A: I only use the large when the flash is mounted on a bracket.

Q: 4. I'm interested in purchasing the 8 Octa softbox to use with my Nikon SB-700 flash. Does the softbox have any sort of frame inside that keeps its shape or does it collapse into itself? Does it diminish the power level of the flash a lot?

A: This 8 octal soft box does not have any internal support and this causes it to sag a bit since the only thing supporting it is the velcro that closes the strap around the back collar where the soft box attaches to the flat. This could be fixed by adding some velcro to the softball and flash to provide some additional support. I have not tried to do this. You can expect to loose about 2 stops of light to the box, which is about normal since you are diffusing the light by bouncing it around the inside of the soft box. Having made these comments, this soft box does provide a very nice smooth (not harsh) light and creates a beautiful round catchlight in the subjects eyes.
