Related Questions and Answers

Q: 1. Will this microphone loose the Noise Cancelation and Microphone Directionality functions on analog mode? e.g. Sony a7III & Sony a6500.

A: No it will not. Everything should work fine regardless of the mode you are in

Q: 2. will this work with Lumix FZ300?

A: This should be no problem. Newer versions of the Lumix have the proper 3.5mm input jack so using the boom pole should work fine. Also, the standard shoe mount will accept direct mounting on the camera.

Q: 3. Can I extend the cable if my camera is far from this mic (mounted on a stand) ?

A: Yes, a standard 3.5mm audio extension cable would allow you to extend the cable on the Rode VideoMic Camera-Mount Shotgun Microphone. BH #ROVC1 Rode VC1 3.5mm TRS Microphone Extension Cable for Cameras (10') is an example of this type of cable: https://bhpho.to/33Or2Vv

Q: 4. How is this different from any other TRS cable you might already have in your bag?

A: This is specifically designed and shielded for LANC control.

Q: 5. Is this compatible with the Sony FS5 servo?

A: Unfortunately I don't have similar device to answer this question

Q: 6. Is this mic compatible with the FX30? The FX30 page on Sony's website states it has a Multi Interface Shoe yet I saw an answer stating this mic was not compatible with the FX3 which I thought had the same style of Hot shoe. If not compatible are there any Sony shotgun mics that are compatible?

A: I reached out to Sony and confirmed that the Sony ECM-B1M Camera-Mount Digital Shotgun Microphone is compatible with both the FX30 and the FX3 Cinema Cameras. The ECM-B1M can be connected directly to the Multi Interface Shoe on both cameras.

Q: 7. Can this mic be used with the Canon 70D?

A: Yes you sure can. Works great!

Q: 8. Does this extension compatible with Libec ZFC-L Remote to Sony Camcorder?

A: Yes, this extension will work with the Libec ZFC-L Remote.

Q: 9. Will both the digital and analog audio work for the a7c?

A: Yes, as it has the updated MI-hotshoe. For a full list of compatible cameras and their caveats, see: https://bit.ly/3ma1pCy

Q: 10. Is anyone else experiencing muffled audio and loud hissing noises throughout?

A: Make sure your gain is set correctly.

[0.8 lb] It’s the perfect travel gadget, it fits comfortably in my hand when collapsed and is big enough to be quite stable when opened. It’s also really sturdy and made with great quality. Over all if your looking for convenience, quality, and a good price, then this is the right product.

[0.8 lb] This cable extension for the zoom mic capsules is handy when you want to place the mic capsule in a different location so you can keep your actual field recorder close to you for settings changes. The extension cable is long enough and the action mount comes with a swivel base with a 1/4-20 female thread on the bottom.

[9.8' (3 m)] Seems fairly simple, but the ability to separate the Zoom recorder from its capsules opens a whole new world of recording possibilities. When you consider the price/performance of Zoom microphone capsules - for example, the SSH-6: A very capable shotgun microphone that is perfectly usable for documentary or talking heads can now be separated from the recorder and used on a proper boom- the person recording audio is free to adjust levels.
The cable is expensive, but not unusual for this type of custom interface.

[0.8 lb] Works great for using the Zoom mic capsules on booms and at distances away from the recording unit. This way there is no chance of interference by bumping the recording unit accidentally. The only thing to be mindful of is that the gain adjustments are on the mic itself, so you will have to set that manually on the mic. Not an issue if the mic is close by, but if it is on a boom or across the room, you have to set it and forget it.

[9.8' (3 m)] We use the Zoom H6 constantly and being able to move the mics close to the subjects with the extension cable while operating the recorder behind the camera is a real plus.

[0.8 lb] I use this with my H6 for live music recording and it makes it much easier to place the Zoom mic capsules in a good spot. The construction quality is solid. A little pricey for what it does and I could always use a little more length but it makes my life easier and I'm glad I made the purchase.

[0.8 lb] if you are trying to decide between an H5 and the new H4N Pro, this product may help make up your mind. It allows you to place the KH5 mic capsule in a location separate from the hand held unit. This is a real advantage when placing the entire unit would put it in a place (such as on top of a pole next to the sound board,) where setting or adjusting the levels would be inconvenient or impossible.

[9.8' (3 m)] This lens is the equivalent of having a set of CP.2 primes in the form factor of a zoom. There's zero focus breathing, beautiful bokeh, beautiful micro contrast. We just used this lens on an Fs7ii for a feature narrative film, and people have been commenting on how great it looks. I thought I would explain why: it's this lens. The focus is smooth, and we kept it mostly at an T4.5 except for a few scenes. You'll definitely want a focus puller if you're wide at 2.9. It's advertised at being a T2.9-3.9, but none of us could tell the difference really. It looked great at all ends of the zoom range. There was no discernible difference in sharpness wide or telephoto (like most zoom lenses out there). Just know that it's very large, and will weigh down your camera. In theory it would work for doc work, but would be a lot to carry, and would probably be intimidating toward subjects. For narrative work on a budget, I can't recommend it enough. it's better contrast, sharpness and focus breathing than the Fujinon MK series, and leaps and bounds better than any photo zoom lens. I can't recommend this enough.
