The black Sanken COS-11D Lavalier Mic for Lectrosonics Transmittersis a subminiature lav microphone designed to deliver clear, full-bodied sound and reliable performance, making it a popular choice among industry professionals in broadcast, TV, theater, film, videography, and more.

Engineered to meet the standards of modern digital wireless microphone systems, the COS-11D is RF shielded to eliminate interference issues and ensure a pristine audio signal. The microphone capsule features a rectangular design that sits vertically, increasing the surface area and allowing this tiny mic to offer a rich, full sound that outperforms many larger models.

The mic's 50 Hz to 20 kHz frequency response rolls-off extreme low end and provides accurate, transparent audio reproduction with a small presence boost in the 6 kHz area for crisp, intelligible speech. With a forgiving omnidirectional polar pattern that picks up sound in a 360° pattern, levels stay consistent, even when the subject turns away from the mic.

A water-resistant mesh screen protects against humidity, perspiration, makeup, bad weather, and other potential on-location issues, while the durable cable is also moisture-resistant and built to stay soft and pliable, even after extended use. This version of the COS-11D terminates in a TA5F connector and is wired for use with non-servo-bias Lectrosonics transmitters. Accessories are available separately and are not included with this configuration of the microphone.

Q: 1. Does this fit over the regular foam windscreen included with the mic or is made with the foam integrated with the furry similar to the rode videomicro's? Thanks!

A: This has open-cell foam inside to go right over the VideoMic NTG specifically.

Q: 2. Is it okay to keep it in the rain or should the antenna be covered with a plastic bag?

A: The Lectrosonics ALP620 Perforated LPDA Shark Fin Style Antenna is not IP-rated; therefore, it cannot be left out in the rain. Using a plastic bag or rain cover to protect it will actually affect the wireless range of the antenna, making it prone to RF interference.

Q: 9. Is there an adapter for lectrosonics compatible (TA5F) lavs, or would I need to get new lavs for this?

A: Although we have seen custom adapters to convert TA5F to 3-Pin Lemo, we recommend using lavaliers with dedicated wiring for the Lectrosonics SSM Digital Hybrid Wireless Miniature Transmitter. B&H does not offer adapters of this nature at this time.

Q: 10. Compatible with the canon R5C

A: The DJI Mic 2 MI Shoe Camera Adapter is not compatible with the Canon R5C.

[Plug-In Power] I devoted a lot of time to researching lavalier microphones before I settled on the Sanken COS-11D. I looked and listened to all of the on-line comparisons I could find and read the technical data. I wanted top sound quality for spoken voices and different options to conceal the microphone. B&H had the XLR connector model in stock and it fulfills all of my wishes. Additionally I have a Sony ECM-55B lavalier, a great mic with a long reputation (and also a great deal from the B&H Used store) but it is relatively large in size. Ive tested the Sony vs the Sanken in different environments and bottom line, the Sanken is the clear winner for overall sound quality. it is that much cleaner and crisper with a lively presence and brightness, even when tucked behind a collar. I will buy another one of these if/when I need another lavalier.

[Plug-In Power] Clear, crisp sound. Works perfect with our Sennheiser Evo Wireless. The amount of ambient noise this mic rejects is unbelievable. May seem pricey, but it's extremely well worth it!
