Related Questions and Answers

Q: 1. Does this light meter work in low or dim light or is the Sekonic L478DR a better option for low/dim light? Thanks!

A: I never had a Sekonic meter, the DigiPro F2 was my first light meter, and I used to meter at most time about flash metering, and the DigiPro F2 for me is very usefull.

Q: 2. Does this meter come with a case?

A: Yes, the Gossen DigiPro F2 flash/ambient light meter V2 comes with a protective softcase.

Q: 3. Does this light/flash meter have full, one half, and one third stop shutter settings? Example...shutter speed 125,160,200,and 250 of a second. Thank You

A: The meter does measure in 1/1, 1/2 or 1/3 EV.

Q: 4. is user manual in english available?

A: The user manual that came with my Gossen Digisix 2 Light Meter is in English and German.

Q: 5. Is there a way to mount this to a stand? Some kind of clamp or holder?

Q: 6. Will this work for the A7 III and Godox AD200 & Godox V860II?

A: Yes.

Q: 7. I have an old Gossen Digital Luna Pro. Great meter over-all. The only problem-The white incident/reflective sliding dome over time does not stay locked in place. I know other people who have experienced the same problem...Does anyone knowif this problem has been resolved on the new Gossen Sixtomat F2 Light Meter? Pete 8/9/2015

A: I've just bought the Gossen Sixtomat F2 and have had it just over a month. As far as I can see there is no problem with regards to not staying locked although who knows what might eventuate over time. The reason I bought the Gossen is because of its reputation and it is a very good piece of equipment to help the photographer.

Q: 8. is there a provision for wireless connection to flashes ?

A: This meter can read strobe lights without connecting them directly with a PC cord with its noncord function but the meter can not wirelessly trigger flashes. If you need the meter to trigger the lights you will need to connect a sync cable to the side of the meter via the PC connection.

Q: 9. Is this aperture priority for readings?

A: The available measuring functions when using the Gossen DigiPro F2 - Flash and Ambient Light Meter, B&H # GODPFAL, are Shutter priority, Contrast measurement, Aperture priority, Exposure Value measurement, or CINE (frame rate) mode.

Q: 10. Does this light meter have a shutter speed value of 1/200 and 1/160 that you can select in the shutter priority? I shoot with a Canon camera and wanted to make sure these values are used in the light meter settings.

A: The Gossen Sixtomat F2 Exposure Meter has shutter values of 1/8000 s to 60 min. It includes 1/200 and 1/160 among them.

[Incident] This is an excellent meter. I hardly ever know it's hanging around my neck. Tremendously accurate. I'm a big fan of a Silicon Cell in a meter. Well worth the money.

[Footcandle, Lux] Had to replace a not working Gossen SBC. The new meter is small, light weight, and easy to use. 95% of my light readings are incident readings. Having a built in timer is a bonus.

[Flat] This is my second Mavolux 5032 meter which I use for precision illuminance measurement in a lab environment. The accuracy and precision of the meter is excellent, especially at low lux (very good sensitivity). and the USB connectivity allows it to be used in automated systems. Although it is expensive, it is worth every penny!

I measurements of luminance (cd/m^2 or 'nits') are needed, there is an optional collimating accessory available.

It is important to note the following things:
- This is an ambient light meter only, as it does not have a strobe triggering mode or any means of synchronizing with or firing flash devices.
- This device is targeted towards scientific type applications rather than photographic since it measures in units of lux and does not have built-in facilities for working with ISO/shutter speed/aperture units (one could setup a simple calculation to perform the conversions, but this is not really practical in a studio).

[0.7 lb] First, let me say that I bought this meter on one of B&H's Deal of the Day sales for about half price making it an outstanding value. I have used a multitude of meters over the last 45+ years. so I do have some experience. This is a relatively simple meter by today's standards, a feature that I like. If your looking for a meter that can do it all with lots of accessories, look elsewhere. The instruction manual is sort of sparse, but I was able to figure it out after about five minutes of playing with the meter. It's very light weight and relatively compact and will fit in most shirt pockets, a feature that I like. The exposure readings are accurate for both flash and ambient light. The light receptor rotates in all directions, another nice touch. Now for the Cons. The neck strap is junk. The case is well made of neoprene, but I don't like it's horizontal format and the velcro closure is way too strong making it somewhat hard to open. Some bemoan the lack of an off switch, but it shuts off automatically so I don't really find it a problem. At full price, I would give it four stars, but for what I paid it's a five star meter.

[Footcandle, Lux] It may not be fully automated, but it'll get the job done.

[Footcandle, Lux] My first Gossen lasted me 20+ years, I expect this will be the same.

[Incident] I have been in Photography most of my life, off and on. And have been using in camera light meters, and felt there must be something better. I have a old Luba Pro which still works great. But as my eyes get older, I felt I needed a digital. Have always liked Gossen, got the DigaPro, love it, easy to use and fantastic photos.

[1x AA] After having used a Gossen Mavolux 5032C for almost 20 years for low light crash scene documentation, my old meter unexpectedly quit on me. I ended up buying a new 5032C, but decided to try Mavolux Compact out as a backup. After using both, I will probably end up using the Mavolux Compact as my primary meter. The addition of a screen backlight on the Compact really makes a difference when metering poorly lit scenes.

[0.7 lb] I have used the previous version of this meter for many years until it bought the farm. It's perfect for use with BW or color negative film. Scan the scene in reflective mode and the contrast range is displayed. Set the exposure to 1.5 stops above the min value (or 2 stops above in a really high contrast scenes) and your negative will be perfect every time. I have not found a meter better for negatives. (For slides I use my trusty old Minolta 1 degree spot meter).
With mirrorless digital, WYSIWYG makes a light meter totally obsolete so consider this meter the best choice only for negative film general photography.

[Incident] It is my second Gossen that I buy. The last one last me more than 10 years. And when I needed to order another light meter, only gossen came to my mind. It is a really good device and does exactly what I need.
