The beige Sanken COS-11D Omni Lavalier Microphone with Reduced Sensitivity and TA4F Connector for Shure Transmitters is a subminiature lav mic designed to deliver clear, full-bodied sound and reliable performance, making it a popular choice among industry professionals in broadcast, TV, theater, film, videography, and more.

Engineered to meet the standards of modern digital wireless microphone systems, the COS-11D is RF shielded to eliminate interference issues and ensure a pristine audio signal. The microphone capsule features a rectangular design that sits vertically, increasing the surface area and allowing this little mic to offer a rich, full sound that outperforms many larger models.

The mic's 50 Hz to 20 kHz frequency response rolls-off extreme low end and provides accurate, transparent audio reproduction with a small presence boost in the 6 kHz area for crisp, intelligible speech. With a forgiving omnidirectional polar pattern that picks up sound in a 360° pattern, levels stay consistent, even when the subject turns away from the mic.

A water-resistant mesh screen protects against humidity, perspiration, makeup, bad weather, and other potential on-location issues, while the durable cable is also moisture-resistant and built to stay soft and pliable, even after extended use. This version of the COS-11D terminates in a TA4F connector and is wired for use with Shure transmitters. Accessories are available separately and are not included with this configuration of the microphone.

Related Questions and Answers

Q: 1. Can these be plugged in on an airplane?

A: Yes the Shure SE215 headphones can be used on an airplane.

Q: 2. What material is the bag made of? Is it canvas?

A: It is 600D polyester.

Q: 3. will this fit a Nikon Z9 with a 24-70, is it larger than the vanguard veo 36?

A: If the Nikon Z9 Mirrorless Camera and the Nikon NIKKOR Z 24-70mm f/2.8 S Lens are stored not attached to one another, then yes, they would both fit inside the Vanguard VEO RANGE 38M Large Messenger Camera Bag (Beige Tan). The Vanguard VEO RANGE 38M Large Messenger Camera is larger than the Vanguard VEO BIB F36 Camera Bag and the Vanguard VEO Select 36S Shoulder Bag, but appears to be the same size as the (now discontinued) Vanguard VEO RANGE 36M Medium Messenger Camera Bag.

Q: 4. How long is the cable from mic to plug in.

A: Mine measures 49 . FWIW, it's an excellent mic, has very, very good vocal presence and lends itself reasonably well to hiding in collars, inside shirts, etc. Just be aware that it picks up audio around the periphery of the mic head, not directly from the front (the front of the mic has no sound holes for lack of a more elegant term.)I just used this thing for the first time with an Azden Pro XD wireless setup, and it worked great - zero breath pops, no wind noise, minimal to no shirt/fabric noise when properly mounted. It's light years ahead of the mic that comes with the Azden setup.

Q: 5. Would this work on the 3.5mm adapter for the Gopro4 which is connected on the Gopro?

A: No - it is designed for devices offering a female 1/8 TRRS input like smartphones and tablets.

Q: 6. Hi, I just ordered this mic a couple weeks ago. So far it has not shown to turn on or record any audio, nor did I receive an instruction manual with it. I have plugged it into my canon 5d mark III and also a Zoom H5 recorder, and both have giving me no sound from the mic and some plug in noise. No levels are shown to record. I have not been able to find any troubleshooting pieces on line. Can you help me?

A: This microphone requires power you need to send it 48V

Q: 7. What are the internal & external dimensions of this case?

A: This information will be added to our website soon: Internal Dimensions/Camera Compartment (W×D×H/in.)" 15 1/8 × 5 3/4 × 11 3/4 External Dimensions (W×D×H/in.)" 16 7/8 × 8 1/4 × 13 3/8

Q: 8. Would this work with a digital voice recorder? (i.e. Olympus WS-822?) Thanks!

A: No. It is compatible with mobile phones or tablets that offer a 1/8 TRRS Connector

Q: 9. Is this mic compatible to be used with a Denecke PS power supply? I'm having a problem, cause I just hear a loud hum noise and no transmitter signal. I tried it with other mics and transmitters, and I hear the same loud hum noise.

A: Yes, the Sanken CS-M1 can be used with the Denecke PS-1A or PS-2 which are both compatible 48V phantom power supplies. The Denecke PS-T is not compatible for use with the CS-M1 because it is a 12V "T-power" supply intended for use with older microphones that require lower voltage and the CS-M1 requires 48V phantom power.

Q: 10. Shure BLX 1288/CVL-J10 is this rack mountabled??

A: No it isn't. I used a 1U rack shelf and used command strips to secure it.

[Beige] I devoted a lot of time to researching lavalier microphones before I settled on the Sanken COS-11D. I looked and listened to all of the on-line comparisons I could find and read the technical data. I wanted top sound quality for spoken voices and different options to conceal the microphone. B&H had the XLR connector model in stock and it fulfills all of my wishes. Additionally I have a Sony ECM-55B lavalier, a great mic with a long reputation (and also a great deal from the B&H Used store) but it is relatively large in size. Ive tested the Sony vs the Sanken in different environments and bottom line, the Sanken is the clear winner for overall sound quality. it is that much cleaner and crisper with a lively presence and brightness, even when tucked behind a collar. I will buy another one of these if/when I need another lavalier.
