The MuxLab 500756 - 3G-SDI /RS232 over IP Extender with PoE allows easy extension and distribution of broadcast quality SDI, HD-SDI or 3G-SDI video with embedded audio over local area networks (LAN).
This low-latency and versatile extender kit consists of individual transmitter and receiver units which can be configured in a variety of combinations. It is a cost effective alternative to a dedicated SDI matrix switch. The 3G-SDI over IP extender allows users to send any SDI signals over CAT5/6 cable infrastructure instead of using the traditional SDI coax infrastructure, saving cable cost and making installation easy and fast. This extender kit is ideal for many quality critical video/audio applications such as original video source contribution, live video delivery around the broadcast facility or running media exchanges between different studios within the facility.

Related Questions and Answers

Q: 1. can this convert incoming H265 to H264 signal output?

A: The AVMATRIX SC2030 3G-SDI/HDMI Scaling Cross Converter can support an H.265 signal in and an H.264 signal out, though this would be a codec conversion that's dependent on the software being used. This converter would only do resolution and framerate conversion.

Q: 2. What material is the monitor and loop made with?

A: Here is the information from the Manufacturer on what this product is made out of: Main housing: plastic Viewfinder housing: plastic Display: liquid crystal display Viewfinder Lens: plastic, glass, & metal

A: Yes it does. You will be able to run a 250 foot HD-SDI cable with this system.

Q: 4. what is the lag in-between switches like ? considering using in an iMag environment

A: According to AJA, if a route exists in the KUMO and the incoming signal is connected to the KUMO input, the delay time between the incoming signal and the output signal is less than 5 ns.

Q: 5. Does this support SDI A or B?

A: It does not specify SDI A or B. If this is a concern we suggest looking at the Decimator MD-HX instead which does support both SDI A and B. https://bhpho.to/3sZzZTe

[4.4 in] This device works great when used with the Muxlab Extender. I came right out of the extender into a 10 port gigabit POE switch, and ran 5 monitors up to 200ft from the switch to each decoder. You do need a decoder for each monitor. Since the switch was POE I did not have to use the provided power supply for any decoder

[3 in] This is a ( very late ) update to last year's review.

In Jan 2022 , I used multiple ST12MHDLAN units to distribute (scoreboard and presentation ) video for a large gymnastics meet ( in a large convention center )

The ST12MHDLAN units worked perfectly at the event just like they did in my test "lab".

see previous review for more details

Note: I recommend using HDMI cables that have "slim" connector bodies. HDMI Cables with "fat" connector bodies will not seat perfectly ( and can be knocked loose easily ) due to the placement of a screw on the chassis of the ST12MHDLAN.

[Power, link OK] We operate a church broadcast system and needed to transmit the audio and video across a 1600' RF link. The radios show variable download bandwidth between 30 and 80 Mbps. We have experienced excellent reception with no video or audio drops or freezing.

[4.4 in] I couldn’t update my previous review so this supersedes it.
B&H refunded our purchase and we used the Audinate AVIO Dante adaptors, which worked great!

[17.64 oz] I will be using multiple ST12MHDLAN units to distribute video for a large gymnastics meet.
The ST12MHDLAN units will have 2 roles:

role 1. Distribute video based scoreboard streams from 3 scoring computers ( running ProScore v5 ) to 3 projector based "scoreboards" ( in this mode each TX-RX pair operates independently 1-to-1 )

role 2. At the start of each session , distribute a video based presentation to all 3 projectors.
(in this mode 1 TX unit streams ( multi-cast ) to 3 RX units 1-to-3 )

Switching between the 2 roles is done via a simple StarTech Chrome app. (a few mouse clicks)

Combined with NetGear S350 smart-switches ( which have VLAN and IGMP support), the ST12MHDLAN will allow me to
distribute both video data and score input data over a single LAN ( single set of cables). In previous years I had a scoring "data" LAN and a separate analog ( VGA extender based) video distribution setup. The new solution will greatly reduce the amount of cabling and the amount of work needed to tape down cabling.

I have performed extensive testing .... solution works great in my "test lab" ... and is ready for "production".
( The meet is in January ... I will try to remember to update this review after the meet )

[4.4 in] Just note that this are single channels per box. So you essentially used the SDI output as an additional out which is nice and saves us a DA.

Took a chance on an unknown player and happy to say they worked. These are the same guys that own lilliput (shared a booth at NAB at least)
