The gray Sanken COS-11D Omni Lavalier Microphone with TA4F Connectoris a subminiature lav microphone designed to deliver clear, full-bodied sound and reliable performance, making it a popular choice among industry professionals in broadcast, TV, theater, film, videography, and more.

Engineered to meet the standards of modern digital wireless microphone systems, the COS-11D is RF shielded to eliminate interference issues and ensure a pristine audio signal. The microphone capsule features a rectangular design that sits vertically, increasing the surface area and allowing this tiny mic to offer a rich, full sound that outperforms many larger models.

The mic's 50 Hz to 20 kHz frequency response rolls-off extreme low end and provides accurate, transparent audio reproduction with a small presence boost in the 6 kHz area for crisp, intelligible speech. With a forgiving omnidirectional polar pattern that picks up sound in a 360° pattern, levels stay consistent even when the subject turns away from the mic.

A water-resistant mesh screen protects against humidity, perspiration, makeup, bad weather, and other potential on-location issues, while the durable cable is also moisture-resistant and built to stay soft and pliable, even after extended use. This version of the COS-11D terminates in a TA4F connector and is wired for use with Trantec transmitters. A metal windscreen, holder clip, rubber mount, and plastic case are included.

Q: 1. Hi, I own a Sennheiser EW100 G3 Frequency 643.450 MHZ. I want to buy a EW 112P-G4 Omni Directional Mic to work with my EW100 G3 at the same time on my Gh5 XLR unit. Will these 2 wireless mics work with each other with no interference?

A: Yes, they can be used at the same time without interfering with one another. Please be aware that the FCC recently auctioned the 600mHz band away from wireless users, and wireless systems between 614 and 698 mHz will no longer be able to be used in the U.S. after July 2020. https://www.fcc.gov/wireless/bureau-divisions/mobility-division/wireless-microphones

Q: 2. I'm very fond of Sanken mics personally. Thus I wanted to ask how is the reach on this mic. Is there anything you guys could tell in that regards? I know it's not a shotgun mic, however it's Super Card.

A: It very similar to most of other shotgun mics (and it's a shotgun mic). Not as directional as Sennheiser 416, so I wouldn't recommend if you need to capture sounds outdoors very far away.

Q: 3. What’s the best mic for this unit? I’ve heard the included mic is average.

A: For me the best lav for the the G4 would be Sanken COS-11D Omni Lavalier Mic, Normal Sens, Hardwired 1/8" TRS Connector for Sennheiser Evolution Wireless Transmitter. It is a fantastic lav this is the B&H part number B&H # SAC11WNSETRB.

Q: 4. Hi, I just ordered this mic a couple weeks ago. So far it has not shown to turn on or record any audio, nor did I receive an instruction manual with it. I have plugged it into my canon 5d mark III and also a Zoom H5 recorder, and both have giving me no sound from the mic and some plug in noise. No levels are shown to record. I have not been able to find any troubleshooting pieces on line. Can you help me?

A: This microphone requires power you need to send it 48V

Q: 5. Can these be used with a canon 5d mark 2 as well?

A: The receiver in this system is designed specifically for iOS devices and will not connect to a dslr camera.

Q: 6. Is this mic compatible to be used with a Denecke PS power supply? I'm having a problem, cause I just hear a loud hum noise and no transmitter signal. I tried it with other mics and transmitters, and I hear the same loud hum noise.

A: Yes, the Sanken CS-M1 can be used with the Denecke PS-1A or PS-2 which are both compatible 48V phantom power supplies. The Denecke PS-T is not compatible for use with the CS-M1 because it is a 12V "T-power" supply intended for use with older microphones that require lower voltage and the CS-M1 requires 48V phantom power.

Q: 7. Can I used this mic to shoot with my gopro 6?

A: Yes you can, if you have the GoPro Pro 3.5mm Mic Adapter, BH #GO35MA. https://bhpho.to/2xKXdEv

Q: 8. are these still legal in the US? Here's what the FCC says about frequencies - Unlicensed wireless microphone use is permitted on the 902-928 MHz band, the 1920-1930 MHz, and on portions of the 2.4 GHz and 5 GHz bands under specified power levels and rules for operation for each of those bands.

A: These are legal in The US without a liscence. The FCC currently allows wireless microphones in the range of 470-608Mhz to opperate.

Q: 9. The manual says to set AF Out on the receiver to +18 dB. Is this true? Why not 0db?

A: In general, Camera preamps are not the best quality. +18db ensures that you will need the least amount of preamp gain possible, which will maximize the quality you capture with the camera.

Q: 10. Can 1 TX connect to 2 RX simultaneously? Spec say SK500 G4 transmitter can transmit to unlimited number of EW series receivers.

A: Yes, you can connect one Sennheiser SK 500 G4 Wireless Bodypack Transmitter to multiple Sennheiser EK 500 G4 Pro Wireless Camera-Mount Receivers.

[Omnidirectional] I had to return Rode Wireless Filmmaker Kit due to a mediocre SQ and was going through Sound Bible over and over again in search of an answer... I think I found it! Won't compare this two, but rather simply state that it cannot be better, I'm very satisfied with what this mic has to offer, and I'm willing to deal with cable until I find wireless system producing same results... Top notch craftsmanship and performance. VERY sensitive and requires only 9 o'clock gain on my SD MixPre-D for a strong clean signal. Love it!

[Omnidirectional] This microphone is excellent. Durable. The sound is very clean and high quality. If black is worn, the black mic is invisible on camera.
