[0.455 lb] I do a great of contracting work that usually takes place in the middle of day when the sun is at its highest point. Under these conditions my iPad mini screen is almost impossible to read. Not anymore! The Hood kit attached to my iPad now allows me to clearly view every fine detail with ease. Both parts assemble easily to on another and to the drone controller. It's a must have if you do a great deal of drone piloting while the sun is directly overhead.

I use the kit with an iPad mini five and it blocks all of the sun and reflected light totally. B&H Photo is my place to go for any items related with flying a drone. Their return policy is terrific. I had to use it twice in the last couple of years because performance of the item that I bought was not up to my expectations. But the return was simple and at no cost to me. A different item was then ordered to fill my needs. I will always use B&H Photo because of those reasons.

[0.455 lb] I actually bought this for use with an Asus 8 tablet. Fits just fine and works well to control glare.

[0.455 lb] I have tri ed two different hoods be and both were terrible with every detail. I decided to give the Hoodman a try and I should have started with the one. The straps are the correct width and flexibility. The placement of the straps for attaching to my iPad mini doesn't interfere with flying the drone or plugging it in to the controller - perfect detail. I keep the extender handy when flying as I don't always need it but even when attached or folded back it doesn't add too much bulk or weight. If you fly a drone don't waste your time on another brand. While you're at it get the Hoodman landing pad as well. It's another great addition

[0.455 lb] Solid piece of kit! Nothing better out there for a clear view of your control panel. A few mods are needed to make it perfect but I highly recommend this item if you're flying in bright conditions.

[0.455 lb] I have tried everything from one-size-fits-nothing to making my own, and this shield is simply the best. I had some concerns that it might not fit my iPad Mini4 because of the Otterbox case, but this isn't any problem because this device rests on the inner top perimeter and straps around (two crosswise, one lengthwise) the base of the iPad. The straps are elastic to provide a tight fit, but are easily adjusted, and having done that once merely need to be unclipped to remove the hood.
At this time I don't feel the need to get the extension since I am primarily a line of sight flyer and just reference the screen to frame shots and check flight telemetry. That being said since I wear polarized glasses there might come a day when I will need total immersion and it's good to know the hood extension is available.
The only con to using this device is that it does somewhat block access to the main button, so I can't use the fingerprint ID to initialize the iPad. However, the finger slot cut in the bottom allows me complete freedom to touch the entire screen, so it's a tradeoff I'm willing to make to have a well designed, foldable shield that works as intended.
