Get a great understanding of lighting technique with this DVD box set of Slickforce Studio Lighting Mastery: Volume One DVD Setfrom Slickforce Studio. Photographer and cinematographer Nick Saglimbeni has put together a quality tutorial set that joins Mastering Retouching and Mastering Compositing as an easy-to-understand series on photography. Volume One allows viewers to follow Nick from concept, to scouting, to lighting, and then through post production as he reverse engineers his shooting process while detailing mistakes photographers commonly make. It also covers topics such as lighting large spaces, redirecting the sun, balancing natural and artificial light sources, creating contrast, making skin and hair glow, working with fog, choosing specific camera and exposure settings, and finding the best composition when working on-location.

In addition to the video tutorial, this DVD box set also includes a miniature Slickforce Softlight and a printed copy of Nick's Lighting Journal. The miniature softlight is a replica of a full-size light and can be used to pre-visualize and plan your lighting setups prior to shooting. It comes fitted with a 4" octagonal softbox with reflective silver interior and removable diffusion cover, a 2.25" light stand base with a pair of 1.2" extender poles, and can be powered via the 12.25" power cord or included battery generator. Rounding out the box set is the Lighting Journal, which contains detailed diagrams of the lighting setups covered in the tutorial, as well as additional information not covered in the video portion. A reference glossary of lighting terms is also featured to help you acquire an expanded lighting vocabulary.

Nick Saglimbeni is a multi-award winning photographer and cinematographer, internationally known for his achievements in tutorial development and 3D photography.

Related Questions and Answers

Q: 1. I'm fairly tall. How high is the pull handle from the floor when it is fully extended?

A: I'm 5'10 and fully extended the handle is waist high. I have no problems wheeling it around!

Q: 2. Is the laptop pouch removable?

A: Yes and the other accessory bag too. Great case

Q: 3. Am i able to purchase the lid insert seperately as i already own the 1510 w/ foam?

A: Unfortunately the lid insert is not currently sold separately.

Q: 4. Can the computer lid fit a 17.3 inch laptop? The official dimensions are 16.5 x 1.3 x 11.0.

A: I just slipped my 15 MBP into the pocket and it fits with no wiggle room on the sides. Okay maybe a 1/4 of play, but not much. I would say no, a 17 laptop will not fit.

Q: 5. Does it come with only one band?

A: Hi Jeremiah, Yes, this product comes with one tabbed band. If you want additional Rogue Gel bands we also offer separately a pack of 5 for $9.95. Best Regards,

Q: 6. Do these filters cover the Canon 600EX-RT speedlite? In the specs, it says the dimension of each filter is 3 x 2.5 , but I don't know if that includes the part of the filter that goes under the band or not. Thanks!

A: Yes. The area that covers the face of the flash head is actually a tiny bit larger than the 600EX-RT head. This is great because it truly colors all the light blasting out, without any light leaks around the edges of the filter.

Q: 7. Is this case large enough to hold two camera bodies (canon 5d mark ii & 7d mark ii) + four lenses (largest is 100-400mm f/4.5-5.6L) + spare batteries, cleaning supplies, etc.? I'm not sure if this case or the 1560 is the way to go.

A: Do this: lay out your kit on a table and arrange within each case's specified dimensions. Within the 15010, plan for padded inserts spanning 1/2 -3/4 separation between each item. If you want more separation, the pick and pluck foam and the 1560 may be a better option.

Q: 8. Which cases will hold a mac laptop?

A: This case will hold up to a 15 MacBook Laptop just fine. It would not fit a 17 though.

Q: 9. Can these filters be used with the Gary Fong Collapsible Lightsphere or the Speed Snoot?

A: It is a good chance it will not fit well. The band that is used to hold the gel will prevent Gary Fong modifier from fitting correctly and securely.

Q: 10. Will a ASUS ROG 15.6 laptop can fit? Tnx!

A: Pelican states that the Pelican 1510SC Studio Case with Lid Organizer and Yellow Divider Set fits notebook computers up to 14.4 x 11.1 x 1.7 (36.58 x 28.19 x 4.32 cm). The dimensions of the ASUS 15.6 Republic of Gamers Strix Gaming Notebook are listed as 15.1 x 0.9 x 10.3 . Unfortunately, the ASUS notebook laptop will not fit in the pouch included in the case.

[0.75 lb] As a long time user of KRK and Yamaha studio monitors -,I was blown away by the Sound reproduction of the 8010s! ..These little marvels have now replaced both my Yamaha HS5 and KRK rockit 5”s as my go to mixing monitors for music and film projects .,, could not be happier ..

[Nick Saglimbeni] Every time I watch this video, I learn a new tip. If I hadn't watched this video I wouldn't have known I could set the AF-On located on the back right side of the camera to focus with my thumb instead of with the index finger On/Off. My exposures turn out much better. The Nikon D800 has so many advances that one needs the videos when upgrading from any prior Nikon camera.

[Retail Box] Genelec 8010s has the best sound in such a compact package. I find the Senal PMC-II controller to be very useful to be an intermediary connection between my Rodecaster Pro and my pair of Genelec 8010s. The mute button and the attenuation know are very useful. Regarding the speaker stands, they are much too large for the Genelec 8010 but I consider this a give away being thrown in the package that I can use in the future.

[Retail Box] Very handy light, adjustable from soft and warm color to bright and white. Perfect for my dim office and streaming apps. Works well as lighting for portrait shots too. Love the adapter at the bottom to attach webcam or other camera.

[Nick Saglimbeni] I'm not an expert by any means but these are the best small form factor near-fields I've ever heard. If you have very little space to work with these are the answer. The sweet spot is nice and wide and carries really well without being overly loud. Combine this with the sub to round out the bottom end and it's short of stunning for a setup of this size. You will not be disappointed.

[Retail Box] The Genelec 8010 pair of studio monitors fits perfectly on my desk. The Senal attenuator alone cost $100 and it is worthwhile addition. It has a useful mute button that I use all the time. The speaker stands are way oversized but I view it as a throw in for future use since the pair of Genelec 8010 studio monitors and the Senal attenuator alone exceeds the cost of the bundle.
