Related Questions and Answers

Q: 1. Is there a user manual somewhere?

A: Yes, you can find it on the Blackmagic Design website. If you go into the DeckLink product specs page you can find the link in the Description section. You can also find it in the Support page under Latest Support Notes. It is also included when you install the Desktop Video driver for the card.

Q: 2. What other connection does this card need besides the PIC bus? Does it need extra power?

A: No extra power is required for the Blackmagic Design DeckLink Quad HDMI Recorder Capture Card. All you will require is a PCI-E slot with the specs listed below. Computer Interface: PCI Express 8 lane generation 3, compatible with 8 and 16 lane PCI Express slots.

Q: 3. I realize this might not perform as well as it would with the 3.0 interface, but Will this functionally operate (backward compatible) with a PCI Express 2.0 interface ? And If I'm using just 2... maybe 3 HDMI ports, would I likely be able to use it without issues if I'm just doing 1080p ??

A: Using a PCIe Gen 2 slot might limit your performance and may or may not work when trying to input or output multiple signals simultaneously.

Q: 4. I want to record the vMix output over HDMI to a recording device that would record to a SSD. What type of recorder do I need?

A: I would recommend the Blackmagic Design HyperDeck Studio HD Pro. You can connect the HDMI to the back of the HyperDeck and it will record to a SSD drive. https://www.bhphotovideo.com/c/product/1657120-REG/blackmagic_design_hyperdeck_studio_hd_pro.html?sts=pi&pim=Y

Q: 5. Can it scale an image? To use with Vmix input a laptop and be able to scale to 59.94i for Vmix. Looking to get rid of the decimator.

A: This does not offer any scaling.

Q: 6. This capture audio from each Hdmi input?

A: Yes, it's capturing audio.

Q: 7. will this card ork in a gigabyte motherboard with a PCI Express x16 slot, running at x4 (PCIEX4)?

A: yes this will Work on a PCIEX4

Q: 8. Does this work with livestream studio?

A: Yes, this is compatible with Livestream Studio.

Q: 9. What kind of SSD / M.2 drive(s) can I use to to reliably record x4 4k 30 streams at once? Will a M.2 drive 2.0 work? I have an older Dell PC with an I7-8700 processor running win10 w/16 gig of ram. Will the BlackMagic desktop record software be ok to use. Thanks. (sorry for all the questions)

A: Yes just make sure the proper 8 or 16 lane PCI Express slots is available on motherboard. For your storage needs please review the following item https://bhpho.to/3qnMoC0 Crucial 1TB P5 NVMe PCIe M.2 Internal SSD BH #CRCT1000P5SS • MFR #CT1000P5SSD8

Q: 10. Would this Capture Card allow for 4 inputs from separate Gaming Consoles and allow for switching between each HDMI feed without a delay within a Streaming Software such as OBS?

A: I can not honestly answer this as I don't use it for gaming. But I do use it with 4 cameras for live streaming and it switches between cameras without any delay.

[0.66 lb] Excellent product, I bought it in February 2017, and so far it works without problems. My company makes transmissions in social media, and I already have several hundred hours worked with this card, without any problem.

[Manual Control] It's a solid capture card. Make sure to read the instructions on driver installation though. I'm ashamed to admit that I didn't extract the zip file they provided and that gave me great problems but the moment I extracted it the installation was a success!

[Manual Control] I'm a big fan of these capture cards. I've tried Black Magic's cheaper version of these cards and they were riddled with bugs. Their thunderbolt mini recorders were just as bad and unreliable. These cards run for sever hours a day, 5 days a week in our studio and have held up strong for the past two years. In regards to the loud fan issue using Mac products, I'm happy to say Magewell remedied this issue with the release of their 12/2019 drivers from their site. The card doesn't run at 100% fan speed anymore and is much quieter than ever. The old saying applies to this product you get what you pay for. These cards are worth the price.

[8.7 x 7 x 3.1"] I recently bought a 2 channel Magewell Capture card to use with WireCast streaming program that I am using. It worked so well that I sent it back and bought the 4 channel card. It also worked very, very good. It lets me adjust the size of the individual inputs to fit the screen. So I would recommend it to anyone needing to get video into their computer.
