This 50mm f/1.2 lens is designed for APS-C-format Sony E mount mirrorless cameras and provides a 75mm equivalent focal length.

Bright, fast f/1.2 maximum aperture benefits working in difficult lighting conditions and also avails extensive control over shallow depth of field.

Two aspherical elements help to control chromatic and comatic aberrations in order to achieve greater sharpness and clarity.

An Ultra Multi-Coating has been applied to all lens elements in order to suppress lens flare and ghosting for increased contrast and color accuracy.

This manual focus lens has a non-rotating 62mm front filter mount to better enable the use of polarizing, graduated ND, and other filter types that require precise positioning.

Rounded nine-blade diaphragm contributes to a pleasing out-of-focus quality when using selective focus or shallow depth of field techniques.

Related Questions and Answers

Q: 1. Will this lens work with my Canon EOS Rebel SL1 if I buy a certain adapter, and if so, what type of adapter should I be getting?

A: Yes. This lens will work with any APS-C Canon EOS DSLR (including the SL1) when using a Canon EF to Canon EF-M adapter. Keep in mind that it will be manual focus and manual aperture control.

Q: 2. Will this lens work on the a6000?

A: Yes, this is mountable on the A6000. Due to the A6000's APS-C sensor, it would be approximately a 75mm equivalent field of view.

Q: 3. Are there click stops for intermediate apertures? 1/2 stop? 1/3 stop?

A: Yes, at full and half stops.

Q: 4. How does the manual focus work? Is it fast?

A: What body do you have? I have a Fuji X-T1..So manual focus would work a different way than on a Sony.

Q: 5. How long is the focus throw on the manual focus ring (in degrees)?

A: The throw is approximately 180.

Q: 6. Is this lense compatible with my GH4 camera?

A: This lens will be compatible with the GH4.

Q: 7. Will this lens work on a GH4 with a Metabones EF to M43 adapter

A: Yes, this lens will be compatible with the GH4 using a Canon EF mount to Micro Four Thirds camera adapter.

Q: 8. Is the lens hood removable?

A: Yes, the hood is bayonet mounted, can be removed and reverse mounted for more compact storage.

Q: 9. What are the rear electronic contacts for?

A: The contacts allow electronic communication between the camera and the lens. While this is a manual focus lens only, the lens can do a focus confirmation via a green dot in the viewfinder and an audible beep. Perhaps more important is that you can control the aperture of the lens by the camera. Finally, the lens metadata such as aperture, focus distance, millimeter and manufacturer can be recorded to the image file to help in your processing.

Q: 10. Is the 1:1.2 (0.833) magnification correct?

A: Yes, this lens has a Macro Reproduction Ratio of 1:1.2.

[APS-C] I've owned the 56mm f1.2 before and this lens was clearly made to be a much cheaper alternative to that lens. Some comments based on categories:
- Cost: Got it on a holiday sale for $380. The Fuji 56 used is around $750. That's almost half. I could buy another lens with that money. And I did.
- Focusing: Manual focusing with focus peaking and focus checking I've found is so much more accurate, reliable, and enjoyable than autofocus in portraiture.
- Weight: Almost 1/3 lb lighter than the Fuji 56. I mean...why bother going mirrorless if you prefer more heft.
- Build: Mount is metal, which for me is all that matters. I like that the barrel is plastic rather than metal because for one, it's much lighter, and two, I don't feel like I have to baby it as much. Plus this is clearly a portrait lens...why would I need for it to be able to withstand getting dropped when I'm standing still? Just don't drop it...
- IQ: Sharpness is dumb at 1.2. Dumb good. I've never NOT had to apply sharpening in post. It's that sharp.

If you're wondering why you have to pay such a premium for excellent optics for Fujifilm cameras, you don't. Try Rokinon. You won't regret it.

[f/1.2] I bought this lens with some experience using manual lenses before. Once mounted on my EOS M3, the lens feels solid and focusing was not a problem using the integrated magnifier and peaking focus option. The use of Canon EVF-DC1 viewfinder is also strong recommended. Lens focus ring is a little tought and it has a long travel from minimum distance to infinity, but enough to focus with precision. With that on mind, I purchased this lens only for adult portraits and pics of static objects. It's not suitable to shoot children or action photography. Prior to this lens, I had been using a Canon EF 50mm f/1.4 USM with EOS EF to EF-M adapter. The 50mm 1.4 was fine an easy to use but its image quality is average to my taste, specially with apertures below 2.8. This rokinon shines in IQ from f2. Sharpening and contrast are aceptable at wider apertures, and always better than the Canon and with smoother bokeh. Vignetting is also visible, but nothing to worry about it. Overall, is an excellent performing lens and optically superior to use than the Canon standard lens.

[62 mm (Front)] I've seen a review of this lens that states it's sharper than Fujifilms own 56mm f/1.2...I don't know for sure but this is a very nice sharp lens (as they say, for the money)....or for any amount of money..Try it, if your not happy with it just send it back..

[9, Rounded] Images from this lens look outstanding. The sharpness wide open is very respectable, and you be hard-pressed to complain about it from f/2.8f/8. There is some color fringing in high contrast areas, but still very well controlled. Shooting plenty of video, I have noticed that there is slight focus breathing on the lens, but its only apparent if you rack focus from infinity to a close subject quickly vice versa. Build quality is solid. Using the focus/ aperture rings are a pleasure and I'm a huge fan of the look of that metallic red ring :P infinity focus is not at the hard stop but thats not an issue for me. The lens fits snuggly on my a6500. The only complaint would be that the lens hood and rear lens cap are pretty loose.

[APS-C] The Rokinon 50 1.2 surprised with top-notch performance wide open, little chromatic aberrations and no vignetting. It's the best performing 50mm I have used on the a6300 so far. If you can deal with the lack of AF go for it! Manuel focus feels smooth and built quality is excellent.

[Sony E] I am pretty shocked at how fantastic this lens is optically. It is amazingly sharp edge to edge right at f1.2 and really doesn't need to be stopped down. The Bokeh quality it top notch and the colors and contrast are great. Mechanical operation is solid and smooth and the build is very good. The only drawback for this lens is that for micro 4/3, it is fairly big and heavy. But, that can also be said of the closest AF lens alternative, the Panasonic Leica 42.5mm f1.2. You probably know this is Manual only lens. So if you aren't comfortable with that, this is not for you. With many of the newer cameras, focus peaking and center magnification make it easier, but it's still not as nice as a quick AF button (or face detect AF since this is most likely a portrait lens). TL;DR - If you are OK with a manual only lens, this definitely holds its own against the super expensive Leica 42.5mm F1.2 and the best AF lenses in the system. It's simply superb.

[31.7°] I use this lens with a Sony alpha 6000. The Lens is incredibly sharp, with little to no barrel distortion or chromatic aberrations. It is a prime lens, and it does not connect electronically to the camera -- this means manual focus only and no EXIF information stored on the shots as to the lens and aperture used. If this is OK with you (it is with me), then this is a great lens. I now use only Rokinon / Samyang prime lenses in addition to the 55-210mm Sony zoom lens for wildlife shots with the a6000. Some people have noted that there should be a distance scale to help with estimating the deapth of field, but after having had the lens for a while you will develop a good intuition for this anyway. One thing that could be an issue some months / heavy usage down the line: f numbers and focusing distances are painted not etched into the lens, so they could wear off after a while I guess.

[f/1.2] Pros:
- Very sharp, even at maximum aperture. I saw a video comparing it to the Fuji 56 f1.2, and it seems like the individual doing the review had a bad copy, because it didn't seem very sharp at all at 1.2. However, I was pleasantly surprised by the optics of this lens.
- Very little vignetting, even at maximum aperture.
- Good build quality, doesn't feel cheap in hand despite the use of plastics. Some say that the fit isn't ''snug'' with their Fuji body, however I don't think that is very noticeable. The fit is very similar to that of the XF 18-55mm kit lens.
- Smooth bokeh.
- Decent hood

Cons:
- Manual lens, but honestly, with focus peaking, this is a pure joy to use. Focusing in low light can actually be quicker once you get used to it.
- Focus ring could be a bit smoother. This is down to personal preference, but the focus ring is a bit tight.

This is a great lens, if you don't mind manually focusing, go for it!
