[Nick Saglimbeni] Had the audioengine 2's and wasn't satisfied, moved up to the 5's and found them worse - muddy all across the midrange, overly boomy bass, completely muffled vocals, etc. Wanted something clear and precise, and was willing to sacrifice bass to get it.

I picked these up because of the brand's reputation, thinking I'd pair them with a small subwoofer and get better full frequency response than getting the 8020s (or even 8030s) alone. But I was BLOWN AWAY by the low end. No, it's not going to rattle the windows with its power, but the notes are reproduced in the music. I can't believe how good this sounds with professionally mastered music and movies. It thunders when necessary! And one of the best things is that it shows you, right away, how far away your mix is. A good mix sounds amazing. A quicky mix you've done in ableton... sounds horrible. That's exactly what you want from a studio monitor. I've in love and only wish I had picked these up 8 years ago instead of screwing around with junk monitors. I used to joke that these are the only monitors you see at every international art exhibition using sound, but now I know why. I have the space for a subwoofer at my desk studio, but now I seriously doubt I'm going to get one... at least for the time being. 5 stars.

[Nick Saglimbeni] The Genelec 8010 pair of studio monitors fits perfectly on my desk. The Senal attenuator alone cost $100 and it is worthwhile addition. It has a useful mute button that I use all the time. The speaker stands are way oversized but I view it as a throw in for future use since the pair of Genelec 8010 studio monitors and the Senal attenuator alone exceeds the cost of the bundle.

[Nick Saglimbeni] Genelec 8010s has the best sound in such a compact package. I find the Senal PMC-II controller to be very useful to be an intermediary connection between my Rodecaster Pro and my pair of Genelec 8010s. The mute button and the attenuation know are very useful. Regarding the speaker stands, they are much too large for the Genelec 8010 but I consider this a give away being thrown in the package that I can use in the future.

[Nick Saglimbeni] I'm not an expert by any means but these are the best small form factor near-fields I've ever heard. If you have very little space to work with these are the answer. The sweet spot is nice and wide and carries really well without being overly loud. Combine this with the sub to round out the bottom end and it's short of stunning for a setup of this size. You will not be disappointed.

[Nick Saglimbeni] This was our first purchase of Waves plugins and we are thoroughly impressed with the plugins that are included. Being a drummer myself, I especially like the Eddie Kramer drum plugin. It is super easy to use and dial in just the right sound for drums with that classic rock sound. Also, another great addition is the V-EQ3 which is based on the vintage 1066 and 1073 Neve consoles.

Great plugins at a great price for a marvelous bundle. Designed for the modern professional who is working to achieve analog studio-quality inside the new digital audio technology world. Looking forward to upgrading to the Platinum bundle when we can.

Thanks for carrying the Waves plugins B&H!

[Nick Saglimbeni] This compressor is exactly what I was looking for. Transparent, smooth, and powerful. The double-knee system is unique and sounds terrific. The auto-attack & release are so good I never turn them off. Lastly, the ability to add subtle harmonics to the output gain adds that little bit of glisten.

[Nick Saglimbeni] I've been stuck in the KRK loop for about a decade now. This is my first pair of Genelecs and I am blown away! Sure, they don't have the low-end presence of larger speakers, but the clarity and separation is on a whole other level! I am hearing my favorite music in a new way through these monitors and I cannot wait to use them for critical listening in my own work as well. Every instrument feels like it has it's own space and I am noticing little delights that I have never noticed in my favorite music. What a dream!
