precise increments.

[0.795 lb] Very sturdy, can definitely hold a lot of weight. The locking mechanism very smooth and I wish was used on more products like this.

My one complaint is the quality of the screws, their handles are pretty cheap plastic and feel like they'll break if I twist too hard; They haven't broken though and would be easy enough to replace, so in my opinion doesn't detract from the functionality of the product.

It would be better if it had longer, metal screw handles, for both the tilt mechanism and tightening the spigots/umbrellas (like the Impact CA-108). I think it would be worth it even if they had to increase the price.

[62 lb (28 kg)] A very well made bracket, that is worth the extra money. I really love the safety mechanism that prevents it from coming off the stand even if, the screw comes loose.

[0.795 lb] The M size holds the Manfrotto Trifold Umbrella (35.4) with a 10mm shaft perfectly (I assume the BG does as well). No more using bongo ties to attach that umbrella to Godox S mount brackets!

This is a hefty mount and not the best choice if you're building an ultralight travel kit, but it is compact and sturdy. It could probably be used for self defense if needed, and feels solid and reliable. The plastic ring that tightens the cold shoe mount down is a likely weak point in this otherwise solid design. The ratcheting angle adjustment is also a drawback as others have mentioned, but not necessarily a deal breaker.
