The buckwheat-filled, 4.2L, black SafariSack Beanbag from Kinesis Photo Gear is designed to provide a soft support for your camera. Buckwheat hull filler is included in the SafariSack, although it can be removed from the zippered compartment and replaced with rice or other fill. The bottom of the beanbag has a rubberized-style fabric that keeps the sack in place when put on a vehicle or other slick surface. The SafariSack can be used as a flat support, saddlebag style, or as a tripod ballast.

Related Questions and Answers

Q: 1. Can you refill this bag?

A: Yes, one end is zippered. The manufacturer's tag has recommendations for other fillings.

Q: 2. Are the straps long enough to connect to the lens lugs on a 600mm lens? Big lenses shouldn't be hanging off the camera mount.

A: The supplied adjustable camera straps for the Kinesis H717-J X-Harness Kit Camera Harness are 30.00 to 47.25" long.

Q: 3. are you able to take portrait and landscape pics with the dslr attached to harness?

A: sure you can.

Q: 4. how much does the buckwheat weigh for the 4.2 bag?

A: Hi, the Kinesis Buckwheat Hulls for SafariSack 4.2 weighs about 1.125lbs.

Q: 5. Can you attach two together to make it larger?

A: Yes, two can be attached to each other to make it bigger.

Q: 6. How much does this weigh when filled with git-lite?

A: Kinesis lists the SafariSack 4.2 as weighing 2 lbs 10 oz when filled with git-lite.

Q: 7. Can Poly Bead fill or Git-Lite fill be ordered separately for this bag?

A: Yes, poly beads can be ordered separately for the Kinesis SafariSack Beanbag Camera Support (Buckwheat Hulls Filled, Black, 4.2L): https://www.bhphotovideo.com/c/product/1081615-REG/kinesis_r142_poly_bead_fill_for.html

Q: 8. Can I travel overseas (Africa) with the buckwheat hulls?

A: I would recommend contacting the TSA. https://www.tsa.gov/

Q: 9. will this work on a car window?

A: With the window rolled all the way down, yes. If you're talking about with the window part way down and putting it on the glass...sorta yes...obviously with it resting on a just a thin piece of glass it would be wobbly since there wouldn't be a wide piece of support under it.

Q: 10. I m looking to carry and have rapid access to both a pair of binoculars and a Canon 7d with 100-400 telephoto for birding while sparing my back. Will this work for that?

A: Yes, this will work for your setup as well as the Cotton Carrier system. You can view the other options by clicking the link below; https://bhpho.to/2NcjBMM

[Zipper] I recently returned from a safari in South Africa, where our wildlife photography opportunities were from inside a car. The Safarisack 1.4 Beanbag was a quick and easy way to achieve good camera stability (using a heavy Pentax K-1 and 150-450 zoom combination). I filled it with dried split peas, which were easily obtainable and worked great, and I found the size of the 1.4 model bag just right. The rubberized surface minimizes slipping on the window edge or other surface, which was always an issue with previous home made beanbags I have used, and the carry handle makes handling very easy. I also enjoyed being able to empty the bag after the trip, getting rid of weight and bulk for air travel back home. Highly recommended.

[Nylon] I had always heard about using a bean bag for macro work but always relied on tripods. Once I did purchase the SafariSack i was very impressed with a well thought out product and quality build. Using it today for some close to ground flowers in rocky terrain it was a joy to use. I even worked a couple of focus stack images with a focusing rail firmly sitting on the bag. This bag is now a permeant part of my Macro kit to take in the field.

[Nylon] I bought this for using in the Jeep when I go to Kenya in a couple months. We are limited to 30 pounds total including all personal items which will be a challenge with my Canon r5 a decent lens and this item, but I would rather get great photos than dress nicely!

[Zipper] It's very nicely made. I bought 32oz a bag of
Loops & Thread Pellets from Michael's. That was just enough to fill
it. It would be nice if they had a size in-between the 1.4 and the 4.2. The 1.4 is a little smaller than I expected. But it works for my needs.

[Zipper] The Safarisack 4.2 Beanbag Camera Support (khaki) is one of the cheaper padded supports for photographing with long lenses that needs stabilization to precisely place the focus point on the eye of a distant bird or mammal. The sac is wide enough for the larger lenses and long enough to stratal the car door and stay in place. For smaller cars and trucks that don't have higher opening windows as the large pickups do, I have found this bag to my best choice. Larger beanbags work on the larger pickup windows or in larger stationary blinds. The sack's design and build quality are very good Sunflower seeds make an excellent choice to fill the sac; they are lighter and cheaper than other choices.
