Capture broadcast-quality sound indoors or outside for your next indie film, TV shoot, or documentary project with the satin nickel RODE NTG3 Shotgun Mic with Auray Windshield Kitmoisture-resistant shotgun microphone. Professional-level features such as low-noise circuitry, upgraded immunity to radio-frequency interference, and minimal handling noise reduce the need to repair and restore audio in postproduction.

The NTG3's high sensitivity allows it to produce strong output levels without having to apply extreme gain at your mic preamp. Sonically, the NTG3 delivers consistently clear sound due in part to its gentle rise in high frequencies and its rumble-reducing attenuation of low bass frequencies. Its switch- and dial-free design lets you set up quickly and focus on the sound instead of fiddling with various mic settings. The solid brass housing is both durable and lightweight, and its anti-glare finish prevents reflections in the shot.

When your work takes you outdoors, you're bound to encounter humidity and condensation, which can cause many mics to fail. The NTG3's RF bias technology makes it almost completely resistant to moisture, allowing you to reliably capture high-quality audio in normal and adverse environmental conditions. It also includes a weatherproof aluminum storage cylinder for maximum protection during travel.

The NTG3 was engineered for broadcast-quality sound, enhanced immunity to RF (radio frequency) interference, and low handling noise. Plus, its balanced output allows longer cable runs than most camera-mount shotgun microphones.

The combination of the NTG3's 10" long body and supercardioid polar pattern yields focused on-axis directionality with maximum rejection behind the mic. Its low self-noise of 13 dBA and highly sensitive condenser element communicate detailed audio unburdened by the hiss that plagues many low-cost microphones.

Thanks to its 3-pin XLR output and compliance with 44 to 52 VDC phantom power, the NTG3 is compatible with a variety of handheld audio recorders, field recorders, and mixer adapters, as well as built-in preamps on many camcorders and cinema cameras.

The NTG3 includes a mic clip for easy placement on a mic stand or boompole. Alternatively, mount the NTG3 in the Rode SMR-4 shockmount (available separately) to impede the transfer of vibrations between your boompole and the mic.

The NTG3 has a foam windscreen to reduce unwanted wind noise from breezes, fans, heaters, and air conditioners. For maximum reduction of handling noise and wind noise in indoor or outdoor environments, consider the Rode Blimp furry windshield and shockmount suspension system (available separately).

Q: 3. Does it fit the Zoom M3 MicTrak Stereo Shotgun Microphone and Recorder?

A: The Auray Professional Windshield for Shotgun Microphones (5.5") will fit the Zoom M4 MicTrak, although there will be a half inch of extra space from the tip of the microphone to the tip of the windscreen.

Q: 4. Does it work with Rode ntg2?

A: For proper fitment to the Rode NTG-2 we recommend the WSS-2014

Q: 5. How can I connect the Rode VideoMic Pro to my iPhone 8? Do I need another cable than the Lightning to 3.5 mm Headphone Jack Adapter?

A: The Rode SC4 3.5mm TRS to TRRS Adaptor, (B&H # ROSC4) would be required as well as the Lightning to 3.5mm adapter to connect the Rode VideoMic Pro to an iPhone 8.

Q: 6. Does the Auray Professional Windshield for Shotgun Microphones (7") fit a sennheiser MKE 300 mic ?

A: The Auray Professional Windshield for Shotgun Microphones (7"), BH # AUWSS2018, is not compatible with the Sennheiser MKE300 microphone.

Q: 7. Can the ntg3b plug directly into a Sony a7s2? Or is the ntg4+ the only one with a built in phantom?

A: The NTG-3 requires an external phantom power source and is not directly compatible with the a7s2. The Rode NTG-4+ features a built in rechargeable battery that will allow for direct connection to the camera as well as the Rode NTG-2 which is able to accept a AA battery for power.

Q: 8. Does it work with ntg4 + ?

A: Yes. See below dimensions ( the depth spec does work, as 7.1 " is more than enough to cover the mic element / side vents. Auray WSS-2018 Specs Compatible Mic Diameter 0.75 to 0.9" / 19 to 23 mm Inner Depth 7.1" / 18 cm Rode NTG 4+: Physical Color Black Mounting 3/8"-16 Female, 5/8"-27 Female, Mic Clip (with Included Hardware) Construction Material Metal Dimensions ø: 0.87 x L: 10.94" / ø: 22 x L: 278 mm Weight 6.21 oz / 176 g (Microphone)

Q: 9. It's compatible with ECM-XM1?

A: The Auray WSS-2012 Professional Windshield for Shotgun Microphones - 4.7" will fit on the Sony ECM-XM1 Shotgun Microphone, but since the WSS-2012 is 4.7" deep and the mic is only 6.5" long, the windshield may be a bit too long for the mic. As a better option, you can use the Rycote Standard Hole Classic Softie Wind-Screen - 3.9" Long, 0.7 to 0.8" Diameter Hole, Gray (B&H # RYS10M) or the RODE WS11 Windshield for VideoMic NTG Mic (B&H # ROWS11). The VideoMic NTG is about the same size as the ECM-XM1 so the windshield should provide a good fit.

Q: 10. Will this Mic work on a regular PC using Windows 7?

A: It is suggested to plug it into an audio interface first for the proper analog to digital conversion.

[Phantom Power] To get the best results, do the research and know what mics to use for each situation. This is a great mic. I use it when grabbing audio for my indoor interview style videos.

[1.645 lb] I got this mic to go with a Sony NX3 camera. The mic is fine and captures a very fine sound. However the mic barrel is too small to fit securely in the NX3 holder. Wrapping it helps.

[48 V] Bought this to use with a Sony HXR-NX3 camcorder. Have used it in videoing seminars and producing golf instructional videos both outdoors and in. It has worked very well. Had to buy several o-rings at the hardware store for a good fit in the Sony's microphone bracket but B&H had made me aware they would be required before the microphone was purchased.

[Mono] I bought this mic to use on my C100. A fantastic mic in build-quality and sound-quality. You cannot go wrong for the money. Also, I didn't want to have a longer mic that could extend into my wide-angle shots so I chose the NTG1 over the NTG2. Same mic, the only difference being the NTG2 takes batteries and is therefore longer.
