$977.97 $1,515.85

Offering lower noise, higher sensitivity, and more adjustable settings than the VideoMic, the RODE VideoMic Pro Shotgun Microphone Kit with Boompolecamera-mount shotgun microphone is ideal for mobile journalists, vloggers, budget filmmakers, and run-and-gun shooters looking for a cost-effective way to step up to the next level in quality.

A single 9V battery provides up to 70 hours of run time and an LED turns red to indicate low-battery status. Adjustable gain and a selectable bass roll-off make it easy to optimize the level and tone of your recording for a range of scenarios.

This compact and lightweight shotgun microphone features an integrated shockmount that mounts directly to your camera or boompole and reduces noise from various vibrations. The windscreen design reduces wind noise, making it well suited for outdoor shoots. The attached 3.5mm TRS cable ensures easy hookup to your camera, and the dual-mono output means that no channel selection is necessary on your recording device.

Whereas most built-in camera microphones pick up sound from all directions, this microphone utilizes a supercardioid polar pattern to focus on sound in front of it while attenuating sound from the sides and rear. Its low-noise electronics and sensitive condenser element deliver more detailed audio than the mics typically found in cameras and portable recorders.

A straight 3.5mm cable is permanently attached to the mic for fast hookup to your camera. The cable's 3.5mm TRS plug is wired in a dual-mono configuration, ensuring that the mic signal is sent identically to both input channels of your camera or portable recorder.

Pop a 9V battery in the VideoMic Pro for up to 70 hours of operating time. The dedicated power LED changes from green to red when the battery should be replaced. The VideoMic Pro can still function for approximately 10 hours once the power indicator turns red, but performance will be compromised. Use the power switch to conserve battery life during periods of inactivity.

The high-pass filter can be set to flat or 80 Hz to roll off low-frequency noise from common sources such as air conditioners and traffic.

To enable optimal recording levels, the VideoMic Pro boasts a 3-stage gain control. Like the low roll-off and high-frequency boost, the gain control is digitally switched for precision and convenience. The +20 dB setting is ideal when recording to cameras, as it boosts the signal without requiring extreme gain on the camera's inferior preamp. Select the flat setting when routing the mic into a dedicated high-quality preamp, or switch to the -10 dB option when loud sound sources threaten to distort your recording.

Understanding that the rubber bands used in many shockmounts can snap and stretch, Rode chose to integrate a rugged Rycote Lyre suspension-style shockmount. This simplifies setup of the mic and inhibits the transfer of vibrations from the camera. Plus, the bottom of the shockmount features a camera shoe mount with a 3/8" thread, ensuring easy attachment to your camera or a boompole such as Rode's Micro Boompole (available separately).

The VideoMic Pro has a foam windscreen to reduce unwanted wind noise from breezes, fans, heaters, and air conditioners. For maximum reduction of wind noise in outdoor environments, consider a furry windshield such as the Rode DeadCat VMPR (available separately).

Expand the microphone's device compatibility with Rode accessories such as the SC4 and VXLR (both available separately). The SC4 is a short cable that lets you connect the VideoMic Pro directly to a smartphone or tablet equipped with a 3.5mm TRRS jack. The VXLR adapter is the ideal solution when you want to record the VideoMic Pro to a camcorder or mixer that has XLR inputs.

Related Questions and Answers

Q: 1. Will this Rode VideoMic Pro come with those little rubberbands that were included with the original Rode VideoMic?

A: No, that is the reason that they have changed it. It is much better and you do not have to deal with the rubber bands that are a pain.

Q: 2. Does this work well with GoPro cameras ?

A: you have to get the GoPro mic input adapter, and have a cold shoe or other place to mount it,. boom pole, etc , but, functions as it should and sounds great. I haven't done extensive testing with it, but the auto power on function seems to work from a regular power up from the GoPro, and not with the quick capture, one button record method... I haven't looked into wether there is a setting that can be changed to remedy that as I use a separate external recorder with the mic on a boom pole, and the quick record button I rarely use. Casey

Q: 3. hi is this the new rode video mic pro powered by 2A battery?

A: No. 9V.

Q: 4. Would this work for recording dialogue between two people in a quiet room from about 10 ft away? And is this compatible with Nikon3200?

A: The Rode VideoMic Pro is compatible with the D3200 and similar cameras that feature an 1/8 mic input jack. Average range for pickup would be 2-5 feet. For capturing audio at a distance of 10 feet clearly would require a significantly longer microphone and not an optimal recording scenario. It would be recommended to use a mic off camera or lavalier mics.

Q: 5. Will this mic works to be plugged straight to the 3,5 jack port of the Atomos ninja flame monitor to record audio ? Do you have any recommendations ? Thanks for your answer !

A: The Rode VideoMic Pro is compatible with the Atomos Ninja Flame. The Ninja Flame features a 3.5mm input jack that accepts mic and line level signals. The Rode mic is self powered via battery and is a great choice for a quality and compact mic for your video recorder/camera.

Q: 6. Can this be connected and used as a PC microphone?

A: Technically yes because it runs off of a 9v battery. The proper way to do it would be to plug it into an audio interface first, but you could just run it into a microphone input on a computer. Then, set your system preferences to that mic as the input.

Q: 7. Will this fit a Sony FDR-AX100?

A: Yes it will

Q: 8. How do you install the video mic pro on a boom pole?

A: The hot shoe of the microphone comes with a native screw thread for the boom pole. Assembly is very easy, though I recommend having tape on hand to tape the cord of the mic to the pole so that the cord doesn't dangle into any footage.

Q: 9. Does the high pass filter work effectively to reduce the impact of DSLR lens motor noise? I tried several micro phones which do not have high pass filter, but those microphones pick up the mechanical noise of DSLR lens motor. I'm looking for the microphone which can reduce the impact of the noise.

A: The high pass filter may help with this issue. it may attenuate it, but may or may not totally eliminate it. The best solution is to use the mic off camera with a bracket.

Q: 10. HI,is it compatible with the nikon D7000 & DJI osmo+ ?

A: Hello, I can only speak using the mic on my Nikon D750 but I've seen Youtube videos before I made my purchase where the Rode Stereo VideoMic Pro works with the D7000 and DJI osmo. There are several clips where people show and talk about it. I video a lot of local bands and even though the built in stereo mic on my Nikon D750 works wonderful, the high frequency cymbal crashes would occasionally distort the clarity and over modulate. The Rode Stereo VideoMic Pro has completely taken care of that problem for me. Plus for my application, it works better than a shotgun mic which is very directional. I also registered my Rode Stereo VideoMic Pro with Rode, the day I received it and got their 10 year warranty. Based on my needs, I would recommend this mic. Best of luck!

[Supercardioid] I purchased this product for use in my student films to mount on my Canon 60D. The stock mic on DSLRs don't provide the audio I wanted when shooting my short films. When using the Rode VideoMic, I received perfect sound quality to go with the beautiful video quality of the 60D. I have no bad words about this piece of equipment.

[Battery] I Shoot professional skiing, and am using this shotgun mic on my Canon 7D. The sound quality, Clarity, and the amount of noise it pics up from a distance is outstanding. First time listing to 60fps shots with volume i was blown away. Highly suggested for the price.

[Black] This mix gives me consistent results in a light frame. It sits atop my camera for run and gun camera shooting and it works great. At the same time, I'm not sure how it'll handle harsh bumps since it's so light.
