Related Questions and Answers

Q: 1. Will this mount to APS-C cameras?

A: Yes - in fact, I bought it specifically for that purpose. It gives you an FOV of about 19-38 - which is a pretty solid wide-angle range for a crop-frame camera.I haven't shot with this enough yet to post a full review, but I have been very pleased with what I have seen so far.

Q: 2. Can a person who is otherwise a die-hard Canon lens fan be satisfied with this Sigma lens? The comparable Canon 11-24mm seems just too expensive.

A: Buying a brand-new lens does not necessarily means you will get a good copy. You will need to test the lens out yourself. If you are lucky, then you will have a good copy. If not, you will need to calibrate it with the DSLR you are using to adjust the sharpness.Unfortunately, I did not get a good copy so I am waiting for USB Dock for Canon EF-Mount Lenses to arrive so that I can use it to calibrate my Sigma lens. I believe once it's calibrated correctly for your DSLR, the sharpness should be as good as the Canon 11-24mm.

Q: 3. For shooting real estate, would you choose this lens again or possibly go with the 14-24mm f2.8 sigma art?

A: For shooting real estate, I would go with the 12-24mm, always better to have the capability of a wider lens when you need it.

Q: 4. Is there a Benro filter kit for Sigma 14-24mm?

A: Hi--Benro does not have a filter kit for the Sigma 14-24mm lens.

Q: 5. When this is attached, do you see any vignetting?

A: When using the Vu Filters 150mm Professional Filter Holder Lens Ring for Sigma 12-24mm f/4.5-5.6 DG HSM II Lens, if one is attaching it to a "Full Frame" camera, one may get a slight vignetting at 12mm.

Q: 6. What size is the image circle, will it cover a 33x44mm sensor?

A: This lens' image circle will not cover a 33x44mm sensor.

Q: 7. What filter sizes do fit with the adapter?

A: This adapter enables use of Benro FH150 filter holder. It does not hold any filters on its own.

Q: 8. What filters should be used with this adapter?

A: When one is using the Benro FH150 Master 150mm Filter Holder Lens Adapter for Sigma 20mm f/1.4 DG HSM Art Lens, the filters one would use with the Benro FH150 holder would be the 150 x 150mm filters: https://bhpho.to/31khISX

Q: 9. Anyone use this on an EOS R?

A: Yes, the Sigma 12-24mm f/4 DG HSM Art Lens for Canon EF will work fine on the Canon EOS R and EOS RP when used with the Canon EF-EOS R adapter. The link for that is, https://bhpho.to/2MaiSuh.

Q: 10. Does this lens have a rear gel slot?

A: There is no gel slot.

[0.675 lb] Extremely wide angle lens. If you don't want a fish-eye but want a really wide-angle lens, for the price this lens really hits the mark. Really sharp at 12mm (gets softer as you zoom in). It is heavy, but really a great versatile lens. I recommend it for sure.

[0.675 lb] I have owned the Nikon 14-24mm, 18-35mm, 16-35mm and Tamron 15-30mm, this lens beats them all! It is very sharp at f4 to f10 at 12-18mm but then softens a bit from 18-24mm. Distortion, CA and vignetting are all controlled very well. The lens is well built and balances on my D810 nicely. This lens will blow you away when taking architectural interior shots at 12mm f4 most everything is straight and in focus and same goes for landscape photography, you wont be disappointed.

[0.675 lb] I was looking for recomendation on what wide angles where the best, but good pricing at the same time. End it up with this, trying for the first time, great quality, beautiful lens, not that heavy if you are use to heavy lenses.

[0.675 lb] I have been using the generation one Sigma 12-24mm lens for wide landscapes and architectual shots for many years. The older lens was sharp in the center but soft at the edges and corners even when stopped down. The older lens was at its worst in the 12-15mm range, right where you needed it most. I am very impressed with the sharpness of the new Art version, especially at 12mm wide open. It is impressively sharp right to the edge of the frame and even deep into the corners. Not tack sharp like the center, but very very sharp for the edges of a super wide lens. If you own one of the older Sigma lenses and are thinking about upgrading, don't wait. The new lens is a huge improvement over the older versions in every respect, including build quality, and image quality. If you consider cost as a downside to the new lens, consider the Canon 11-24mm lens. The Sigma is about half that price, so perhaps the Sigma is a bargan. In the DPREVIEW review of the Sigma Art lens they said at 12 mm it is very close to the Canon in terms of sharpness and beats the Canon in terms of vignetting, chromatic aberration (CA) and distortion. The DPREVIEW review of the Sigma lens was not as good in the 16-24mm end of the range. However, the images I have taken with the lens with my 5Ds look pretty darn good, at 24mm. At that focal length, the Sigma beats my Canon 24-105mm L lens in terms of sharpness. At 12 mm The Sigma is approaching my Canon 70-200mm f/2.8 IS II lens in terms of sharpness. If you are familiar with that lens, you will know that is impressive. For my purposes, the Sigma is a winner, especially when you consider price. That is why I gave it a 5 star rating.

[0.675 lb] I should have bought into the 12-14mm years ago but stuck to 16mm (16-35 L 2.8). This Sigma is a monster sized/weight lens that feels like a tank artillery shell, but this is good. I'm not buying into this new smaller, more petite trend. I'm sticking to my DSLR which actually works better for my line of work, all photo and no video.
